@@user-id8cl5zd9e I only take biotin tablets 5000mg and apply rogaine thrice a week. Biotin has helped to increase the quantity and thickness of the hair.
Ok that's a lot of minoxidil. This is bad advice. Please don't forget that at the end of the day, it IS a drug. Sure it is topical so side effects are minimal to non existent but please read the label. If you apply too much, there could be increased systemic absorption of the drug....that is, the drug (minoxidil) seeps into your body and over a period of time, this can lead to systemic side effects. These effects have been studied and listed on the label. Please follow your doctor's advice. Getting "terrific" efficacy results is just half the story. One has to balance efficacy with adverse events.
Love the comments! But I don’t think rogaine cap is enough for the entire scalp. I even have long hair and struggle to get to the scalp. Before I get to move on to a different side there’s not much left and just evaporates from what remains.
i don't think this is an effective way to apply the foam. way too much gets into the hair, especially if the one still has a lot of hair but thinning. all of it should be going directly on the scalp. best use a mirror, part your hair, and apply it directly on the scalp.
In case anyone here doesn't already know, minoxidil should NEVER be used as a stand alone treatment for male pattern baldness. One of my friends has been using rogaine for three years and is more bald then ever. This is because you still have to block the DHT within the body which is the main reason for balding to begin with. Either take finasteride orally or topically or apply one of the experimental DHT blockers on the scalp in conjunction with the minoxidil. Good luck to everyone on their hair loss recovery journeys! 12 months on oral finateride, 6 months on liquid minoxidil, and 5 months on topical finasteride and my results have been absolutely amazing!
kinda late but is it okay to just use minoxidil with a shampoo that blocks DHT(hims shampoo) and using minoxidil everyday and shampoo 3 times a week? i just started by the way
@@yona8093 nope, shampoos barely block any data even if u put it on for 10 mins every single day. Oral finasteride or topical finasteride is the best dht blocker
@@SM-fr7sc I've been considering asking my dermatologist for finasteride, but I'm scared of the potential sexual side effects. I've read that in small doses, one should be okay, though.
Does the bottle say it needs to be shaken before? It only says hold it vertically and squirt, you are doing it at an angel which is not what the instructions say
It does not say to use the lid as a form of measuring device its simply giving you a visual comparison as to how much you should squirt into your hand.
I stopped using any hair products like wax or gel since I started using Rogaine. I’ve only been using it for a month so I hope I will get the needed results. I know it’s going to take some time. I also like the texture it adds to my hair. Thanks again for sharing this video. 👍🏿
@@tylerparker3024 it does it works for 23 hours. 4 hours ,studies show that oral monoxidil works like that. thats why people can get away with just once per day.
@@akilbarboni4198 That's great, because I don't always get a chance to apply it twice a day. I was using the generic liquid version and would apply it right before work, but I hated how it left my hair looking greasy. It got to a point where I would get up at 4 AM just to apply it and then go back to sleep for a couple more hours before getting up again. I recently bought the Rogaine foam to try it out. It looks a lot easier to use.
found this video to check out what the foam looks like because I've been using the liquid and it's such a mess! it also has been making my scalp itchy so now I will definitely be switching to the foam. your hair looks great btw!
Dude thanks for this. I'm definitely using a smaller amount though because I don't feel I need that much personally but I was wondering about the "use 2 times daily" thing. I like using it at night a few hours before bed because if I use it first thing in the morning no matter what I do it makes my hair brittle and the consistency of straw, not only that but it looks like I'm going bald super bad. If I use it at night and don't use it in the morning my hair is fuller and thicker and looks great, it's only when I use the rogaine it gets so thin and brittle.
@@yoshi999z7 He probably lost it all that's why he isn't responding. Your best best is to try onion + garlic juice and get PRP treatment regularly. People swear by it.
Ok if im applying more than a half cap is it bad? And one more question, can i comb directly after i apply the foam or it will screw the absorption on my scalp
azoz alotaibi azoz alotaibi It depends on your body. Using more can increase the side effects which are low blood pressure, dizziness and heart palpitations. I use about 3 half cap fulls and then a little bit more after I’m done on areas I missed. Obviously half a cap full is no where near enough if you have diffuse thinning like me, so I use more. The first time I that amount, I got heart palpitations for like 2-3 hours, but nothing really happened after that. My heart rate slightly increases now after application each time for like half an hour or so. I suggest you slowly increase the amount you use to build tolerance, like go from one half cap full for 3-4 days and then 2 half cap fulls, etc. If you get bad side effects you shouldn’t use more though
Bape ok thanx and how about brushing my hair directly after adding the minoxidil foam ? Cuz im brushing my hair with wide brush rounded bristle tips so that i let some circulation blood to flow on my scalp, so do u think thats a bad idea to use directly after adding the foam ?
It is recommended to be used twice a day. Do I need to take a shower before applying it both times? After application how long should I wait before washing my hair?
If your hands are warm, the foam will turn to liquid fast. Rogaine instructions say you can just rinse your hands with cold water and dry them off to make sure it doesn't happen.
Yeah, just stick with the liquid, unless you have money to burn. If you use one hand to immediately start rubbing in the liquid as you apply it, it's not too messy. I would prefer the foam, but everywhere I've looked it's literally more than twice the amount of the liquid - so not just a "little" more.
I bought the same product , but the foam that appears in the video is not the same I get .. whenever I extract it , it foams out first but within 1-2 seconds it loses its foam and becomes liquid. This happens even after shaking the bottle.. is my product fake?
Hi bro , I've been watching your videos ... I hope you are the best person to answer this. I'm from India and my hair thinning has started and i can easily see the decrease in density. i am prescribed 5% minoxidil but I've not started using it, I am concerned if i have to start with microdosing of finasteride or should try minoxidil. I've seen 3 doctors and they have not prescribed me finasteride , all have prescribed 5% minoxidil. As you have experimented , what do you suggest ? Considering the side effects , should i start with 0.2/0.1mg of finasteride or use minoxidil as prescribed by the doctor? Your answer will definitely help me. Thank you Amir...
Might be to late but u have to wash ur hair twice a day if u doing two treatments a day, I usually put it on in the morning and wash it at 4 than again put it on at night wake up and wash it
@@PakPride I have used minox for over 3 years now. The shedding at the beginning is enough to scare people away cuz at the end all u want is to have excess hairfall when you are already balding but the good news is it comes back.I was pretty thin on the top and crown. the first month was horrendous but I now have decent coverage. The hair that are about to 'die' shed off and u get new hair. But the caveat is you have to use it to hold on to the hair. I wouldnt mind that given that I have also taken PRP and stem cell therapy and the cost and pain is enough of a hassle. Minox does come with a couple of catches like hairfall during initial days of application, itchy/sensitive scalp, dandruff but all of those have a cure. So yeah minox works and only start if u are dedicated to use for the rest of your life.
nystagmus yes, I work home thursdays and fridays so I don’t wash my hair again until Monday morning, so Monday-Wednesday I wash, Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday I don’t And it works amazing
MrBavz01 I haven’t tried it myself but seen quite a few videos on here that say it’s just as good if not better because more gets on the scalp and less soaked up by the hair. I would think it should work the same as the foam melts once it gets on the scalp anyways so you’re just melting it earlier.
Meliodas squirt the foam into the cap then put the cap in hot water just make sure you don’t get any water in the cap, or you can use a hair dryer to melt it
Yes but that's actually a good sign. The hair that sheds are the miniature hairs from your essentially "dead" follicles. They shed to make wait for new, fuller hair. There are actual medical and scientific names for these types of hairs and the hair growth cycle and stuff but I don't know them off the top of my head and don't care enough to look it up haha. But yes, long story short, the hair shedding is actually a good sign that means it's working.
I had hoped this was something that was put on in the shower. I find this makes my hair feel very dirty and makes it hard to use with styling product. Any advice on this?

@@edharris5855 All minoxidil does is prolong the growth phase of the hair so at any point you have an appearance of slightly more hair on your head, you continue losing hair anyway so you'd be as bald as you'd normally be 5 years down the road. You can get an appearance of more hair for the first 2-3 years
@@edharris5855 I have diffuse thinning that is progressing very slowly so rogaine helps me more than the typical receding pattern loss. Also i take finasteride. My hairline is like a 7 year old's and my hair is still thick enough that i get compliments on them when dry. Its still progressively thinning however
Good news guys! Right from the start. Directions from Rogaine: "To open container: Match arrow on can ring with arrow on cap. Pull off cap." This is no more difficult than hitting a major league curve ball. At least on the first try. If at first you can't get pull off the cap, yell and swear at the cap. That will intimidate the cap and it will eventually allow itself to be pulled off. Don't go thru this exercise in front of your wife or girlfriend.
If I'm not wrong, you have been using it along with finasteride in this period of three years right? Do you think would it be that effective if you only used rogaine ? But probably you wouldnt know it unless you used rogaine solely for a while without finasteride. So the question is did you use rogaine solely and if you did how was the result? Good video again by the way there are also different things to pick up other than how to use it.
Aliriza ÖZTÜRK skip the finesteride, just use rogaine, it works on its own. The top of my head is super thick after being able to see through it. I have a hard time locating my scalp now when applying, that’s how thick it is just off rogaine, I’ve been using twice a day since beginning of November 2018
You'll never grow your hairline back with minoxidil. It's made for hair loss on the vertex (top of head) but it will prevent the hair line from receding further.
@@MikeBaglivi how much do you use? and after how long of use did the shedding start. And when you shedded, was it also noticeable on ur scalp so more or ur scalp was visible?
Quick disclaimer. Minoxidil does not stop hair loss at all. It just promotes hair growth. Look into the pharmacology and science behind it. I suggest you guys to educate yourselves. Finasteride stops hair loss. So your regimen should consist of of a DHT killer like finasteride and something that promotes hair growth such as minoxidil. I would also highly recommend micro-needling once a week and ketoconazole shampoo. This is the big 4 that is super effective and could potentially completely stop hair-loss. Again do your due diligence!
Horrible misinformation. Minoxidil doesn't prevent hair loss. Minoxidil isn't an androgen blocker, so it doesn't do shit to block the DHT which is miniaturizing your hair follicles. If you want to prevent balding you need to gets some topical or oral DHT Blocker.
The other videos I've seen on this, everyone seems to be applying the treatment while their hair is dry. I wanted to ask if it will work better if your hair is wet first? What do people think on this? Or will your hair being wet hinder it? And is it possible to get to the point where you won't have to be stuck using this treatment forever if you catch it early before you have very much hair loss?
The makers of the product advise to apply after a "towel dry". So obviously not dripping wet but not dry by any means. So I don't know if that's the actual recommendation but I think the point is that you're aiming to apply it to the roots and it would be easier to manage your hair when it's still damp.
my head has been balding in the front, which means awful head lines etc. I got this recommended from a dermatologist, so I've been searching videos about it. My only worry its the shedding.
Hi there I need a hand, lm new using Rogaine foam, I got a 3 months treatment, I’m on the first can, and the first two weeks the foam was coming out normal, but now seems like doesn’t have enough pressure to shot the foam and all it come out is the liquid. I been applying this straight to my head, shooting little by little and being careful to not use more that the cap as the instructions say. Pls guys let me know if I’m doing something wrong 😑 or if this is normal thing to happen, but I’m confused 🤷🏽♂️ because it should be ok Thank you Javi.
So you said start with a clean head. Does that mean I have to wash my head before applying it the second time of the day. It says to apply it twice a day (which I do in the morning and before bed) I just started a couple days ago so I’m hoping to get my hair back on my crown.
Lewis Cook dude I never even check my RU-vid inbox. But after 7 months it’s improved a little bit my crown is still bald but there a minor amount of hair that’s come back. Keep in mind my crown was all gone if you still have a fair amount of hair bald spot is not too visible you’ll be able to save your hair. I’m gonna keep using it hopefully it recovers more with time.
Mohammad Kamran Thanks for reply. My crown isn’t shiny bald I have hair over it but you can see my scalp. I’m 3 weeks in so I’m hoping for a good result
Its ok not to comb after applying foam minoxidil, like i mean after drying up or something, cause my hair falling when i comb it. What do you recommend?
Abhinav Wieselfeld is it ok if i used it then the second day i used it again without washing my hair cuz im using it once in a day and im washing my hair after 2days so do u think it will affect the absorption?
I would recommend using both at the same time. Finasteride is only a DHT blocker of testosterone (cause of hair loss) meaning, it will prevent any further hair loss but WON'T regrow or strengthen your existing follicles. Minoxidil, on the other hand, will stimulate those follicles by increasing blood flow and allow more nutrients to the root of your hair. Results will vary with every person, depending on your balding pattern and how your body reacts to the minoxidil drug. Try it out, give it at least 3-4 months before noticing results.
