100% correct. I use a slightly different analogy. The baseline is your departing flight. As you approach you need to utilize a connecting flight. If might take two or three until we reach our final destination, the kitchen. Use same approach on return of serve with the only difference is split step when your ball bounces on opponents side as they can’t hit it until it bounces. Smart, methodical and most importantly balanced way for a successful transition. Been teach this for years. It works. 👍
Isn't there also the variable if the reset is too high that we might want to stop moving forward? Or do you ALWAYS want to move to the kitchen line no matter how good or bad the reset is? And is there a time when a reset is so bad that we need to move backward?
I tried to explain this concept on reddit and got obliterated. I tried to find others who teach this concept, and couldn't find anyone else who teaches this way. Literally 100% of everyone else teaches to split step right before the opponent hits the ball. Can you clarify? When exactly do you stop moving? When exactly do you split step? This is only for approaching the kitchen line after a 3rd shot drop! When your ball crosses the plane of the net stop moving. It gives you more time to react to hit a successful reset!
