How to aquascape a Juwel Lido 200 Nature Aquarium planted tank. This is Pete aquascaping his aquarium at home with me filming and assisting with the setting up. Aquatic plants supplied by Aquarium Gardens and recycled from the previous scape.
Look out for another video featuring Pete's Iwagumi update soon!
Keep on scaping,

Hi George. Thank you for sharing another one of your wonderful videos. One day I shall do an aquascape and dedicate it to you for all your inspirational videos, the way you do your aquascapes I have never seen anyone else do, you take it to a whole other level, it really leaves me speechless because your scapes are so breath taking. You always give it your all and I believe that is the number one thing, as giving it 100% each time shows that you truly care about the aquarium life, which is very admirable. I gave the video a big big thumbs up. Take care.

I love this so much, I know this video is a few years old but I just ordered this tank in the new grey colour, it is being delivered tomorrow and I want to do something similar to this scape. I am so excited and can’t wait to set it up, this scape has inspired me so much. Well done 👍🏼

I'm an old dog and my health doesn't allow me to do this sort of thing anymore, but I live vicariously through videos like this. I have to add, however, that I am jealous of the variety of plants and other materials as well as the technology available to hobbyists these days. When I first got into planted aquariums it was an almost unheard of hobby here in the US, and I was very lucky if I could find someone who had basic Java moss growing in their tank that I could trade some cuttings for. There were no varieties of it; just Java moss. Most shops would stock about a half dozen varieties plants, and often they were not even truly aquatic plants, like Dracaena or Spathiphyllum being passed as "aquatic plants" because they can survive a few months being submerged. I searched for several years before finding someone who would ship me some dwarf sword plants to get a "lawn" in one of my planted tanks (this was pre-internet and it was difficult to find distributors). When it came to rocks, I could generally choose from volcanic lace rock, slate, marble, glass "slag" rock, or some local river rocks. Wood was either Malaysian bog wood, or "take your chances" with some unknown variety that would probably turn moldy and start to rot after a month or two. I rigged my own CO2 reactors, first with yeast and sugar fermentors and later with CO2 bottles and home-made bubblers. Even the soil and sand selection available is incredible compared to what I had to choose from, and don't even get me started on lighting systems from then vs now! I can't believe the resources available these days, although I can't really take advantage of them myself I'm still very glad that they're available to those still in the hobby. Although truth be told, I do feel a tinge of jealousy! Thanks for your great videos!

Thanks Catherine. Yes, I do realize that; that's why I specified that I was in the US. Planted aquariums caught on in the UK well before they did in the US, but even here in the US there are far more options now than there used to be.

Ive always wanted to make a crypt-heavy scape so will look forward to the next update Since you mention fish; I reckon loads of tiny fish would look really good in here; Like a big school of green neons, a few otocinclus, some dark coloured Endlers aaaand a nice female betta =P and some cory's if you think theres space at the front ! Keep em coming!! Loving it, quick question George, with regards to the aquascaper soil/fertilizer how necessary is it? I have low demand plants, a quite capable DIY Co2 system and a decent maintenance and dozing routine but only simply aquarium gravel. Plants are looking decent, there's some growth but I want to rescape and add soil, its just so so pricey here in South Africa. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
@GeorgeFarmerStudios
@GeorgeFarmerStudios 6 лет назад
Thanks Connor! I’d recommend a decent liquid fertiliser in any planted tank. But it’s less important the richer the substrate. More so for rheophytes (Plants on rock and wood)

Thanks for the video George, for Dry Start Method... , do you need to mix liquid fertilizer to water for spraying? if so,,what kind? and also, do you need to open a small hole on the tank cover while covering the tank to let air get inside the tank?
@GeorgeFarmerStudios
@GeorgeFarmerStudios 6 лет назад
Hi Jess, hole isn’t necessary but opening up to air every day or so is a good idea (for 30minutes or so). No need for ferts in the spray if you are using soil 👍

All my plants (crypts, ferns and mosses) are doing very well, except carpeting plants, due to the hight of 65cm i think. You didn't use any carpeting plants in this aquascape thats true. I am trying now Marsilea Hirsuta and Helanthium Tenellum as last remedy :-)
