Good question. If the squeak is in the shaft where it enters the motor assembly, I'm thinking there would probably be pre-sealed bearings here that would be almost impossible to stop from squeaking. If the squeak is somewhere else on the fan like the mounting bracket you might be able to isolate a stop the squeak. Tricky part is to find WHERE the fan is making the squeak.

On my application there was 2 switches to control the fan. Black wire from one switch controls the fan and the red wire from the other switch controls the lights. I connected red wire from outlet box to blue wire on light kit.

I can't say for sure, but I see it all the time. I had that experience in my own home, in a room with separate switches for the fan and light, which means they planned for a fan, but had a aplastic box nailed to the side of the joist. Best to remove it and put in a brace, because if the new fan has more weight OR torque than the old one, you may get an unpleasant surprise in about 4-5 years. The content of your video is very well done, though.

There should be a wiring diagram in your instructions. Normally the Black Wire is the Hot, the White wire is the Neutral, the bare Copper wire is a Ground. The Blue wire on the fan is usually for the light kit. The Green wire from the fan is a ground. I'm thinking white to white, blue & black from fan to black from outlet box, bare copper & green wires are grounds. I'll put a link in the video description that will take you to the how to wire it website which should be helpful.

Lifting the air upward cools the ceiling panels and stops the infra red heat from overpowering the air conditioning. The other reason to lift upward has to do with freshness and airborne poisons, which are dissipated instead of concentrated. Six percent saving on heating by lifting, but TWENTY SIX percent savings from lifting while cooling. The gains in freshness remain year-round. All the circulaters should lift. One fan can un-do three, and this includes other rooms and even other floors in the same building!

Very helpful video and narration. My wife and I are closing on a new construction next week and it has 5 pre-wired hookups for fans w/ lights, but it is up to me to install them all. I am certain this video will help. Any advice in terms of efficiency? I was going to ask my wife to assemble all of the fan blade assemblies while I tackle the motor mountings. This should help save some time yes?

If only one of the lights didn't work I would say it was a problem with paint in the socket or a faulty bulb, but if none of the lights work after painting it sounds like a problem with the light switch or a loose wire somewhere.

Good video. I noticed, however, that you must have had the same issue I had with regard to connecting the wires. The fan comes with three wire nuts, and you needed an extra one (the yellow one) to connect an additional wire. Not knowing much about wiring, and thinking it came with all the needed parts, I thought that I was supposed to use the white & red wires together in the same nut, but it obviously needed different connectors, because when I went to turn on the fan, it tripped the breaker.
@Iscaper
@Iscaper 10 лет назад
On my installation I had a wall switch for the the lights and a switch for the fan so I connected the black wire in the outlet box to run the fan and the red wire to run the lights. Normally the white wire is the common, that may be why you tripped the breaker.

@Iscaper
@Iscaper 10 лет назад
The fan does come with a balancing kit but only necessary if you notice wobble in any of the fan blades.
@FanManSC
@FanManSC 11 лет назад
I have 2 comment about this. First, when you removed the old fan, you could have hung it on the hook of the hanging plate, so there would have been no rush to disconnect the wires. Second, the box you are hanging the fan from appears to be a plastic one, which fans should never be hung from, because the threads can strip from the fan's torque. On any fan instructions it says " Use an outlet box that is safe for fans", and plastic doesn't meet that standard.

This is an awesome video!! Thanks for the detailed explanation. Whats the process if I need to change a light fixture to a fan/light combo? (it is prewired for fan/light combo. Not sure if thre is the horizontal rod across at the top to hang the fan off of..)
@Iscaper
@Iscaper 9 лет назад
austex2020 If your fixture is pre-wired for a fan/light combo you should have an extra wire in the outlet box. The extra wire in my application was red and I connected it to the blue wire from the new light assembly. The new light assembly comes with a hanger bracket that attaches to the outlet box.
@JulianVidal001
@JulianVidal001 8 лет назад
+iScaper1 My hanger bracket has a ground on it, and a ground coming from the pole from fan - it seems in the one you show here there is also a bare copper ground coming from the junction box? In my Junction box there is only one bare copper wire coming in with the hotwire and attached to a ground screw at the Junction box, shouldn't there be another bare copper wire attached from the junction to the 2 groundwires on the fan or would 2 ground wires suffice?
@Iscaper
@Iscaper 8 лет назад
+Mister Vidal You could run a jumper from the 2 wires on the fan to the ground screw on the outlet box, or undo the ground wire on the outlet box and connect with the 2 ground wires on the fan with a wire nut. Second option is probably the easiest.
@JulianVidal001
@JulianVidal001 8 лет назад
What I did was wrap the bare ground house wire around the outlet box ground screw and continued it into a pigtail connection with the 2 grounds from the fan (bracket, and pole connection) - is this okay?

Question why do ceiling fans use candelabra bulbs? Why couldn’t they at least use medium base bulbs that are not included or included CFLs or LEDs that would be MUCH BETTER. ALSO THE LIGHT IS SO DIM. AWESOME NEWS: THEY STOPPED USING CANDELABRA BULBS AND NOW COME WITH MEDIUM AGAIN. I bet on the old fan the lights would be fairly bright.
