In this workshop we show how to assemble the QHY Filter Wheel and connect it to both NINA (Nighttime Imaging 'N' Astronomy) and APT (Astro Photography Tool). Plus some filter choices you may not have thought of.

Congratulations on the new camera and FW Richard! Excellent video as usual. Can't wait to see the excellent results you are sure to get now that the smoke is abating and the nights are slowly getting longer. CS & GB brother!

Appreciate it. Thanks! Looking forward to mingle with the coyotes under the stars again. 😄

Looks really nice. I wish QHY would sort their driver issues out. It's the one thing keeping me from getting into their ecosystem.

Hi, Richard. Great video. Loved the the Observatory. Thought of doing the Dome, but it would've been too hard DIY. Did the ROR instead. Also, compare to your setup I got medium size FW for 36mm, no adapters. Love those Baaders. Mine are 6.5nm CMOS. So far so good... I feel that 6.5nm, especially in HA is more "universal" compared to 3-4nm. Wish you lots of clear nights!

Hi Ian, I'd agree the 3-4nm really come into their own in places like New York or Tokyo. The 6.5 are adequate for most situations and have the added advantage of costing less. Glad you found the video useful! :)

Hi Richard, I've been patiently awaiting a new video from you as I like the style of your presentations. Interestingly some weeks ago, I purchased a QHY294M Pro and it will see first light hopefully at the Astrocamp at Kelling Heath in the UK on the 8th October 2021. Do you know much about the fact these cameras are suppose to be able to do 4X the pixel of other cameras because there is some functionality which QHY has allowed to be open, whereas ZWO do not open their cameras. Presuming it like some kind of Interlacing??? You video has really helped me, especially realising that NINA can use Native and APT has to use ASCOM. Looking forward to hearing the Coyote's again (hint hint). Thanks a lot and best wishes to you!

Thanks Robert. Happy to hear you found it useful. First light at Kelling Heath, that's cool! Some of the darkest skies in the UK there! Glad they designated it as a "Dark Sky Discovery Site" Best of luck out there. It's been tough this year with the smoke from all the fires west of here. I haven't had much opportunity for visual work among the Coyotes because of it. :( I do know the QHY268 has four read modes now with more in the works. I use Readout Mode #1 (High Gain Mode). But I'm going to try out #3 mode Extend Full Well soon. It's claimed the read noise is reduced by about 1.3 times from Mode #1. I'm also going to make the switch from APT to NINA. NINA's Advanced Sequencer in V1.11 is nothing short of amazing. It's what I've been looking for. Sure there's a bit of a steep learning curve. But with the Advanced Sequencer a guy could set up a night's imaging and get some needed rest. lol

Hi, this is Yilia from QHYCCD. Nice work and we have shared this on our page. Could I know that which social media you usually use?

All these companies have the same sensor. Why should be any difference between QHY and ZWO? What if I need to use this filter wheel with Teledyne cameras? It will not work. Right? This should be presented loudly, since it is critical point. Bottom line, stop advertising them. QHY produces cumbersome nothing special equipment. No difference from ZWO. No difference from any company that use not-their-own sensors. But, you are right their software is sheeit.
