This is the BEST video I have ever seen on applying binding to a quilt while it is on the the longarm. Very clear information provided. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
This is the BEST video I have ever seen on how to apply binding to a quilt on the longarm. Very clear instructions! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
I agree with other comments, this is the best video I have seen for attaching binding. I think I will actually give it a try on my next quilt. Thank you so much.
This is such a big help!! I didn't quite get the left miter but I think I can figure it out. So much easier than trying to wrestle it through my regular machine. Thank you!!
Omg I didn’t know that you can bind on a long arm. I love how you explain each detail in this video and allow us to watch the whole process. It had answer a lot of my questions watching this video. You are amazing teacher for us newbies to HQ. Thank you
Oh my gosh, I can hardly believe how easy it is to follow you and understand what you are teaching. This is the second video I have watched from you. I AM Subscribed!! I AM hooked to your method of teaching! I WILL recommend you to all of my quilty friends! Please keep up the great work! And yes, real life, loved how you dealt with the broken thread for us to see (& you acknowledged it well) and didn't edit that part out, Thank you😊❣️
Thank you so much Kelly!! I appreciate that so much. I need to make more time to make more content. It’s been a challenge while running 2 store locations too! If you have any ideas of topics you’d like me to cover, let me know! Have a great day! Angie
I just tried this way and it was amazing. I have done a few other techniques for putting binding on with the longarm, but the way you do corners is like night and day. Thank you, and thank you for showing me how to do the combining of the ends, worked like a dream. Doing my happy dance.
Wow! WOW! and WOW! Thank you Angie! I love the way you join the 2 ends, I have never seen this method before. I agree with other posters, you are a great teacher, easy to follow instructions and no camera obstructions. I will be following your channel enthusiatically for more learning tips. If you wanna throw in some PS Designer videos, I wouldn't object, lol! Stay safe and warm and all the best to you in the new year!!!
Thank you so much Nancy!! I really appreciate that! I honestly don’t know a lot about Designer. I know Adam Sew Fun has an entire series on Designer. We are also hosting a 3 day class in January on zoom. Then we also host bi-monthly 2 hour refresher meetings so you can continue to use Designer and learn all year!! Those classes are posted on our website LongarmConnection.com
@@nancykipp9319 Audrey Vrooman. She was a Handi Quilter educator and just retired last summer. She is a wonderful teacher! We also will be recording the 2 hour session and posting them to a private Facebook group so you can rewatch them after class! I saw your email about tracking. I will be at the shop in a little while an double check our shipping system. :)
hello please i want to ask you a question when i move the machine by my arms , does this mean that i am using my skill, (brain) to write or making flower? so what is i am not good to do that ?will my work will be bad, or all of what i want to do will be done by the machine itself? thanks
Thank you so much!! I usually use between 10-12 stitches per inch. The larger the design I’ll use 10. The tighter or more points a design has I’ll use 12. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for the great video. I will try this on my next quilt. Do you mind sharing how wide you cut your fabric for the binding? I’ve seen others do 2.25, 2.5 and 3 inch wide. What works best for you?
I love your direct no fluff videos U get right to it. .. umm why do u look so familiar ?! I think I may know u .. sorry I don't mean to be creepy!! Lol 😁
Anxiously watching for Angie's answer! Top must have been meticulously squared before loading on longarm. Occasionally quilting design tension may distort squaring.
Wonderful presentation. Love your instructions and tips. Currently I have 7 quilt tops completed that are needing quilting. And I’m just a beginner doing this for the joy of creating.
This video is fantastic. Are all your quilts 100% straight on all edges? If not, do you use your straight basting stitch line as a guide to match your binding? So happy I’ve spotted your tutorials. I’ve a lot to learn
I charge $.07 per inch around the quilt at attach to only 1 side. If they want it completely attached and finished I charge $.21 per inch. Say the quilt is 90x108 so I add 90+90+108+108 = 396 then multiply $.07 or $.021 I have another video that shows how I machine bind to close it up and finish it.
I have just one question. Do you square up your quilt top prior to putting it on the longarm? If not how do you make sure it is square before sewing on the binding? I am a newbie at this so any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Hi Martha, We use the channel locks on the longarm to square the quilt. So we start on the top edge and sew from the middle out with a channel lock. Then we also use channel locks to keep the vertical edges square as we are quilting down the quilt. We do have a video on this whole process on our website called Load it, Square it, Quilt it! stores.longarmconnection.com/classes/ Keep a quilt square can be tricky and the more comfortable you are with basting the edges the easier putting binding on will be!
Hi Angie, I have just finished quilting using the zippers that you sent to me. What a game changer. I love them very, very much. I've followed along with this video on how to attach the binding to the quilt and how to attach the 2 end pieces on the frame and I'm telling you I had to press pause a few times but wow I was so happy pulling that quilt off my frame and it was completely done. (Except for the binding stitching, which I love to do watching TV in the evenings). Thank so so much!!!!!
Yay!!!! Great job!!! I’m so glad it worked for you!! I would never finish quilts if I didn’t use the longarm for the binding. :) hope you have a great day!
You explained and showed that so well. Just so I understand, your motors were engaged, but you did not have the ProStitcher channel locks selected? Thank you!
Yes! That’s is correct. My favorite way to do this is with the Pro gears down so the crosshairs are orange but no channel locks engaged. If you don’t have a Pro, you can use the white hold tight clamps and that will create resistance in both directions to make it easier to sew straight lines. Thank you for watching!
Loved your instructions. When I rented quilting time on your machines, you always placed the binding on for me. Now that I have my own machine and watched how you do the binding I think I will give it a try on the longarm. Because I don't like hand sewing, I will finish the last seam on my domestic machine. Thank you for your great instructions. Someday could you show us how you finish the other side of the binding process using a domestic machine.
Hi Gwenn! I am working on a video for the domestic!! I’ll be posting a video on how to do the binding on the back side using the longarm too!! We miss you!! Hope you’re doing great!
Exceptional tutorial. I'm attempting my first binding on the longarm and this tutorial is fantastic with all the extra tips and tricks. Thank you very much.
This was the best tutorial for applying your binding to your quilt using your longarm. I made copious notes and hope to try this method very soon. I do thank you for taking your time and providing us with the "tuck and fold method". Again, thank you.
I love this tutorial on how to attach the binding. But I am wondering about the step to square the quilt before binding. How do you ensure it's square?
Hi Cathy! I use the channel locks that are built in to my Pro-Stitcher computer. This will lock the machine so I adjust the fabric to meet where the machine is stitching. I create all my 90 degree corners with the channel locks. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much Pat! I don’t use the side clamps when putting binding on because the quilts is all quilted in the middle so nothing can really move. The clamps are important while the rows are stitching. :)
This is great thank you! I would love to see a good video of attaching the same quilt with binding attached on the longarm to the back of the quilt on a domestic sewing machine.
Thank you Carrie! I do have 2 more videos on here for binding. One is attaching to the back side first and the other would be like this attaching to the top in the longarm then pinning to attach to the back on a domestic. Look through my other videos and let me know if you don’t see it :)
Thank you so much!!! I definitely need to make more time to record more videos! I have one I just did with Pro and an odd shaped quilt! I’m going to try to upload that later tonight! I really appreciate you watching! ~Angie
Love this video. I have never used a long arm and I’m waiting for mine to be delivered and in the meantime I’m watching everything I can and RU-vid. You do a really good video! Any chance you remember what quilt pattern that was? It’s so pretty. Thank you
Hello Theresa! Congrats on your new longarm purchase!! That pattern is from Anne Bright Designs and it’s called Decorations. I have used that pattern so many times! Make sure to check out our videos about the Quick Zip system for loading quilts on your longarm. It makes loading so much faster and easier. Thanks for watching! ~Angie
@@angiesanswers91 Sorry I should’ve been more clear I meant the actual pattern for the quilt itself and if you happen to know what fabric you used that would be great, thank you so much
