Learn how to move the camera between shotguns and when to move the crosshair ❌. You do not need to re-calibrate it if you are moving between the same gun type (ex: from semi-auto to another semi-auto). More info below.
To align your ShotKam's reticle to your gun's Point-of-Aim, follow these steps:
1. Mount the ShotKam onto your gun, and ensure that your gun is unloaded.
2. Place your gun on a gun bag or something of the like. Then, aim the bead of your gun at a stationary target about 30 yards away.
3. Turn your camera into WiFi mode, connect to the ShotKam network, and open the ShotKam app. Then, select the blue reticle crosshair icon.
4. Hold down the arrows for 3 to 4 seconds, then let go. Allow for a slight WiFi delay as the reticle moves one pixel per second.
5. Repeat step 4 until your reticle is centered over your target (where your gun was aimed).

When should I calibrate the camera?
You should align your reticle if:
- It is your first time using your ShotKam and mounting it to your gun.
- You move your ShotKam between different gun types (ex. semi-auto to over-and-under).
- You change your ShotKam's position on your barrel by several inches.
You will not need to realign your reticle when taking your ShotKam off and on the same gun, or when moving between guns of the same type (ex. semi-auto to another semi-auto). If mounting it back onto the same gun, then please mount the camera in roughly the same place every time, and the reticle won't need to be realigned. If you're moving the camera between guns of the same type (ex. a semi-auto to another semi-auto), then please mount the camera the same distance back from the muzzle (ex. 8 inches back from the muzzle), and the reticle won't need to be realigned.
If you move your ShotKam between gun types (ex. semi-auto to over-and-under), you will need to realign your reticle. Please note that changing the ShotKam's position on your barrel by several inches will also require reticle realignment.

Should I align it to my gun's POA or POI?
We recommend that you align the reticle to your Point-of-Aim, instead of the Point-of-Impact. The reticle will always represent the bead of your gun in your ShotKam videos. The POA is the point-of-aim (where the bead of the gun is). The POI is the point-of-impact which is where the center of your pattern is at a certain distance. The top instructors who shoot with ShotKam (ex: Harlan Campbell, George Digweed, etc) all setup the ShotKam reticle to be at the POA. The reason being is they want to “train their subconscious brain on where to put the muzzle." If the reticle represents the POI, then you’re not imprinting the correct “sight-picture” into your brain as you watch the videos. The more you can imprint the correct sight-picture, the faster your brain will recognize it and pull the trigger. For example: Most trap guns shoot high because it is a rising clay, so your videos should show that your barrel is just under the clay.
With that said, you can certainly align it to your gun's POI if preferred using a patterning board. To do so, stabilize the gun and find the center of your pellet pattern on the patterning board. Move the crosshair to the center of your pattern, then press "Save."
