Excellent video Carson! Really well done. I have watched SO MANY, videos about Mourning Doves, today. I do believe yours came in #1!!! I truly enjoyed it it was like just awesome everything about it was great . Your voice is wonderful! LOL wink. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work.
I keep my backyard open with shrubs, 2 trees, and lots of gravel rocks. It's surrounded by cinderblock walls. The neighborhood doves (about 9-15 doves) regularly camp under the bushes for shade from the sun, and even more show up (25-35 doves + other small birds) to shelter from the rain and high winds. The funniest thing I see them do is sunbathe or get a bath in the rain by stretching one of their wings out across the ground or up in the air, as though they are washing armpits, lol Doves seem to like open areas that look natural (no barbeque appliances, pools, trampolines, etc.). I guess it allows some of them to rest while the sentries can see ground and air predators from a distance.
Thank you for your video. I have two doves regularly outside. I can’t figure out why they like the space but they do. I am going to get sunflower seed and millets now.
I LOVE Doves!! 🕊️ I have been doing as you advise and put millet and black oil sunflower seeds out in a ground feeder and get both Doves as well as wild Quail coming to eat! Now that it is snowy winter they especially appreciate it along with the birdbath that I have now put a deicer in to keep open water for them! Thank you!!
I have a "bench" bird feeder and now I have at least 4 morning doves that come to eat. I did get a chicken house style nesting box and they do not enter it. Any suggestions?
I think you for this video on feeding morning doves. I have some in my yard but they feed on the grass and I have cats that try to catch them. What type of feeder would be safe to put up for these doves thank you
Their favorite feeders are called “Tray feeders”. Try to hang the feeder on a hook where the doves will be able to see the cats if they try to attack. Thanks for commenting!
