Having created a keyframed animation in Blender, learn how to make it automatically and infinitely repeat. Details below...
Patreon: / michaelbullo
With the keyframe animated object selected, find and select the animated property within the Graph Editor.
Bring up the Sidebar from...
1. The View menu
2. Pressing the keyboard shortcut "N"
From the Modifiers tab add a Cycles modifier. The animation should now infinitely repeat in both directions along the timeline.
The original keyframes are still fully editable and any changes made to them will be immediately included within the repetition.

Thank you! This is incredible helpful, and thank you again for moving the mouse slower! It's so much easier to follow along!

Thank you for the feedback regarding pacing. Comments like this definitely help guide me when making future videos. Have fun with Blender :)

Hey that's great to hear. Best of luck with those animations.

I divided the object into multiple objects and animated each one separately (arms, legs, torso). Then when I created a loop based on your video (great video by the way) to mimic the movement, everything worked. One thing I don't know how to do, though, is how to turn off looping for a certain object so that it only repeats once and then doesn't and the rest of the objects (of one larger object) still loop.

Thank you. I hope the video proves useful. Perhaps I don’t fully understand your situation but if you don’t want looping on a particular object, wouldn’t you just not add it in the first place? If you are animating an object like a person, you might want to look into adding and animating bones.

Hello, I have a question, is it possible to make an animation cycle that only lasts up to a certain keyframe? So the repetitive animation won't last forever, only to certain point

Inside the Cycles modifier you should see Count values for Before and After. That should allow you to repeat a specific number of times.

Im so lost with this. My graph looks way more complex and i have no idea what to click on it. Let along that the bar where you have the y location is empty and i dont see any kind of modifiers tab

Sorry to hear you are lost. All I can suggest you do is start with a new file and try and follow every step in the video. Best of luck and let me know how you go.

...and how to make the repeat animation to all the Transforms keys?
@IIIQZAIII
@IIIQZAIII 7 месяцев назад
...now you selected only one transform axis.

In the video I click on Y Location to select it. At this point you would hold down Control/Command or Shift and select whatever properties you want. Then apply the Cycles modifier.

i made a simple walking animation but the longer it goes on the more out of sync the legs get and one seems to be faster then the other one
@Vinyknobs
@Vinyknobs 4 месяца назад
nevermind i figured it out as soon i sent this comment, i just needed to make a sure that both legs had keyframes at the same time in the timeline even if some didnt do anything

@@MichaelBullo It works with a block/cube but I'm trying to do the same thing with an already animated character, so what happens with this technique is that the character walks for 92 frames, then stops walking but the character keeps moving along the path (Y) with no walking animation. Not sure if the character format (glb) has any bearing on things, really frustrating.
@MichaelBullo
@MichaelBullo Месяц назад
@@francolli I had a situation recently where I downloaded an animated character from mixamo.com as an FBX. Using the method I showed I was able to get the walk cycling looping but not at other times. I’m still trying to work out if I need to select or not select things in a particular way for this to work.

@@MichaelBullo I'll keep trying , I'm pretty new to blender but I'm throwing everything at it, I have no idea why I didn't get into it sooner but the learning curve is mount Everest of learning curves, I'm currently fighting with fog as well so I'll keep checking in with your tutorials. As for the models I can't get over how many formats there are, some work really well, others not so good, its kind of finding a balance, it doesn't help either that a lot of tutorials out there are way out of date, musgrave node not being there in blender 4 is a real pain for one example, the amount of tutorials I had to abandon after a load of work just because of a lack of musgrave is insane
@MichaelBullo
@MichaelBullo Месяц назад
@@francolli I hear ya mate. I'm obsessed with Blender and have thrown countless hours of study and practice at it. It's definitely worth the effort. In case you didn't know, the Musgrave Texture node has been absorbed into the Noise Texture node. The functionality and rendering is identical. I wish you well learning Blender.
