In this video we cover the steps necessary to automate the process of creating a task in Jira. Why? Well, a problem I recently faced involved audit files provided by Tenable happening quite frequently. Instead of spending a few minutes a day or every few days, browsing to the page and scrolling finding if any updates have been added, I can just execute the script and have a task created in Jira. As mentioned in the video, we can also automate the execution of a script using task scheduler on Windows or something line Cron on Linux.
This does not have to stop here. For example, maybe I want to push this audit file to a GitHub repo, fork, and later allowing me to make the necessary modifications for my environment, before pushing to the main branch. Another example, maybe we run some scripts to compare the two files and add this to the Jira description so we know where to look and see if the changes apply to us.
