Im older and observe hat etiquette. Inside a building seated for pleasure ir business my hat ir cap comes off. No longer are there cloak rooms or hat check in even the better restaurants. I see men with their hats or caps on inside a building. I don’t like it and mark it off as they were not taught.
Good on you. Thing I cannot stand today is to see men wearing ball caps while sitting at dinner in a good restaurant. I get it if it is at Hooters or a sports bar, but it looks terrible and disrespectful in a nicer setting. No one seems to care though unless they are from a time where hats were common or learned etiquette from someone like a father or in military service.
I was in Chicago, US, when I was 16 years old. Family thing. Today I`m 57. I bought a beautiful Stetson hat. Quite exspensive for my wallet, at the time. Back in Norway, I went to a ZZ Top concert. With my Stetson. A guy behind me, quite drunk - and a NUMBER of years older than me, took my hat off my head and put it on his own head. The hat was lost. A situation I still remember vividly. Bad memory. I can only concurre: Don’t let anybody take your hat.
