As a newbie to small acreage rural life, I would like to say THANK YOU! I don't know what I would have done without your videos.

Good morning, Tin, where were you when I bought my hobby farm. This is a basic fencing video. But I would have paid good money for this level of education which I had to learn and relearn the hard way. Thank you for an absolutely brilliant video, which I will be watching a few times as I still have fencing to do. And I will not be digging holes for timber posts, as I will be using the new straining post system. Plus, I will buy pre marked steel posts as well. Thank you, brilliant video.

Just bought my first wire spinner & if I didn't watch this first before I used it the coil would of gone on in upside down for sure! Thanks for the most basic tips for basic people like me.

If the wire shoots between the arms (it can sometimes), two cable ties will solve that.

Hi Tim, I also just bought a wire spinner exactly like that, and new to fencing, but had looked at the official whites video and they point the wire spin and the other way. What's your opinion on this? Either way, very very good basic video 👍

A good tip for post spacing is to use the 'measure'' function on an iPhone. We use 5m coz its easier to calculate each successive post (5, 10, 15 and so on).

When my mob, where spacing out picket spacing, we would more often than not, place a chalk mark or paint pen mark on the big tyre of a moderate tractor and the mudguard. One and a half turns of the big wheel, 3 turns of the front wheel, 4 or 5 if you were in a ute, Its remarkably accurate, if you don't have wheel spin, You just drive until the TDC (Top dead centre) of the wheel, matches the mark on the mud guard. Granted we were running out much longer fences,

Thanks Tim, helpful for me. Are you planning to show how to deal with more difficult conditions? Examples I can think of: Rocky ground - do you just pull the post out and try a bit further along? Curved fence - eg following a track. Lots and lots of end assemblies? Even on a gentle curve? Over a gully where the wires will tend to pull the posts out of the ground. How do you get the tension right when the wire is not going to end up perfectly straight (vertically or horizontally)? Tie the wire to the posts before tensioning?

Rocky conditons are tough as you really need contractors equipment Hitting rock, moving your post and then hitting rock again is really hard on the body! I use an sds+ drill powered by a generator Petrol rammer will usually get through rocks once theres a pilot hole This in addition to bashing rock spike along the line to get intermediate pines in

Yes, there are plenty of plans, inbcluding rocky conditions! Don't forget to sub and hope you like upcoming content.

@@cyclingzero2353 ah, thanks. I hadn't thought of drilling. I guess something like a 20mm dia 600mm long drill bit. I don't know what a rock spike is, so I'll look it up.

@@FarmLearningTim thanks. Already a long-time subscriber. I have a bush block with a bit of cleared area that I'd like to fence to keep the critters out. Nothing like the nice paddock you showed in this video. Another video idea is repairing failed end assemblies. Failures like a faulty diagonal brace, or a faulty horizontal stay.

Hi Tim, Noticed the cable ties on the spinner... can i ask their purpose ?
@FarmLearningTim
@FarmLearningTim 27 дней назад
Hi mate these design of spinners can jam if the wire goes between the two halves. A simple cable tie stops this.

Are gates really still sold in imperial measurements?
@FarmLearningTim
@FarmLearningTim Год назад
12' is 3600mm. Most people still refer to them as 12 foot, so easier. Also, my American viewers can't cope with metrc.....
