Hi I’ve just bought a oase 1200 filtoclear and upon getting it running having the inlet valve in the correct position I’m getting water coming out all the time from the backwash valve and I don’t know how to stop it also the cleaning handle does not want to come up Have I assembled it wrong ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. I’ve capped it off but when I take cap off water gushes out and starts emptying my pond

Hi there Phil, is the water coming out of the cleaning outlet/secondary outlet at the full force of the pump? If so i’d double check you connections and make sure you’ve not accidentally fitted the pump feed to the outlet of the filter rather then the inlet. There’s arrows embossed on the filter unit that clearly show the direction of water flow; in and out. If however its a trickle coming out of the secondary cleaning outlet this can be normal- the blue rotary cleaning dial isn’t designed to be fully water tight, as the resistance in turning the valve would be too great if so. This is why the cleaning outlet should be blanked off with the provided threaded end cap to prevent water loss from the filter. Only during cleaning should this be removed and a cleaning hose attached. Some people do leave their cleaning hose attached permanently for convenience sake, but I never recommend this unless additional taps/valves are added to prevent the risk of water loss. Hope this helps! Best regards, Ed

You didn't actually show the pumping of the blue handle, a big part of the cleaning missed I fear.

Thanks for watching and commenting! Agreed, in retrospect I should have shown me actually performing a clean, but I think how to pull the lever is straight forward and obvious enough… now I have better camera and audio equipment one day I’ll do a revised video! Best, Ed

Hi and thanks for the tutoriel! One question: Is these units (mine is filtoclear 16000) designed to stay out during winter? Mine is raised 1 meter above pondlevel and when I stop the pump the water will drain back in the pond, exept for the water in the tank. Will the UV act as a deicer when the pump is stopped during freezing periods? Or will you clean it up and store it inside the house?

@CrystalClearAquatics День назад
Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting and my apologies for the slow response. In general I would recommend running a filtration system constantly through the winter months - in doing so you’re protecting the system from freezing- moving water through the pipes and filter are much less likely to freeze and the uvc if left on will emit a small amount of heat which helps to protect it from damage if it were to freeze. If you switch off the system you’re much more likely to have an issue during extreme cold- in which case draining of the system and protecting from the cold and also lagging pipes exposed above ground is recommended. Hope that helps! Best, Ed

Even after doing this i still have low pressure on water returning to pond and it just dribbles out. Any idea how to regain pressure?
@CrystalClearAquatics
@CrystalClearAquatics 3 года назад
Hi there, if you’re still experiencing low water flow/pressure even after backwashing the filter it will Either be because the pump is clogged, or your filter foams need replacing. If you haven’t replaced your foams within the last year or so I’d hedge my bets this is the issue. Checking the pump and cleaning if necessary is a simple enough procedure so I would check this first. If you then uncouple the inlet pipe connection to the filter unit and switch on your pump you’ll be able to see the flow rate your pump Is delivering-if it is much more powerful when uncoupled from the filter this confirms your foams will require replacing. nice video! today I tried on my new Oase fitoclear 12000 after 1 month of use. Fallowing the instrunctions and several video tutorial is not working as expected. Basically if I rotate anticlowise 180 degree till the "click" there is no water going ot at all! However I see some water going out if I rotate allibble bit before that click (about 160/170 degree) but its useless because 50% of water went in one direction and 50% in the opposite direction. After a lot of tests and frustration I was unable to use this feature, so I cleaned the filter by using standard position and a long hose extention. Any idea why this is happen ? something broken ? or maybe something is not assembled not correctly at the factory?

Hhhhmmmnn that’s interesting....this can happen if the inlet pipe work had been fitted incorrectly to the outlet pipe and the outlet pipe fitted to the inlet. Once many years ago for ease of installation and pipe work configuration I attempted to set up a unit like this. All seemed well until it was time to perform a backwash and that’s exactly what happened to me when I tried! The answer was to route the pipe work correctly and ensure water coming from the pond was connected to the inlet and the return was was connected to the outlet. Marker arrows are clearly embossed on the unit. Hope that makes sense and let me know how you get on! Best, Ed

Is it possible to lead the discharge hose to a higher level? I want to buy this filter and place it in a recessed technical compartment.
@CrystalClearAquatics
@CrystalClearAquatics 3 года назад
Good morning! Indeed yes; as this is a sealed pressurised system discharges from both the outlet and the backwash/cleaning outlets can be directed to levels higher then mean pond/water level and higher then the filter itself. The unit itself can be positioned at any level (as opposed to a gravity discharge system which needs to be positioned higher then mean level). But do ensure that if you position a pressurised system lower then pond level you have provisions via a series of valves to isolate the system from the pond. Otherwise maintenance can become an issue as once you start to disassemble the unit water will syphon from the pond! Positioning the filter higher then pond level will prevent this and should you wish to then deliver water to a higher position then the filter (such as powering a cascade) you can. Hope this helps (and makes sense! Best, Ed

@@CrystalClearAquatics Hello Ed, thank you so much for your clear explanation! I do place the filter at a lower level than the pond (pressurised system) and don't worry, I'm going to install valves in all of the three in- and outlet lines of the filter. In case of any maintenance I'm able to disconnect the filter without any problems.

Hello again? Do you do any freelance pond work in the berkshire area? I Have the oase 30000 unit. And recently developed allot of algae in my koi pond. Do you think it would best to backwash unit? Nothing has been done to the pond for 7 weeks.
