Thanks so much for your interest in my videos and my brand "TheSalonGuy". It means the world to me! Watch celebrity Red Carpet Interviews, Fashion Events, Hair Shows, Celebrities, Motivation, Inspiration, Hair Tutorials, How To's, Education and videos in the Salon and Beauty Industry.
I started TheSalonGuy brand after the passing of my Mother and discovering a role model of mine who has a few books on turning your passion into a business. I have spent the last 20+ years in the salon industry, tech and fashion. I left the industry at some point to become a Fireman and Aux. Police Officer. I did 6 years service and resigned shortly after 9/11.
I have a passion for helping people, educating and motivating. I work with major brands, local businesses and individuals looking to expand and grow.
My videos will be focused on celebrity hairstyles, athletes, models, actors, social media stars and event videos.

I have my license but my bad salon experiences have made me not want to work in a salon, so I switched to working in retail. But seeing this video inspired me to try again

I went to school to be a cosmetologist, but if I knew what I know now, I wish I went to barbering school.

@@TheSalonGuy thanks!!!! Hey… would you do another stacked razor bob video, please? You should look at your algorithms. I watch that video like a movie. For someone to come along and take out the complexity of one of the hardest cuts in the industry and make it simple, clean, but still concise… AMAZEBALLS!!😂😂😂

Thank you for making this informative video! I literally just passed my cosmetology state board exam this past Friday and am now officially licensed- 39 years old and brand new career. I appreciate all your points about "paying your dues", which I know I will succeed at because I served in the military before becoming a hairdresser and all the dues paying jobs are totally what you do throughout the beginning of (and sometimes ENTIRE) your military career. Thanks again, and I look forward to learning from your content more and more as I progress in my new career!

As someone who has tossed around the idea of possibly going into this industry over the past year this video is extremely valuable. My mom told me almost the exact same thing about the industry and paying your dues after having worked in it for many years. I did my first haircut a few weeks ago and it really inspired me to actually pursue this as a potential career path.

Never work at a salon where the owner IS NOT A COSMETOLOGIST/OR BARBER! Been there… not doing that again. All they know is business. They don’t get the process of an artistic work.
@garifallialitsatsiabouris5259
I've been in the industry since 1999....and yes....started with the grunt work☺ ! Bless 🙌 u..your advice is on point...just timing is different for everyone... some get the full benefit withing 3 to six months of grunt work....while others need more time to put get their courage or put their go a side and learn. Because a good stylist has talent but above all good communication, respect and a will to serve and do what is best for the person in their chair...

Thank you so much. You are speaking directly to me. I am desperately trying to get some traction in this industry. I assist a stylist that is not interested in helping me build my skill set. I am her shampoo and color bitch. I was a teacher for 20 years and decided to change careers during the pandemic. I’m smart. I’m good with my hands and I play well with others. I don’t run with scissors. I am keeping my focus on my purpose - supporting my family. But I am a little lost as I can do lots of things. Make wigs on my sewing machine and other hair extensions such as hand-tied wefts. I am struggling to ID those skills, such as waxing, to add to my “service menu” knowing that I am working for someone who isn’t interested in helping me “get on the floor”.
