Your positivity is so refreshing! I'm pregnant with my first child, and I've noticed that everyone always warns you about the bad things, but they rarely manage to put a positive spin on anything. In fact, the most positive advice I've received so far followed a great deal of warnings about how hard being a parent will be, and basically consisted of, "But it's all worth it, I promise." Not very convincing. I've never really loved children in general, so of course this all seems very ominous... lol. But I just love your perspective, and the fact that you seem to find the positive in every situation.
I don't normally leave comments and as you said I am not trying to win X factor with my story but, I have three boys same as you. And I have none of my own family near by, my dad lives in Essex and my sister lives in Australia . My mum actually died a few weeks after my third son was born. She had been sick since I was 9 and my sister and I always looked after her, when she left I had to do it alone, with kids in tow. So I have never had anyone to go to for advice on how to go about being a good mum, I use you tube for tips and tricks. Your channel has been really helpful and this video in particular has made me feel so positive. Even my husband has noticed a difference since implementing some routine into our day to day life. Your doing really well and should be super proud of what you are achieving. Thank you for your advice it's really useful.i would love to see some videos on effective but calm ways to deal with conflict between siblings! My boys are 7, 4 and 2. You can imagine !!!!! 😱😊 x
Hannah, thank you so much for commenting and sharing a bit of your story. And I'm so glad you find some of my videos helpful - that's exactly why I do it! I can definitely do a video on conflict resolution - haha! xx
Em I loved this; never punishing your kids when you're angry is something I need to practise, I'm awful for taking the iPad away or sending Jasper to the stairs for timeout at the heat of a tantrum. Your winter boot story melted my heart, you're such a wonderful person lovely ❤
This is something ive always said I didn't want to do punish my children when I'm upset. Its horrible because we aren't thinking right when we are upset.
OMG 😱 You are inspiring so many people❤️ and are helping so many parents make they child's childhood the best they can 💖 I just want to say from me and the rest of the people watching your videos. THANK YOU SO MUCH 💖❤️💖❤️
Thank you Emily, i rewatch this video whenever i feel down in my parenting and each time it has helped me regain confidence and go back as a calmer parent..
your tips are so practical and on point. you did not ramble at all. i am 41 weeks, with my first child and i found a lot of good advice on your channel. things that actually work and make life better
This is one of the best "mummy videos" I have watched you are so down to earth and positive I also have 3 children and needed to hear this today. Thanks Hun love your videos! Xo
Hannah Maggs Yay! So glad you liked it :-) we should all lower or standards - we can't do it all (especially not when we're heavily pregnant Hannah :-) xx
I don't think you realize how helpful your videos are. Being pregnant with my first is quite scary because the whole idea of being a parent is so new! I'm still adjusting to being a wife, let alone a mum!! You inspire me so much! And what I really like about your videos is that you don't brag about expensive stuff which most of us viewers can't afford! Your hacks are super cool!! thank you thank you! !
4 Yr old video all I can say is wow 👌 amazing. I absolutely love your advice. You are such a good person your not trying to be posh or fake. Your mum is amazing too may God bless ye .
It is so good that you took your past experiences to be grateful for what you have today. Surprinsingly some people never overcome the past and see it as a trauma, instead of looking at it as an opportunity to grow and teach others. Thank you so very much for your videos, really appreciate them. I am newly wed and mommy to be in 3 more months, so I am learning A WHOLE LOT with your videos. Greetings from Montevideo, Uruguay!
I don't comment much but this is the best, most realistic, non preachy parenting advice video I've seen. Thank you, I think a lot of people need to see this ❤️
love the positivity! helps with days when baby is grumpy the whole day ...but the minute I have guests or my hubby comes home she is an angel and no one understands why I'm tired:):)
Emily, I am a new subscriber, currently 25 weeks pregnant!! Watching your channel makes me feel that I can do this!! Live in NYC with my fiancée but neither of us have family here so at times it's a bit scary to know I will have a baby basically on my own once he goes back to work... thank you for all the positive advices and please know you are helping others! You have a wonderful family! God Bless!!!!
Absolutely with you on parenting being easier outside. My little one is just like me in needing to be out of the house a lot. If things are deteriorating it's outside we go! It's like magic! Thanks for sharing your parenting perspective/being so grateful for your life as it is now. It was very touching!
Emily, I just watched this video again. I felt so tiref and sad, and after watching it I feel alive again. Thank you! Thank you for being such great person and mom. World needs people like you!
breathing is so important, we really forget to do that. i catch myself often holding my breath. You are one of the most inspiring mum on youtube, with actual helpful videos. Every mum should be subscribed to you! thank you so much for dedicating your very little time to youtube and creating videos.
I have only just recently stumbled upon your videos and I Can honestly tell you that I am a huge fan! You are an incredible mother . I love your positivity and the way you interact with your children. I have a 1 year old son and your videos have helped me so much with handling certain situations, especially his temper tantrums which he has just started! You've helped me stay positive and calm 🤗 I've been watching your other videos and your tips are great 👍 Keep it up, your an inspiration to all mums ✌️
Ahhhh Emily! You have been my go to for all the mama help i meed since i was preggers three years ago. Ive watched this a few times when im getting all flusterd to help me take a deep breath! ...really thanks very much!
I really appreciate you sharing your hard childhood in terms of clothing and other material necessities (boots with holes, many socks, plastic bag..). My mother used to buy a used big shoes for me so I can use it again for years..We’re 7 kids & I’m the eldest. Thankfully my kids (I have 3 boys) wouldn’t have to experience our hard life before. Yeah, our parents way of disciplining us is not applicable for us how to discipline our kids..Now we need to be more calm, understanding, no yelling and of course no hitting. But to nurture them with love, with boundaries, with respect and kindness.
I agree! I have been so blessed by your positive outlook on life and dealing with 3 children. My daily routine has changed and I've been so much more productive and happy at home. I just had a baby Sunday and I already have a toddler. I have watched most of your videos and will continue. Thank you so much for contributing yourself and your tips and your family. I appreciate you!
Gave this video a massive LIKE. thank you for being so real, so authentic, so kind, and so inspirational. I feel rejuvenated to handle my baby today... with a new calmer and loving outlook. thanku Emily. love your channel and love you as a wonderful mama.
It's great to hear a bit if your back story ! You are a great mum and definitely calm sometimes I see parents with their children and I don't know how I will stay calm when I have children but you've put things in perspective xx
Love how open and honest you are over your childhood and up bring and that your not looking for simpathy in any sort of way your just being honest.. I really admire that about you.. your a fantastic mum and a true inspiration xxxx
Great advice! Loved hearing about not competing, for example about what you have. I always feel bad about my house when I see yours. It made me feel better hearing it from you.
Emily, I have watched this video a few times now. I keep coming back to it when I'm having a hard time. It helps me gain perspective and is such a good reminder. Thank you 💞
I really loved the thing u said that " Are we all alive, yes we are then great we have won that day" I just loved it... I do think the same and it works for me as a parent as a person n for many other roles.....
It's so good Emily to hear about finishing the day with a positive experience, I do that and at first it was so hard because the children are quick to focus on all the negative! It really helps them develop skills of looking for the positive in their lives.
Thank you so much for this video! It is so relevant to all parents, not just moms... Breathe, and not comparing to everyone else is something I most definitely need to focus on that!
Love your perspective and that's really what it boils down to. How are we going to look at our lives--focus on the positive or on the things that are hard? It's all part of the package and like you said, at the end of the day we have each other and are so, so blessed. You have great tips and are a great example of good parenting. Thanks for sharing!
It's amazing how your videos come at the right time in my life. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and positive attitude. I'm a new Mom and I can use all the great advice possible.
I loved this Emily. I'm definitely taking some of these tips on board. Your mum did a brilliant job with you, your such a warm person and you haven't changed from when you started utube at all, That's why your getting your subs
I have a 21 month old girl and I think I'm doing quite well- she's happy, healthy and energetic. But people love to comment, they say she's small for her age (I know that already) implying I'm not feeding her properly, she needs to socialize with other kids, I need to do this and that.. those comments get to me and makes me wonder if I'm doing ok after all 😪 makes me fearful about meeting and seeing other mothers. You're right, we need to avoid mum shaming, we should be supporting each other! I use the iPad too so that I can keep calm and get things done! But of course people tell me I shouldn't be giving her any electronic device.
loved this video i am 31 weeks pregnant with my first baby super excited to become a mum. you are a wonderful mum to your 3 boys, i hope i can be half as good as u r. u inspire me all the time when i watch your videos. keep up the great work. lots of luv from Australia
I needed this. I'm a new subscriber and you've won my heart over. We grew up poverty stricken and lived with my grandparents + mom. I'll always remember my mom tried and that she did the best she could. Thank you for this. Seriously... thank you.
Emily, you are a lovely person both in body and mind! Love all your videos, your gentleness and charm are inspiring. God bless you in all your endeavors!
I love your attitude. It's easy to feel like a victim of our pasts, but it's a lot harder and more fulfilling to be better and happier. I also feel like getting out of the house is easier, there are more distractions! And I agree with you, some quiet time is needed and yes I resort to RU-vid when my little one is fussy and I need to get things done. It helped loads when traveling in the car and by plane. Love the video and no, you didn't ramble. It's all great stuff!
Emily, You re spot on in your advice. I am a nanny and have been in childcare for about 20 years.( not saying I know all about children) Your outlook is really good. Thank you for sharing.
Love your channel! I'm in the US and ran across your Mum Hacks from 2015 and I wondered if you had done a more recent one!! Love your videos so much and appreciate how authentic you are.
I'm going to be a first time mom in July so I've been watching a TON of mom videos. I love you the most, thanks for being so honest, positive and informative❤
Just found your channel through the 1950s video and loving it. These are great tips! Being a parent can be really overwhelming. These tips i think will help a lot.
So true we always find ourself competing and comparing ourself to other parents and it can get you down I've had my fair share of people put me down about my parenting because I parent my son differently than them, I'm a single mum to my son and just do what I can and find what works for me, you are an amazing mum to your beautiful boys x
I really really love all this advise it's so practical and sensible and easy!!!! my husband and I are expecting our 4th child soon and I often wonder how to be more organized and not feel overwhelmed 😊 you have given me some great ideas! thank you so much! Lisa from New Zealand xx
After having a tough night and morning with a 21 month old and a 3 week old this has been a fantastic video to watch. A lot of the points I knew and also practice (most of the time...I'm not perfect!) but it's great to just have a reminder sometimes to be grateful for what we have and to just breathe! I'm new to your channel over the last three weeks but I have to say, I love it! Thank you for making your videos!
I love this video so much, I watch it everytime I am struggling to stay calm as a parent and it always changes my state of mind and gives me the pep talk I need. Thank you Emily, you really are amazing xxx
Okay. So I have "favourited" this video of yours. It's so awesome to hear a similar mindset from a complete stranger. As a single working Mum/ sole parent of a 3 year old boy I have days when I feel like screaming and that I can't continue sanely. It does get overwhelming. It's nice to have it put into perspective from a neutral source. Thankyou for the guidance and keeping me on track. I know hes only as old as hell be today for today and tomorrow he'll be older, so I try maximise my time with him. ❤ Australia. xx
OMG, you dont know how bad I needed to hear that. Since my babygirl was born my boys have been driving me insane and now she is too. Everybody is fighting for my attention and making a me feel like I'm failing as a parent. These tips more helpful then the ones my family been giving me. Thank you!!! 🙏
Love your videos! Currently getting used to having our third child a couple of months ago in addition to our four and six year old. So so true about hanging out with the right, positive, encouraging moms!
Thank you so so much for the quality of content of your videos. As a working mum of two boys, 4 and 3 years old, I find your videos so helpful and destressing. You make all this home organisation seem so easy. I just discovered today your channel and of course I suscribed. Thanks again and hello from Senegal, West Africa.
It's so refreshing to hear that you have the same struggles I have and I relate to so many of them! I call the hour or so between dinnertime and bedtime the witching hour. My son has always found this time of day difficult! I also encountered nasty mum's at a baby group and felt relief when I stopped contact with them. Thanks for another great blog xx
Your very welcome Emily. I hadn't finished with the last message when Harry nudged my arm and it sent lol. I love how you opened up about how little you had when you were younger, and even when Frazer was born you had a second hand pram. That's why people warm to you,I've never heard you brag about anything you have. You and your hubby work very hard so it's lovely to think of all the lovely things you have now. You are a breath of fresh air to watch. Xx
Emily, you have no idea how much I needed to see this video tonight. thank you so much for being the wonderful person you are and for being so inspiring. My eldest is reeeeeally pushing the boundaries at the moment as we head into the dark depths of the hormonal pre-teen stage. Nothing I do helps so I need to remember to stay calm and not react to her strops and moods. Trouble is she turns on her younger sister if she doesn't get a reaction from me. it is truly exhausting but I know it's tough for her too. I must remember to stop and BREATHE. Thank you Lovely xxx
Thank you so much for this, Emily! You are truly inspiring. I am a firm believer in "me time" even if it's just taking time for a bubble bath. I am also a Mom of 3 children and taking time for myself each day makes me a better Mom. I also think it allows your children to realize you are not just a Mom but a dynamic person. We also ask the kids what the best part of the day was. It is always interesting to hear what they are grateful for. Thank you!!
I respect you so much for doing this video and your opinions. No matter how different we are culturally religiously but everyone can be kind and caring like you.❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this. I really needed to hear this today. You are such an inspiration and a lovely mum. love watching your videos you really make me smile. x
Thank you for sharing your videos. They have helped so much as i am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child at the age of 43, (i think the news has sunk in lol). You have reminded me of how much fun family life can be and how cute babies are. I'm now getting excited about this baby and cant wait to be a mum again . Thank you Emily xx
I found your channel today and watched few of your videos. I am going trough some very challeging times and your videos reminded me to be positive, grateful and present parent and pearson. This video is exactly what I was looking for, you made my day! Thank you for being such a genuine and honest pearson! Have a nice day :)
Yes our past experiences can shape our characters to the truest form. And if we've had tough experiences we can gain empathy and compassion for all children and humanity. Great video thank you.
Being a new mom to a two week old, your videos are so helpful! I love how you are honest about being a mom. My up bringing was messy and strict. So I really want to be everything my mom couldn't be. She was a single mom with two jobs, so there wasn't much love or affection in the house or understanding for that matter. However, I can't stop kissing and loving on my little boy. You really inspire me! You've done a great job with your channel and handsome little boys!
TFS! Love your videos and tips! Just delivered our fourth and final baby on 4/8/17!! 😍 so wish me luck!! We will be definitely keeping these tips in mind!
Thank you! I needed to hear this. I am a young pregnant first time mum. My emotions go from ecstatically exited and happy to being nervous, scared and stressed very quickly.
I live for your vids! they helped me a lot (my son is 3 month old) and I try to follow your advice. You're such an inspiration and I really admire you. All the best to you and your beautiful family from our tiny one!
