It annoys me when people ask me if I work? I hate answering such a question. I work at home. I cook, clean, take care of our kid, laundry etc. All of it is work. What is wrong with these people.
Jency Varghese , I came upon your comment and it spoke exactly what I was thinking. I am mother of an 8yo boy, and a stay at home mom , and I am constantly being compared to other mothers who have a career, who earns income , who can afford what they want anytime they want and looking awesome with perfect hair, skin and makeup while juggling everything. The pressure to be a the career woman mom is strong in my society, especially the in-laws.
I tell people yes it is work. Then I get people who say well I do those things and I still work. Then I say but think about all the things that go undone. There are always things to be added to the to do list.
+Bia Kolari You are definitely not worthless! Your worth doesn't come from a paycheck but to be honest, it never truly did anyway. Even if you went to work and made all the money for the household, you still shouldn't have counted your worth by that just as you shouldn't count your worth now because you don't bring in a paycheck at all. A father once said that our worth is not in our jobs because an employee is replaceable. A job is replaceable. But the loss of a mother devastates a family and its effects ripple through time.
Never feel like that. Talk to your husband about how you feel. Sometimes, validation and genuine appreciation from your partner will help boost your lifestyle. If all that fails, then find a job...any job. Don't stay home, because it will eventually lead to self-pity, low self-esteem and regrets. It is not healthy for you, your marriage and your spouse.
So sad women feel this way today, it's a tragedy to our children and husbands and families because motherhood and wifehood is so necessary and essential to our survival. Wishing you ladies well 🙏💖
33 years old 3 kids (10,6 & 2) and stay at home mom. I woke up today feeling like a total failure as a person, mom, wife, daughter etc.. I just feel like everything I do is not enough or good enough. I want to change . I’m starting to get to a point where I find myself very depressed and it reflects on my family. I asked God for help. I can’t do this on my own. Foreign country, no family or friends. I’m glad RU-vid exists. Love to all of the moms out there that might feel the same way.
I'm so sorry that you're having a tough time right now. Just take it one day at a time and keep reminding yourself how much you are doing for your family! I bet you are doing more than you realize. Even if for a few days, write down all the things you do for your family and your home and I bet you'll be amazed at how much you are doing for them! I know it can be discouraging but you definitely aren't alone and there are tons of women on RU-vid, and in the world, that sometimes feel the same way as you!

I can't believe how little there is out there for modern housewives. I found your video through a search, and am so glad I did. I value my role as a housewife and sahm... yet struggle to get behind the Christian websites/videos (... I am not). Thank you for putting together something that appeals to a wider audience. Being a housewife is a dying art, and I love to see resources that help people carry it on.
As a MUCH older SAHM & Housewife...you are such a blessing to other younger girls...so they know that it is okay to embrace their role as a mother, homemaker and wife. Once upon a time in the world it was a needed, noble, high sought after 'profession'. It is a blessing and honor to be at home. Raising children...I mean...when celebrities get up there at whatever award ceremony they are at and thank someone for their success...who do they thank? Their mothers. Mothers have the absolute greatest influence on people in our society as a whole. Truly raising children to the very best of your ability. Raising loving, kind, compassionate, intelligent, successful, happy, healthy people in today's society...it's a HUGE task. It's a very valid profession. As your little ones grow...you will truly see. Thank you so much for this. I'm a young married sahm to a two year old and have really been struggling with this role. I didn't grow up seeing anyone that did this or have anyone in my family that does this so I am happy to see your channel to get advice and tips on how to stay on top of things and help everything run smoother for my husband and son. I know in Titus 2 of the Bible it talks about the experience wives/moms teaching the younger mothers how to love their husband and children, be discreet, and be home keepers. I'm a 19 year old pregnant housewife, and I'm so happy I found this video. I honestly love taking care of our house, and taking care of my partner and our soon arriving baby boy.
Helping your children grow up to be self sufficient is very important I agree. I see friends/family members give their children zero responsibilities and just do everything for them and that is no good!
I love the advice in this video! Well done. I think many women in many situations - SAHMs, working moms, women who are caretakers to their elderly parents/in-laws, young women starting out in the adult world, etc - would benefit greatly from hearing this. I especially like the advice about setting goals (it is so very important to have goals for the future but often neglected by many!), establishing daily routines (as these help lessen the stress on our already constrained time), and taking care of one's self. We, as women, spend much time focusing on the needs and demands of others - whoever those 'others' may be - that we forget to take care of our physical & mental wellbeing and to look after our personal goals. Truly, regardless in what capacity we work, we're human beings like everyone else. It's important to never lose sight of that fact.
This was a great video! I sometimes say I don't work, but my First Lady at church told me not to say that again. She asked what is that I do all day? I told her cook, clean, and make sure my hubby has what he needs. She said well that's work, because I know your hubby is happy that you take care of him and the house. TFS...God bless you!!!

I realize this is an old video but Wow I really needed this today. I was feeling very down and like I am not contributing to society. I was feeling guilty staying at home and not making money. But thank you for the insight and showing how important this job really is!!

This video put a light in me like a breath of fresh air. It was perfect thank you. The video was simple yet incredibly helpful and informative. A lot of the traps you mention I fell into as well and I was to the point where I felt like my life was meaningless and no one understood. Loss of direction is a perfect way to put it! When we're the ones in charge sometimes it's hard to know what to do first but in a way, it does get easier over time. Especially when your children get old enough to really help around the house, it will help reduce a lot of your stress about housework. Plus, you know you're helping them for when they are adults and have their own homes to take care of. I'm so glad the video was helpful! Thanks so much for watching! :)

I agree with all your points but I do especially agree with teaching your children how to be helpful in the house. My youngest are 4 and 3 and they know how to clean up after themselves. They don't always expect me to do everything for them.

I'm not really a Christian but I really like this. I think the way we keep our home is a reflection of how much we love ourselves too. Before I had my son I didn't take care of my home. I tried doing it for him and it wasn't always staying on track. Now I realize I deserve to make my home a place I love to spend time for ME just as much as for him. I love and respect myself so that I can do the same for my family
i have been a stay at home mom for 9 years and sometimes i feel like im an (old stay at home mom) its a struggle forsure trying to keel busy everyday ks hard and meeting friends who stay home cause i have not found any productive sahm in my area . Alot of moms i know work:( so not having someone in my situation to talk to is difficult but i love this video and thank you for it:)
BusyMommyLife By Sadie It can feel very isolating sometimes to be a stay-at-home Mom, especially when you don't have any friends that stay at home. I didn't really either for about 10 years. Ironically, it's just been since we began homeschooling that I've met some other mothers who stay at home and homeschool. I think until I found those ladies, that I just learned to invest my time in my family and myself. I'm so glad you liked the video and I appreciate you watching!

I came across this video while looking for stay at home mommas and I absolutely love this. I have been building my channel for almost a year now and love finding gals out there to make friends with. These words really meant a lot to me because I am so bad about falling into the trap of comparing, etc.
I’m 3 months into this stay at home mom house wife life my daughters 2 and Ive had such a struggle with this feeling like my worth isn’t as good as his since he brings in money but this isn’t just lounge around all day doing nothing it’s constantly keeping up on everything mentally it’s hard to I was full time before as a hairstylist and the best part is I still have family and friends that will still come over to get their hair done which keeps me sane but you’ve helped me so much thank you
It definitely isn't a lounge around job! It's the hardest job in the world and just keep reminding yourself that nothing you could ever get paid for is more important than what you're doing. Your worth is not in money but in time, effort and love. It does get easier as you get used to it, figure out a rhythm and start doing things for yourself, too. :)
Thank you for the tips! i was raised by a single father...so when i had my daughter and got married...i had no idea how to be a SAHM. It seemed easy at first- but i got burnt out after a few months. There's just so much that goes into it.
There really is a lot to being a stay-at-home Mom and I think people often think it's the easy choice rather than being a working Mom. I'm sure you're doing a great job!
It helps so much doesn't it? Have you started your goals for next year yet? I keep a running list all year long for the following year but now is the time I really start breaking it down into categories and time frames.

I am at that stage that you described where I am running all around trying to get it all done it one day and not getting beyond the basics... dishes laundry and preparing meals... I also am planning on homeschooling my children next year. Which I am looking forward to since I myself am a homeschool graduate but also wondering "how am I going to do all of it?" lols. I needed this... thank you... I am a new stay at home mom... I have never stayed been without a job for more than a month since I was 15... I have been a stay at home mom with my 2 yr old soon to be 3 year old for 2 months so far... and I am enjoying it but I am struggling to not support my family... but this is helpful... helps me occupy my time and planning days around my family and home will help me feel like I am bringing something to the table in my household.
You are definitely contributing to your family as a stay-at-home Mom! You probably work harder, with more hours, than you ever did at a "real" job! You're doing great!

I'm so thrilled to see so many videos on You Tube about house wives and stay at home mom's. Thank you for making this video. I stay at home most of the week and I have grown to love it. I must confess that I am not the best housekeeper, but I will keep working on it. I do love cooking though.
I'm so glad this came at the right time and was helpful! With your kids having a week off, perhaps it would help to plan out certain activities to do with them each day and then after that, explain to them that they also have chores, independent playtime, etc. That way, they're getting to spend extra time with you that you've made time for in your day but they also have to be responsible for keeping themselves busy while you do other things that you need to do. I hope that helps!

I became a stay at home mom a couple of years ago. I have become a hermit and don't go out at all. My friends gossip so I cut them off a lot. I gained sooo much weight and I feel like I will never get out of this deep hole. thank you for your video. I am going to use your tips.
It can be so difficult but try not to lock yourself away! You need to do something that you enjoy and even without friends, find something you enjoy doing and makes you happy! Even if it's something as simple as going to the grocery alone, taking a walk, etc. Once you start making yourself a priority, too...you'll start to feel happier! :)

Thank you so much for posting this video! I am currently a military spouse and have been feeling the exact way you have described! It's very hard for me to find someone on RU-vid who shares the same outlook on family and glorifying God, so I greatly appreciate you sharing this! My husband and I are expecting our first little one in two months, and we are doing our best to get prepared for his arrival. This pregnancy has been difficult due to us getting married last year, and me moving across the entire country to live where he is stationed at. I often feel alone, and I am a very shy person, but I know that certain things keep me going every day; knowing that a have a miracle growing inside of me, and knowing that because of what I do as a housewife (and soon to be stay-at- home mom), my husband is able to work 12 hour shifts and still get sleep and nourishment. I also remind myself that I will get to experience being a mom that has tons of time with her kids, and I'll be able to see them grow! I'm learning more and more that I have a bigger role than I think, and that certainly helps keep me going! :)

A lot of people can underestimate the importance of staying home and taking care of the family but it's such an important job. In fact before we got married I was supposed to go to basic training myself a month later... but that didn't pan out the way we thought, and if I had joined, we wouldn't be expecting our little man either! I know I'm a younger wife and soon to be mom (I'll be 20 in December), so things can get difficult and worshiping God can be a struggle; but I try to remind myself that if God has the time to pay attention to everyone, then I should make time to acknowledge him! Your words are inspiring, and I can tell that you are truly a good person, a great mom, and a wonderful wife. I'd like to say thank you for being an inspiration to me, and I wish you luck in more of your videos!
Isn't it funny how things work out? :) One of my best friends is a young Mom, she's 20. She has a good head on her shoulders though and it sounds like you do, too! I don't thinking not spending enough time with God is an age thing. I think it happens to everybody no matter how old you are. Life is only going to get busier so it definitely doesn't get any easier with age as far as that goes. It's all a matter or priorities and habits you set for yourself when taking time to spend with God. Thank you so much for your kind words. I try to be a good person and an even better Mom. Life, for me, has always been pretty busy, and it slowed down this past year which was a huge adjustment for me; but I think that with baby coming I'll soon be back on the busy track. Even though I may be younger, I perfectly understand feeling like I don't succeed all the time, but from what I can tell you are definitely a successful individual, mom, wife, and christian; you don't always have to have it together! I love this, thank you so much! I have just moved to another state and worked from home prior while raising my four children and decided to leave that job and become 100 dedicated to my family. I feel so much guilt and less of a person because I feel like I am struggling with new schedules and have no ability to contribute $ to the house, school hours are very different where I moved too and so finding a job outside is difficult, but my goal was to stay at home with my kids.... You are right about not leaving the house days on end.....I feel like the walls are closing in at times, lol....I have been envied for working from home and staying home with my children or moms will look down at me because I stay at home and do not contribute financially. Thanks for helping me mentally hash this out and find my worth and realize I'm not alone.

I'm stuck in bed sick. I know it's so stupid, but I'm always hardest on myself when I'm sick. I feel like such a failure as a mom and have time to sit around and think about all the ways I fail. It's awful! Anyway. Great points. I needed to here this. Now I'm putting my phone down and I'm going to spend some time prayer journaling. :)
laurettabear I'm sorry to hear that you're sick. I think you're just harder on yourself when you're sick because you don't feel well. It's kind of how like things always seem worse at night when you're tired but then in the morning, they're usually a little bit brighter. :) Try not to think about all the ways that you've failed but in all the little successes you've had during the day. Even if you have to write them down, I'm sure you've really done better than you think. Prayer journaling sounds like a great solution to your yucky mood. I like to also list the things I'm grateful for when I'm feeling bad. And as for the things I feel that I'm failing at, I like to make a list of ways to do better in small, manageable ways. I'm big about lists if you couldn't tell. :) I hope you feel better soon!!!

I stumbled upon your video & I really enjoyed it. After working for so long, it was a bit of a struggle adjusting to being a stay at home mom for the first time and I'm going on 2 years in September. I will admit that I do some of the things you say not to do lol but I am trying everyday. a friend of mine is a stay at home mom and loves it she made a few sacrifices i.e. she dropped out of the art college she attended after falling pregnant and put a lot her hobbies and dreams on hold but she's really happy she's happily married to another friend of mine, who's a pretty cool guy, has 3 kids and now that all her kids go to school, she now has time to hang out with friends and pursue her hobbies that she originally put on hiatus such as modelling
That's great that your friend is doing so well! When kids go to school during the day it is much easier to make time for your hobbies and dreams while still being there for your kids! Thanks so much for your comment!

I went through depression at first because my parents both worked and I was not used to be home thought I was lazy...now I dont think I can try rig her now. It's just me taking care of kids, and I'm literally doing something all day yes I sit but not all day. Even dropping kids I see other parents. So I love my job.

Just found your Channel. I'm a Christian women and your channel has really saved my life. I'm a stay at home mother and a wife. I have three kids and am expecting and I also have been married for 7 years. I have been struggling with depression and have had marriage issues for the last three years and I'm at a breaking point. +Cheyenne G I'm so glad that I was able to be helpful! I know you must be going through a really hard time right now but there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Just do what's best for your kids and yourself and really focus on that until you can find a solution to your marriage. I'm not going to pretend to know your situation or exactly how you feel but I do know that God can get us through anything if we will let Him. I will definitely say a prayer for you!

Spot on, I have been a stay at home mama for 11yrs. come April 2016. I love being able to be here and serve my family. Now my parents are coming to an age when they also need me. I feel Blessed by G-d to be able to help them and not have to ask a boss for time off to do so.

I can relate to alot of comments and this video. I'm a housewife (because I cannot medically get a different job. ) . I enjoy being a housewife and looking after a little one but I also enjoy being and artist and musician. So to me I have 3 jobs. Housewife, musician and artist. Fair enough there's not much financial gain from it but can't do anything about that . Love the kitchen.

I don't understand why someone wants to get out of their house and go see people if they don't have to. I am stay at home mom of 3, and I also raise chickens, garden, puppies, do most of yard work and take care of the pool. So, kind of like work at home mom. Even if I would work, all the housework would still be on me, because my husband never helped me with anything, even when I worked before. Now I started my youtube channel, where I share lots of tips on saving money and budgeting.
