The hardest thing for new photographers to overcome is communication skills and trying to grasp the models style while directing the model in good positions. I think this was raw and very cool, a lot of people hating on Amina for being harsh but I felt like it was weird for her because there wasn't much communication from the photographer. Ive had this happen a few times, it helps a lot to work with friends and people to know to get better with communication and positioning

People that expect novice people to know the basics. Sometimes thats not the case. Feel bad for speedy. In this field you start to realize you have to apply your personality to make the model comfortable. Even if modeling is their profession. Highly recommend starting with friends and family. God he has so much responsibility in one session. Bless this production. Smh.

No she's right, her face was over exposed in most of the photos, and most of the time parts of her were cut off. He needed to learn how to prefire the flashes from the camera and needs to learn how to frame properly. He'll be fine after that.

Amina was stand offish as hell. It's irritating I feel a lot of women who are either of status or know they are "attractive." Feel they can have any type of attitude they want towards anyone. She's right in saying when shooting with someone new, it can be awkward ect but at the same time you have to open up yourself. You have to work and bounce off each other. Her body language showed she either had an attitude or wasn't in the mood since she walked through the door. The energy you give is what you receive.

But that goes with the trade. Understanding that and creating and directing energy to achieve a shot is part of the job description of a fashion portrait photographer. Yeah it sucks but with a few years of experience in that form of photography you pick up on how to do this. Can't just expect a bunch of food and sleep deprived models who's entire career is superficial in nature to be in a great mood. They are expensive and paid by the hour so it's the photographer's responsibility to pick that up.

I'm not saying that they should but in all walks of life there are ass holes. You can't let someone else's mood undermine your ability to do your job. And as a photographer you aren't conversing with someone as much as you're giving direction to the shoot. You have to read your subject and adapt your shoot to achieve what you want.

I really like this episode. They brought in some honest and confident models who spoke their mind. It's always good to make sure that your model is being honest so you can know when to change up your style to meet their standards. As a photographer you need to be able to take criticism and use it to improve yourself though most of the time, at the end of the day, an artist (photographers included) are our own harshest critics.

Speedy was nervous and shy. I 100% agree with the models. If you want to become a photographer you MUST LISTEN AND CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER. Especially when meeting each other for the first time. You're going to see pubic hair, you're going to see blood, you're going to see scars, you're going to see tears, you're going to see them nude, you're going to see stretch marks, etc. Photo shoots are meant to be raw. Otherwise, you aren't doing your job.

First off Speedy, great work. You did amazing, especially considering it was your first shoot. There is a lot of work to be done on your hobby to make you better, but that comes after the start. Takes the first step to run a marathon. And your marathon has just begun. Practice your technique, take more pics, and learn more. Do not let the words from Amina Blue stop you. That was really mean of you Amina. There are more polite ways to tell a rookie that his work is not up to par yet. That was just rude.
