In this episode there are lots of problems on a unvented hot water cylinder from heating, expansion vessels, faulty safety devices and leaks! Like, comment and sub!!
Knew there was gonna be an overtightened olive in there, I like to change the olive/nut on new fitting aswell, looks better and gives you more confidence in being weep free. The voiceover style recording turned out really well. 👌👌👌
I was recently doing similar job...when I took the drain valve insert out...the the rotten washer got stuck inside, in a way that water was coming sytaight down instead of going to the hose. I lost control over it and the water was gushing out. It was a big cylinder. I finally managed to stick it back in somehow...but the water was at least 65degC. A big piece of skin came off my finger. It was a nightmare, but it was either this or big spillage. Conclusion: always ask customer to use up all hot water before working on a cylinder.
Good vid bud. 👍 What's the rules on leaving a cylinder filling loop connected. Did my water regs last week, I know it's a no no on boilers but I don't know about cylinders. (Not a criticism, I'm an adult student retraining as a plumber just trying to learn by asking questions where I find gaps in my knowledge.)
why change the olive when it hasnt been overtightened, if you are changing the valve, just whack some PTFE or jointing compound on it,it'll be fine, nvr had a problem with it,its just creating more work removing olive when its unneccessary. also, ive got to say that i hate the filling loops with just one valve and people always fit the double check valve on heating, drives me nuts ,cant use fillin loop to drain down then, i always use the type with 2 valves, always with DCV on cold so that the return side can be used as a drain off point. good video nonethless 👍
