Years ago there was an movie where the “dummy” was the ventriloquist and the guy holding the dummy was the actual dummy. I think it was written by Alfred Hitchcock.
I'm almost 60 - it's never too late to pick up a new hobby. Plus, learning new stuff keeps those little grey cells humming along happily... and this is way more fun than crossword puzzles! :)
Thanks so much Jeff, I just purchased my first ventriloquist dummy a little over a month ago, which I decided on Billy from the horror movie Dead Silence. He wasn't but a little over $400, but has already caused countless hours of laughter between my family and friends and your videos have made me able to bring my little scary buddy to life. That being said I really appreciate these video lessons! God Bless!
I just spent 30 minutes in the mirror trying to speak the letters clearly but also doing my best to avoid my throat moving. It's NOT easy! But, as I went I felt comfortable not moving my lips and practicing minimizing my throat movements while still speaking clearly. Certainly a workout, that's for sure.
This is the best thing has ever happened ! I am a big fan of yours, recently during my University years I bought a hand puppet and I was practicing (I keep talking to myself but I enjoy it hahaha). Now I've seen you releasing this course for free, how cool is that. Thank you so much Jeff
At 1:14 I said “A, C,” and I couldn’t help but think of how to spell Achmed’s name and said, “A, C, Phlem.” And laughed my butt off. I’m glad I clicked the like button!
Jeff you're an awesome guy giving back to the community like you do and having stood forth through so much through the years that I've been following you since the 90s I'm still in your corner bud, I always will be
I am proud to say that ventriloquism is now a favorite hobby of mine, I still need to practice and I also feel like making my original characters Mr. Muffins (AKA Muffins): A talking black cat that is usually...really ANNOYING Flare: A talking dragon that wants everything to be burned or heated even tho he isn't evil, but he can be kind of a mood sometimes Bobby Buddy: A robot that is extremely polite and positive, even if you try to hurt him (which will hurt you since he's metal) and yelling at him, he will still be kind to you, kind of like a best friend that is always there for you
I once asked a ventriloquist how he did it, and his arrogant response was "Can you keep a secret?" Of course you'd be like "Sure." and he responds with "So can I."
I randomly felt today huh I'm bored you know what I want to learn ventriloquism and then learn jeff Dunham made video lessons... this is a good quarantine
You're honestly my favorite comedy guy/person/dude. my mom and i did think about going, but it costs a lot to get in and we'd be far in the back. anyway, this video's lesson is literally easy to complete unless you're physically incapable of talking without moving your lips of course. helps that i've been doing it at random points before even seeing this video. i'm not a people person, and i don't like being the center of attention so there's no way i'm going to be a ventriloquist in a profession like yours. There are other real life scenarios where you'd need to be able to do this stuff though. like if you are being hunted by some psycho and hide. you can just throw you voice down the hall. or if you just want to screw with someone to be funny.
I'm looking forward to doing this with my daughter who always said she could see my voice moving when we'd do FaceTime and I would do my stuffed dog's voice and have to shift the camera away from my face so she couldn't see my lips moving. Every time she caught me she'd be like, "I saw your lips moving, Dad!" Now I'll be able to do this WITHOUT having to shift the camera away. So exciting!
My son just got his first doll after watching your shows on Netflix. He's 10 and has a sleepy version. He's so excited to try it out he lives your videos and learning. 💜💜💜💜💜
Jeff you changed my life in 2011 when I first saw you my dad put on a DVD of you and ever since then I watched you now I'm getting puppets and taking your lessons you are the best
"Good morning infidele", I have a clown muppet since 2015 but I didn't really practice the ventriloquism. It's really good to watch this lesson and all the others. That makes me want to try again ! Thank you so much for this
Thank you for doing this, Jeff. My girlfriend and I saw your show in Albany, New York and had an absolutely blast!!!! Without spoiling anything to others, the "Free Shit" was amazing!!!! Have an amazing weekend and thank you for spreading joy across the world with what you do and the little guys that help you do it. - Devan P.S. FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!
I've been doing close-up magic for about 16 years and just the other day I thought to try and learn ventriloquism, too. Pretty neat, I wasn't expecting Jeff Dunham to put lessons up here on RU-vid.
I was just like your puppet!!Puppet: can we do the next lesson now? You: no. vinquilitrisim is about practice.Puppet: aww... C'mon!Me: I feel you, I feel you
Hi Jeff out of all the other characters that you have, Achmed is the best, and his dialogue "silence?I kill you!!!" is the most hilarious. Love you man.
It's so funny this is the video I came across first, as it was your great act with your ventriloquist dummies that got me interested to truly learn ventriloquism. I used to do voices and comedic skits with my pets, but of course my mouth still moved. Thank you for being so funny and teaching this for free. Love Achmed and Walter especially.
My son has been following Jeff Dunham. Hes even cutting up his sisters teddy bears and fixing them like dummies. He attended his school talent show as a ventriliquest. He did d So good.. 👌
Idk why he doesn't actually have a full course from beginner to advanced on his trade. On Udemy or masterclasses. The man is one of the greatest comedians in modern history. And the fact he is willing to actually teach it, maybe it would be a good idea to teach people who want to make a legit career out of his style of comedy, or comedy in general. Jeff's jokes are very well made, professional and memorable. He'd be a great teacher, it would be really interesting how he practices, how he writes, how he deals with management, etc. Nobody sees the work it takes to be a world class act. I think it would be amazing.
