Excellent and intelligent methods . Not just while trekking but in daily life too we should adopt these methods . I myself have incorporated some of these in my schedule.
And the 'DABBAS' will increase weight too, which is good for your legs & back in a long trek. Genius plan. BTW, I pack my dry snacks in plastic bag while I'm on a trail because they are light weight, and keep those bags folded inside my sack when they are empty. I use them again for next time. I am also against plastic using, but I use it efficiently. I reuse them several times.
As long as you're reusing the plastic, it should be alright. Doesn't make sense to throw away plastic to buy more packaging. But on longer treks, where you may have to pack lunch with you, plastic bags may not make much sense. You'll need boxes for that.
@@Indiahikes With all due respect about your comment, I use plastic for even 10 days trek. It depends on individual that how he or she plan the packing, pack the sack & manage it for the trail. For longer treks you have to keep in mind to have less weight possible to take care of your back & knees. Lunch boxes will increase weight & take unwanted space even when they are empty. We should educate ourselves to use plastics intelligently. There is no question to throw plastics anywhere! This is my point of view and it may differ to others. * I use my aluminium mess tin to pack my lunch o the trail.
Trekking means traveling from one place to another on foot. Carrying the weight of those steel/plastic tiffin on the shoulder will never be an easy task. It's better, to take all food stuffs in plastics. At the same time make sure not to throw any plastics on the road or elsewhere. Instead keep them all in your pockets/bag & dispose them to your next nearest Dustbin. Believe me, I have just completed SANDHAKPHU Trek last week. Try to carry as light weight as possible.
Sourabh you can carry your snacks in cloth bags instead of single use plastic bags or it can all fit in a medium sized Tiffin which will be sufficient for one trek. The weight will be negligible. Ya, it's important to dispose plastic in the right manner but the whole idea is to put a plug on purchasing plastic so that we won't have anything to dispose off.
How many are conscious about this ? So better we go with cloth bag and a single tiffin box. I dont think we need to carry anything beyond 2kgs(everything included) we can utilise the combo of cloth paper bags(non disposable). I understand the weight we add becos of these steel boxes shown in the video(the idea i believe is to drive being conscious on avoiding plastic).
