Hahaha I was just sayimg I went from real shit to relatively mediocre lol watching the goalie when I shoot rather than my player and my stick has helped.
That's how I felt 3 years ago and just abandoned my season mode and played Be A Pro all the time. Now I finally started playing GM mode and have been trash for a few games but managed to get better as the season unfolded (just now ended a losing streak and it feels good lol) I haven't played online much because my internet sucks unfortunately
Music is the go to when playing competitive. Allows me to “vibe” and feel confident no matter how the game is going. I suggest everyone give it a shot. Put a playlist on shuffle and go to work. No need to chirp your opponent unless after you hand them a tasty rage quitting L hahaha!
I got here because i am a newbie and the first ranked match i got fired by someone who has 200 hours ingame. The first this guy says is how to beat newbies. Thanks a lot mate
I get checked off of the puck SOO easily when entering the offensive zone.... and i cant do the same when my opponent is breaking out. I have good game sense and know how to move the puck well enough but this game has been pretty frustrating so far
Maybe try a dump and chase method. It’ll get the puck past your opponent. And a lot of people struggle picking up the puck and turning it around. Good luck!
All I really wanted was to be better playing NHL, not compete online. Now I have to change my tv for a monitor, and buy a pair of headset and listen to lofi hip hop to improve my passing, shot accuracy, deking, breakaway pass, or shot blocking? WAWOT: what a waste of time, for me at least.
I'm a top 100 vs player on Xbox but I get really frustrated with the AI D getting lost and not skating. It's really bad this year. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've watched so many replays that just boil down to bad AI.
Im a 66 year old new gamer and find NHL2020 frustrating trying to just negotiate thru the differnt rooms...sigh...even to leave is a hassle...not like the early days, in, out, do , go, quit. Easy Peasy EaSports!
Forgot that having money to buy packs or having time to work the market. A lot of people lack money and/or time to compete at a high level. You can work the market without spending 100's in packs but it takes soooo much time. People with money and time are always at the top of the boards.
How does the oponent in online versus always have faster players and make big hits with no speed or anything... and my AI dont do the same as their AI... basically doesnt do anything and no strategy works... pls help!
Great video, thank you. Just picking up NHL again for the first time in nearly a decade.... One question for you, or anyone that may know where to point me.... I dont use twitch, I am old lol, who or what channels would you suggest watching to see veteran to top online players play? I would like to glean some advanced info from them before I step out for the first time into online play.... Thank you in advance and thanks again for the video
Good vid ! I’ll have my Strategy adjustment zero and still my strategies change. I set them and halfway through the game, they’re different. So I gave up and just put strategy adjustment all the way up
If you change them in the game, it will only apply to the line you change it for. And then they’ll reset the next game. If you set them up in the menu before getting an opponent, they should save for your session.
Hey Brianstormed, how do you deal with a player who spams stick lift all the time? If there is a video of yours that you discuss this could you please let me know which one it is? Might save me ALOT of grief haha
If thats all they do, you have to try to maintain a small distance between them so that its far enough for a high sticking call. The stick lift is meant to counter puck protection by getting you to let go of the puck, so distancing yourself is key
Just started playing nhl finding the attacking mechanics farely easy, I like poke checking less cheese than being basic and just shoulder charging them any tips that I can use to make defence a bit easier
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot else you can do about it. You can pressure the puck carrier or go for a stick lift on the pass receiver but there is quite a bit of risk involved in both plays.
2 things id add 1. Dont be high or drunk when you play 2. A correct amount of caffeine always makes me play better. I only ever play eashl but when my buddys hop on drunk or even tired it never usually goes to well. Great video though like i said i never play HUT but these tips can for sure help in EASHL. Ps you should make a video like this dedicated to EASHL Club.
Correct. But think about how many people use the word "glitch goal". They aren't talking about the wraps in division 5 or 6, its just the basic shots that go in more times than not.
@@Brianstormed for reference i lost to noregretzkys in ot in the 3rd round of gwc last year...he is better than me but he resorts to shortside quite a bit so it wasnt super hard to defend
I'm no expert on this years title but have you tried changing your strategies on the fly? Use full on neutral zone trap for your own zone and a balanced breakout and you should be able to get skaters around his d men.
Jay Thompson thanks bro. I’ve tried a lot of different things but still not found the key. Never really gone full trap as I ended up giving up too much offense but I’ll give this a spin.
@@chrissteele6382 yeah the idea is to use shorter passes to get up ice. If they try to hit you super aggressive you can try using light R1 saucer passes to streaking forwards to get breakaways and odd man rushes.
Sorry I comment as the video goes on but you would think with the technology when making any sports game they use real professional players thoughts for the AI
Whats your ping when u play?...i think IT is my biggest problem...im from Slovakia and i never go under 40..my internet is good..its the best i Can have ...i usually play with players from. Europe...i dont know where IS problem 🙁
I usually green bar without issues. If I yellow or red bar I quit before the game starts. But yeah, it's probably under 40 most of the time. I can only imagine what you have to deal with playing in Slovakia. I would recommend trying to find other players from Slovakia and form a group that you can play with regularly.
I'm not that great with monitor recommendations. You just want one with a small response time. Depending on your budget, the size, brand, and resolution could all play an impact.

Brianstormed thanks! Missed your comment! I just got myself one gaming screen - it’s an Asus MG248QR 24” I browsed many reviews and read some blogs, there were similar screens out there as well, still don’t know the code what all those letter mean, but there is an issue - it should be 144hz, but on the Xbox video Settings I am not able to enable Variable Refresh Rate option. Playing the game on 60hz on this monitor is no different than on a TV :( Were you able to set everything up?
Owen Hall thats very inconvenient, since I don’t own any Windows PC. Well, I got another Asus monitor, that is meant to be specific for console gaming. Well, I guess, I don’t see too big difference, although - it’s the best experience I had playing the game
Danny provided a solid answer, but it entirely depends on your skill level. If you are new to the game, I'd recommend Versus as the game to practice on. The reason being, you are slowly going to get harder and harder competition. In HUT, there are a lot of variables that come into play such as going up against a better team or not finding a match in your division so it searches outside of your division.
Brianstormed thanks bro, I’ve only played nhl 15,18,19 and 20 so I’m abit behind but I just find it hard keeping the puck in their zone and hard keeping it on a rush
So Brian, I guess after running away from nhl19 you’re now the prodigal son returning to the warmth and comfort of nhl20, right? You like this game, right? Don’t go abandoning us again!
Primetime cards are given out to players who performed well in their real world games, usually because they got many goals or points. When they do so, EA will give them a +2 upgrade for their efforts and that card can be pulled throughout the day (or weekend if its a Friday). Note that this does not replace your base gold card.
Hey hopefully youll still read this. Im having trouble when opponent is overwhelming with immense pressure...hard forecheck but more importantly insane 1 on 1 and often 2,3 on my 1. Im a good passer so with many can just pass it and it gives me the advantage. BUT, I find myself in games where im getting extreme pressure and all my passing lanes are shut down. My go to is to stay in my zone with defenders and kinda be patient for an opportunity, but then what happens is my d goes somewhere crazy right before i pass and everything just starts falling apart. All my passes then start failing and giving him crazy open drives etc. I just cant figure out what is going on in these games. Sry for writing so much, any help is appreciated
Easier than you think. Real people want to score goals and often pull players out of position. They might even try to double team you. If so, toss the puck to an open area near an open teammate so you can have room to move. Cheers!
Simple. GET GUD. I play on a 50 Inch but 4k. So i assume it still has lag lol my controller is slightly broken with the R2 button loose but I still win 8 out every 10 games on average Me and my buddy have a 1 loss rule. If you we lose 1 game we shut the console off lol deffs gona be buying a controller soon tho cuz its pissing me off. think my L1 button is messed up to cuz my guys will do random dekes sometimes
boydsterr that’s not what I mean, I have a decent team it’s I just don’t know when to spend my coins or who to spend them on. last week I bought an 86 mackinnon for 96 k and now he’s only 55 k. I also don’t know if I want to save up for a really good card or buy a bunch of decent cards
@@jabouu that is up to personal preference how you like to build it. The better players will have a relatively larger impact game-to-game. You should buy players on Friday's because that is when everyone gets their squad battles and comp seasons packs. Everyone will be reducing prices to sell their players first. Personally I dont spend coins at all on players. I just buy silvers for cheap for sets and turn in the rewards from squad battles and comp seasons for icon collectibles I put in sets unless they sell for more than 1k. So far doing that I've got Giroux, burke, p. Kane, scheifele, Kurri, larionov, and henri richard. Hope this helps and good luck.
How about an very old school player from intellivision hockey Nintendo hockey blades of steal and then NHL '94. Should I get out of broadcast mode. Lmao yeah I know. My kids and friends scream and laugh at me.
Claims there's no such thing as glitch goals, proceeds to only go for glitch goals.. Typical. Also it must be nice to be able to spam stick checks with no repercussions.
When did I go for a glitch goal? You either stopped the video the sentence i mentioned glitch goal or you just didnt hear what I said about it. The only glitch goal in the games are ones from ridiculous angles that shouldnt have as high of a chance to go in, like the glitch wrap. Everything else is considered a high percentage shot, if its you and the goalie in front of the net..thats you being in a dangerous spot to score. You know they made it so that in these past two years people cant spam poke check anymore? You know how I get away with it? By choosing when to poke check so that it doesnt go for anyones skates. Hell you can spam poke check in the middle of the ice and as long as there are no skates around you arent going to trip anyone. The defensive skill stick also adds another layer to it, and thats my primary defensive tool because i can actually choose where to poke so i dont go for any skates.
So first the only two goals you scored were the same concept as the wrap, don't believe me then watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bs8A1oxQw5I.html Start it at 3:57. Second, you do realize stick check refers to more than just poke checks right? At least I'd hope so having played since 12. If I really wanted to waste more time on this I would count every time your stick made contact with his skates and he didn't go down. Or how you tried chopping the puck through his skates and not to mention stick lifting his face with no calls. Must be an xbox thing cause that stuff doesn't fly on ps4. Anyway, I've wasted enough time on this, I've said what needed to be said and now I'm going to bed.
Its a wrap around, not the wrap glitch. Those are two different things. The goalie can still save that shot, as he has done to me many times. Its a high percentage shot. Imagine being in that situation, you are right in front of the goalie and all of that open space to his side. How is he going to cover all of that open space? As for the stick checks, skill stick, and stick whacks, you do realize you cant trip someone without the puck right? Im sorry if that is something that happens in the real world, thats not something I can control. Im not saying im perfect in defending, sometimes Ill do things like stick lift at inappropriate times but I get away with it because it didnt hit his face. There have been countless times where I didnt get away with it. What can you do about it?
I’m not a high level player but I’m not a low level, I’m more in the middle but a problem I have is I will get destroyed one game then the next I’ll beat the next person 7-2. So how can I be more consistent?
Look at how you played in the winning games and try and stick to what you did in that game. Also make sure you're not getting tired as you play.. i seem to start off on a winning streak but if i start getting tired i play a little more sloppy for sure
Any idea how to counter people entering the zone skating backwards? You can't poke because penalty and hits don't really bump them off the puck anymore also if they turn forward, you miss.
NoSleeves brought this up last year when the L2 was a real pain in the ass. Best way for me atleast is to keep a distance so they can't spin around you and get between you and your goal (trying to hit and them just bumping around). All of this meanwhile trying to direct them against the boards. They finally need to turn around, or pass.
Thanks! I just learned it and won on superstar for the first time then the next day couldn't win again! So it figures as soon as I got it down it was patched
I'm curious what your honest opinion of this years game is? I feel like it's the same inexplicable inconsistent gameplay that we've had for years, with a few added animations. I could go on about all the problems that I feel make a games outcome not so much skill based as it should be for a competitive game(goalie being in butterfly in perfect position, guy shoots it 5-hole and he inexplicably lifts his leg at the exact moment the puck gets to his pad)
Why I don’t understand is, how fucking quick your players turn and move. I have all 88+ Skating on my team and they can never turn on a dime. Your players are twisting and turning on an instant.
Want to know how to win more games quickly? Spend a ton of money on EA products and in game purchases and the game will adjust in your favor. Boom saved you 20 min.
I play 3s seasons on world of chel with one of my friends, and almost everytime our defenseman cpu is faced with a defensive 2v1, he’ll do this weird step up animation midway in the d zone where he stops back skating for a second, and the opponents get a free pass across in front of the goalie and a free tap in. Weve tried changing all the cpus settings and nothing seems to help. Obviously we could just play defensive all the time and not let up any 2v1s on our cpu, but then we would lose out on a lot of scoring opportunities. If anyone experiences this same cpu glitch/animation bug and knows how to fix it, please let me know
