How to bead a bezel for a faceted stone that looks like a real gem setting.

I've seen other videos which beaded bezels on stones, but they reduce the area of the stone, so I created a new way to do it without covering much of the stone. The result looks as if it's actually been set in a real diamond setting! The link is for the Toho store in NYC where I bought the montees.

I apologize if I sounded too harsh. Your designs are beautiful. It is my experience to bezel a stone with an even number of seed beads, thus eliminating the step-up .

This is a great technique for me, I love the way it doesn't take up too much of the surface of the stone. When using other techniques you tend to be covering the faceting and just seeing the table, so many thanks for this video.

I like your version of ladder stitch. The other one I was shown adds the beads two at a time using a brick stitch ladder method which gives you your first row of Peyote stitch because it staggers the bead ends. But your method does wonderfully to quickly cinch in the rows so you get firm hold without an endless amount of rows of declining numbers.

Wow!!!! Very nice and simple way to bezel. I've been trying to teach myself for sometime now, and your unique way is just what I've been looking for. Thank you Mr. Gates!!! Happy Beading!!!

Thank you for this I watched three of your peyote videos and technique is without question. It is inspiring to see a guy doing great bead work. Usually I'm the only one I see around. I have made any bead videos because I'm fairly new at it. Thank you doing it well and showing the rest of us.

I'm sorry for not being around much, work and school has been a bear lately. Anyways, the montees I've used are about 4mm. They are not the cheap crystal ones from on ebay, they are actually quite expensive from a shop in New York City, they were nearly $65 for maybe 60 of them, they are faceted cz's which are cage set.

I have posted a link in my video description according to the rules of youtube. I hope this works, this is where I got my montees, either the price has gone down, or they're not as expensive as I thought, probably the later.

the montees have a cage, nearly exactly like an actual set diamond. you string them on the just any other bead, you just make sure that the diamond part is facing outwards.

Hi Neil. I love the way you bezel a gemstone. I did read all of the comments. Many questions about the size of the montees. In one answer you mentioned 2 mm, another answer 4 mm and yet another 3 mm. What is the right answer? And please can you mention the size of the stone and the seadbeads? Thank you so much. Greetings from the Netherlands.

I'm sorry, I never saw this message. The montees are sold by the mm, I believe these were something like 2 or 4, maybe? They are set in a cage type setting, much like a real diamond would be. There is space underneath to work your needle and thread through.

Oh! sweet success. I have to do another on because it is a little too big. However ,I used Swarovski roundels between every 2nd set of peyotes and 15/0 seedbeds in the other spaces. I'm not sure it I'm using the right names, but it is going to be beautiful!!!

I LOVED this video! Experienced beaders won't miss a beat with it. Thanks soooo much. I only have a few questions regarding your stone: What kind of cab are you using (what's it called?), what size is it? And where do you get them? Thanks so much .. I can't wait to order my materials so I can get STARTED!! I don't even't think that it would matter how thick a cabochon is .. just make the ladder wider to custom fit it! : )

It would be helpful if you list the size of the seed beads, montees and gemstone you are using. You are doing a great disservice to beaders without experience. These instructions are very vague. How can you consider yourself a teacher without specifics?
