Love this Ryan. The other point that I want to add to what you said in your video is that when players are about to go in behind the net, encourage players to cut really close to the net. This can prevent defending player to stay with you, cut in front of you or check you off the puck. The net can act like a wall and this can help the puck carrier have more time and space for themselves to do a wraparound, hang on to the puck waiting for a defending player to get out of position opening the passing lane to a teammate, or make the pass right away to a teammate that is open in the middle of the ice in front of the net.

_HI Russ! I might have to make a video on this. You are really wanting to fire off 2 things, your quads and calf, but landing inside edge of about the first 2 inches of steel in your quick starts. This kind of mechanics engages the rubber band snapping effect and the rebound you want off the ice. Hope this makes sense and helps!_ Remember lading too much steel and flat blades give you no rebound snap effect.

Thank you this did help with me having speed but what if they’re high and then slow down around the high mid circles while your still at the bottom of the circles do you punch turn or wheels up there and pass across to a winger or maybe center

Nolan you might have to send me an email at ryan@duprawpowerskating.com so we can jump on a call sometime. Not sure I fully understand your question or about the gap you have with the defender and wether they are sitting or attacking you with pressure on the puck?

Great vid and insight. Quick question, outside of this technique just in general, when entering the zone on a D man, is it better to approach his front side or weak side. Ie if the d man is a righty, would I be better if going left (his right) and attacking the stick given that he has less length that way, or go the opposite side of his handediness? Thanks.

Strong not front

Great question...and of course everything in hockey is quick reads and depends on situations such as where is the other d partner...how tight is the gap and spacing they are playing..all depends....you are correct thinking strongest their forehand and hook, but it really depends on how they are attacking you...and creating space.

Where should one do this move? Blue line. Top of the circle? Anywhere?
@DuPrawPowerskating
@DuPrawPowerskating Год назад
So I know this isn't exactly the specifics that you want, but then again the variables always change in hockey.... depending on your speed.... defensive gap..angle..aggressiveness of attack....if you have game film it would be easier to breakdown... but hypothetically yes let's say gain the blue line 1st and drive in..... then it also depends on how aggressive the defenseman is playing you... their angle..gap...skating ability. Thanks for watching and hope some of this made sense for ya!😀

I kept getting absolutely destroyed by the older guys cuz I play a few years up, and as a short guy I can’t beat these 6 foot defensemen

We gotta find a.move that they are weak at and you ate good at that will expose them to give you a little more breathing room to operate in their zone. Do they shut you down in the neutral zone or where?
