John, the way you teach and present makes me think there is a whole philosophy, thought model, code of living and thinking behind this discipline. It really is like chess playing more mental than physical but of course, the body has to play along. What I find is that with a larger body also comes greater strength. I am quite sturdy but my karate teacher is probably 8 inches taller than me with very long legs, there is just no way I can match the amount of power he can generate, most notably with the legs but this goes for other attacks too. The kinetic chain is simply larger.
@@alexanderkappelhoff2819 sometimes but not always, however the same thing still applies, try to close distance so those long range techniques are shut down.
As a lil boy i was always afraid of tall 12/13 year old boys. Now i'm 30 years old and i'm training Shotokan Karate i'm 1.65 cm long. This video would help if i get into fight on the streets with taller guys
Good video. I’m familiar with all three entries. Well demonstrated and well explained, but if I may offer one constructive criticism in terms of video presentation, you demo’d this with someone who appears to be about your same height. In a few frames you actually look taller. I think the video would have been more effective if you demonstrated it with a noticeably taller opponent. Most people I spar are 3-8 inches taller, and I imagine many women watchers are in the same boat. Maybe you can do a part two using an uke with a marked, noticeable height / reach advantage since 1-2 inches is a wash.
The thing is my opponents are always taller than me and always i mean always throw incredibly fast mawashi geri and ura mawashi geri getting an ippon. I want to know how to block that would be great if u did a video on that
Is there a difference between a Kage-zuki and a Mawashi-zuki. I am not sure if they are the same move and I still haven’t learned it so a tutorial would be very helpful 👍🙏 (Thanks for this Great Tutorial)
Well, it is aniut keeping the distance, but doing things like front kicks and low kicks at a distance, and showering them with jabs helps in that, im a short fighter so idk, but thats what i see tall fighters doing a lot
