How to Beat Ninja Squid in Splatoon 3 

For me this is definitely true! Now seeing how many people run this ability in comparison to Splatoon 1 and 2 is crazy!

I kill ‘em with explosher. That thing is a ninja squid killer. You only the ground they’re on and do damage. I usually use eliter but man aim is tough. Explosher does wacky damage and inks an insane amount of ground.

That’s true but that’s not the only way to take on long range weapons. So it’s not easy for long range weapons to take the middle, they can support their team’s push, you can avoid their shots by putting yourself up against the wall they’re hiding on top of, you can throw a lethal sub weapon like a splat bomb, suction bomb, or autobomb, and push if it lands where they’re shootings at you from. Tenta missiles, booyah bombs, tri strike, and tri zookas can all do well against long range. Also slippery movement is good, don’t swim in a straight line while fighting chargers. Dodge rolls, squidrolls, and diagonal movement towards them is the way to go.

Definitely true. I hear that at super competitive levels, players can notice the moving trail as easily as the swimming splashes, and yeah it has happened with me that I see the trail approach me with no splashes. It's harder to notice, but it is there to be noticed...

@@slyllamademon2652 While you are not wrong there, a good chunk of maps don't have that good of cover to hide behind. Backline weapons are pretty good currently, so having ninja squid as a soft counter does help out at the moment

I actually main blaster - I think blaster can really utilize hitting around corners to test areas for enemies. Just listening for damage sounds tells you where ninja squids are. Though you do have to play careful and use the map terrain wisely.

Mess around with your tv settings then, it might help.

@@StarmenRock Yeah I have the OLED so I just play handheld exclusively and I can see a good amount better. It’s still no doubt worse than 2 by a landslide

@@deliwtz holy shit, youre a trooper. I couldnt imagine playing it on handheld mode with the joycons and the wonky handheld gyro. To me increasing the contrast and lowering brightness on my ips lg tv made things MUCH better, feels like the difference of how light gets reflected by the ink is 100x better than before, which makes my colorblind ass see it much better on color lock mode.

@@StarmenRock being colorblind sounds like a whole different realm of challenge to deal with when playing a game like this where there are colors everywhere and people hiding in said colors lmao so props to you

@@deliwtz It's actually really cool, most of the color combinations are pretty ok to see since it's always a variation of redish tones vs blueish-greenish tones. Color lock is kinda ok a month after, but the tv settings are what did it for me. When you drop the brightness down considerably and boost the contrast, gamma and turn on wide color range things get a whole lot better in general for splatoon 3. I can actually see ninja squid trails and everything if i focus enough on it as of today

There were a fair amount of people using ninja squid in 2. Though that's mostly in soloq, I don't think it's used often in tournaments from memory.

No actually! bc heavy weapons start out slower, -10% speed actually affects them less. NS is almost free on heavy weapons, but it's also less useful because they fight at long range.

I really like this new dynamic- as someone who has always used ninja squid since splat 1. I actually find it harder to be sneaky in 3, because people are so much more on edge about my gear than in the first two games where they wouldn’t see me coming. It really forced me to come up with even more strategies to counter the players trying to counter me.
