I like to imagine that if you had a long timer, and since you can't die before your timer runs out, that you can do all kinds of crazy death defying stuff all while the demon begrudgingly saves you to keep the curse going.

I want to point out the sheer hilarity of there being reviews for this app. The only way there'd be legitimate reviews would be people who saw their friends use it and die or someone used it before they died.

Moral of the story: If you EVER see a DISEASED family member… NEVER let them influence your actions and decisions.

60GB of hard drive space? Well, I already know what would've saved me from this. My phone would've gone up in flames if I even thought about downloading the app.

The fact the app has 3.6 stars. That's better than Facebook. 💀

I honestly couldn’t consider the demon the villain in this story. Simple deal: You are told when you are supposed to die and may not use this information to alter your own fate. If you try the demon shows up and corrects it. We see that the demon usually has to kill those who cheat death but also (tries to) save those who’d die before their time. You were supposed to die anyways and now you can do crazy stuff knowing your personal guardian -angel- demon is begrudgingly doing it’s best to make sure you live until the moment you *are* supposed to slip in the shower!

Father John literally came in so clutch and they still somehow did everything wrong and wasted it. At that point they deserve whatever happens after.

Considering that the app was apparently created by a demon, and since demons typically seek out human souls, I think I can picture how this would work out in a court of afterlife law. •If a person dies like they are destined to, then everything goes normally. •If a person uses the app to try and evade death, the demon is fully allowed to kill them but has to do it at the time they are supposed to die. •By creating the app, its able to tell people when they're destined to die, and just about any reasonable person would try and evade that, sending them into the demon's clutches. Then again, I'm sure this would be considered entrapment.

I don't think Quinn dying is what killed the demon. I believe that, while the demon was distracted trying to save her, her sisters timer ran out this ruining the curse.

3:29 I actually did decide one day to read the terms and services at the beginning of a videogame I bought once (Ni No Kuni 2, for those curious). While I was reading it, I set a RU-vidr's livestream of the game on my phone to listen to and kept reporting anytime I found something weird sounding. About an hour into the stream, I informed them I found an entire section detailing the rules for how to use the online features (which didn't exist) and microtransactions (which the game didn't have) for real world gambling. The rules also stated that bannable offenses included using all caps or racial slurs in the game's online chat (again, it had no online features). I forgot about this by the time I was halfway through the game and vaguely remembered it near the end, honestly kind of disappointed there was no gambling (online or otherwise) especially since one of the towns in the game was explicitly themed around shady casinos.

I think the reason the morphine plan worked was because Ozdin believed he had failed, she didn't actually break the curse it just believed she had. or ,perhaps my favorite explanation, It enjoyed the hunt they had led it on so it wanted to prolong it by letting them think they'd won then starting it again.

I like that the film implies that the demon is just an honest working man. People are downloading the app to see when they are gonna die, and all he is doing is telling them. But once they change fate, now he has to step in because he ain't no liar.

An interesting thing is that the app tells you when you die and this often causes people to get nervous and play it safer. They then avoid their death but that sends a demon after them to get the job done. I wonder if the demon would be sent without the app

I personally feel that Courtney getting out of the car shouldn't have counted as a breach of the ToA, considering any sane person would refuse to let somebody drunk as Evan drive them anywhere- but apparently, she's the kind of person that needed to be scared into self-preservation by a vaguely ominous app?

34:40 you can only use an AED if someone is in VFIB, AFIB etc. You need adrenaline and CPR and once you get an unstable Rythm, you can AED them. AND narcan has a much less half- life than all opioids (narcan ~20 - 30 mins), so when someone is ODing to the point where they need CPR, after 30 mins the effects of narcan would wear off while the opioid is still effective, thus them needing another shot or a drip of narcan to keep the effects from the almost lethal dose of opioids down (aka Re- ODing) to the point where breathing / contiousness would most likely would be very much affected.

Honestly this is a really cool idea for a horror movie "villain" like it doesn't kill you unless you break the rules and if you do, you just die when you were already going to. I guess it's unique in the way that most horror movie monsters cut your life short

correction, an AED only stops a fibrillating heart, resets it, so you can then pump to get it going again. that's why it's called a defibrillator. the AED does NOT start the heart again.

If you go back to the story, the prince sacrificed his own brother to save his own life; that’s what the curse is based on is saving your own skin. But because she tried to end her own life, sacrificing HERSELF for someone else, that most likely was the loophole that Ozin couldn’t beat

I don't think simply avoiding the app would have saved anyone as I don't think the app was causing the deaths only predicting them. Without the lifesaving foreknowledge they would have all walked to there deaths.

I really wish Tom Segura had a much bigger part in this film. On the preview for it on Netflix, his scene was what showed. Smart on behalf of the marketing, but he's too damned hilarious to only be in the movie for like 7 minutes.

This absolutely makes me wonder whether the shorter death timers were always destined to happen, and they just wouldn’t have thought to try and avoid it if they hadn’t seen the timer. Or whether they were fates that could’ve been dodged without the app and the app just punishes dodging them.

I think it would've made more sense for the demon to cheat his way around the protection circle by vaulting something lethal at the target from a distance like a knife, pen, ect. They can't leave the circle, and it doesn't provide much room to move. Successfully luring Matt away even though he KNEW the circle was working was terribly dumb.

This movie reminds me of a Japanese horror game (2011) called "Kakusan Kibou." It's also about kids trying to escape death and survive the curse originating from their phone app. The kids receive notifications for their times of deaths too and are visited by the demonic entity, literally like in this movie.

It's so much easier for me to watch these films while someone explains everything and talks about everyone being stupid

Oh, interesting, the app tells totally the truth, if the first girl didn't download the app she wouldn't have been scared to ride the car and thus would've died like that, the app didn't made the car accident happen, it was destiny, it was just how it was supposed to happen, so, thanks to the app you can actually avoid your true cause of death, so, I think the first girl was death, app or not app, so I wonder, you can't die before the countdown? If you do extremely dangerous stuff before that, you just wouldn't die? Or if you die the app demon thing would bring you back to life for breaking the terms and conditions?

Actually since the countdown clock predicted that the doctor had years to live, its possible that they were just destined to die and the spirit was killing them for breaking their user agreement by not dying the way they were supposed to, and that die and revive thing most likely got to do with the 'new life can beat death' thing used in final destination 2 where if you die and is brought back to life you get a free pass on cheating death or something like that. Either way, chances are those characters wouldn't have survived even if they didn't download the app. I would keep this in mind Nerd Explain incase you ever do a video on the Final Destination Movies because you could use it to reference this video

Does it even need to be defeated? Yeah the demon is a dick but it's not really "killing" anyone, it simply shows people how long they have to live and punishes them if they try to avoid their fates. It's depressing but it's clear that the demon is not actually try to shorten their lives considering that a lot of people got 57+ years and even the drunk guy that they trick to read the terms of service still had 37 years to live.

Is it really a Killer app if you would've died regardless of whether you download it or not? If anything this app saved Quinn and Jordan's lives. They rescheduled the trip at which they would've died because of it, and then they managed to beat ozhin, and that effectively prolonged their life.

I’m a Security Officer in a large Nevada casino. I responded to a fentanyl overdose in one of the rooms and the lady was DOA no pulse. I administered a dose of Narcan. Realizing it wasn’t working, I preformed chest compressions and she came back long enough for the paramedics to arrive. You don’t actually need a defibrillator per se, but it should be known that the heart must be stimulated if it’s stopped to allow the narcan to move through the system and take effect.

Wonderful video as always NerdExplains! I look forward to seeing the notification! Also from a survival standpoint, it looks as though Ozhin can only come out in complete darkness. There was not one kill with either lights on or sunlight. So another idea is to get yourself in a hospital with as many lights as possible, or time to zip up your light armor from “Lights Out” and see if that is a deterrent in some way. It may be worth a try and hop in the salt circle while you are at it. The narcan like you mentioned does not work that way. Probably the best chance you have to revive yourself after death is either drowning or elecrocution. It would be incredibly hard to plan out the timing for that. I would get my butt in the hospital and call the nurses line every few seconds on my last minute. That way someone else is in the room when it happens. You have the best chance at survival not being alone and being around the best minds to help you.

Okay im only 13 minutes into the video but I think I understand what the movie is going for. So, my prediction would be that the devil or whatever put this app out there. However, regardless of whether or not you download it, you will still die whenever you were supposed to die. People die in car crashes and in surgery all the time. I think its kinda like Final Destination in a way. However, as opposed to FD where Death is pissed that you didn't die as you were supposed to, Death in this movie is HOPING you don't die as you were supposed to so that you break the User Agreement and Death gets to murder you. That's my prediction / theory of the movie.

I watched this earlier this week with my buddy and thought it was honestly hilarious.

I have to note why Mr. Grimm Reaper likes smacking skulls into various things, but have you every used a weapon like a giant slingshot or a cataplate to launch an uncooked egg onto the ground? Trust me, it's satisfying to do (especially if the egg separates in mid-air to it's parts - that is just amazing to see happen IRL). I'm guessing Mr. Grimm Reaper feels similar about head smacks there. Also, I'm guessing the App draws the line at being brain dead for a simple set of reasons - 1) the Nacan worked, and 2) all those deaths involving accidents have two potential exact CODs. It's an important thing to realize but, sometimes, someone's brain can be killed but the rest of the body can still do basic life functions for about 30 seconds to a couple of minutes afterwards. This is part of how organ donations often keep someone's body alive long enough to take out the organs successfully using medical technology. With this basic idea in mind, literally every accident death was an insta-kill death due to extreme head trauma and/or the brain being damaged by bouncing around the skull (if it crushes in someone's chest via van, I think we can make the assumption that much force could easily do that). This, (in theory), means you could revive someone using certain medications and/or a defibrillator if certain types of ODs occurred. This is because the heart is probably still pumping blood around the body before it catches on to the fact the brain is dead and has no other power source.
