I 100% would've taken the money and been out after eating the bug. Not because eating a dead bug for $3k is that hard, but if the difference between step 1 and step 2 was "kill a bug" and then "devour the dead bug" I would hate to see what step 13 is.

Surely the better strategy to make the little girl cry would have been to just trip her up so she falls over. You could easily play that off as an accident by helping her up and comforting her, apologising and asking where her parents are etc.

that whole kid thing, just literally run and bump into a kid and act like it's an accident. that would not only make you look clumsy, but also lower the risk of a parent punching you in the face.

If he was going to disqualify himself in the end anyway, he should've just quit before he had to kill his brother. Once he'd already had to do all the challenges he may as well just accept the winnings and bide his time. Once it had been long enough that the money was spent, or it wouldn't be obviously connected, then he could've sought revenge.

That ending pissed me off all of that just to give up the money 💀

Shooting the cop in the end was the dumbest thing and such a bad ending. After going through all that, making the money to set up your family for life, and facing no repercussions, why on earth would anyone throw it all away to shoot someone who had no real role in the game? They lived up to their end of the deal and the loss of the father and brother wasn’t really that bad considering the father’s admission and that the brother was actively trying to kill him. He probably made around $3 million all together which is enough that he and his wife can live an amazing life and provide everything for their children. And honestly, what did he really have to do for that money? Sure, it was stressful, scary, and possibly traumatic, but the only people he actually hurt were the bully, who was a willing participant, the bully’s brother, which he did voluntarily, and his brother, who would have killed him had he not done it. Other than those three people, he didn’t hurt anyone, ruin anyone’s life, or do anything truly awful. At the end, having the ability to live a great life with you wife and children is worth everything that he did…so why throw it away for no reason? Why even seek revenge when you chose to play and got everything that was promised? He should have just gone home, told his wife he won some lottery or had a huge night at a casino, moved away, and enjoyed the rest of his life. The beginning kind if implies he has the option to get out of the game. But really he probably would become a target in the next game to tie up loose ends.

The challenge with the kid could be solved waaaay easier. He could have gone in the direction of the girl, spills a drink over her and starting to appologize instantly and make it look like an accident. I am pretty sure a small child starts to cry and the parents will be pissed, but they wont attack you.

This is where a lot of people end up losing not only sympathy points, but they’re lives and any justification for doing anything that they’re gonna do that’s fucked up. You have $4600, and you didn’t have that before. You have a job, so you know you can earn income. You have $4600 that you did not have the day before so even when you pay off your girls credit cards you can now have that credit available to use to buy things that you need, and another thousand dollars to keep yourself a float for a while. But once you start getting greedy and going for millions, you should know that shit is going to get even more fucked up than you could even imagine. And the money you get won’t even be fucking worth it because your life’s gonna be absolute turmoil.

The 3rd challenge would be the dip time because it shows both how much more money will be paid and the severity of the challenges. You could even say the first two were reason enough not to continue because they involved minor versions of terrible things, killing on command and hurting yourself on command.

I loved all the cultural references, they have given a complete different perception of what was happening in the movie

for making the kid upset in the third challenge i would suggest him to 'accidently' make a kid fall and say sorry to the parents

The movie has one big plot hole. How is it even possible to remove the money from his bank account if already transferred.

The most disturbing thing to me would be that they are able to see everything Elliott does no matter where he is. No reasonable human beeing would be taking part in this.

I'd quit after the first 2 because any game that says you have to complete all 11 tasks or lose everything means they would have 5-6 super easy tasks 2-3 hard 1 really hard and 1 task that you would never do.

The “make a child cry“ challenge could be done super easy without getting in trouble. The girl was just skipping around, he could just trip her so she falls, and then be super apologetic and say he was distracted.

Even if I'm not suspicious of any devil contract I would get off the challenge after eating the fly because it shows they gave no concern for my well being, since flies can carry diseases, it makes me expect that the challenges will be progressively bad for me and I will eventually get hurt.

Bump into a kid and knock them down (not like a hockey body check, just enough to knock them down) then apologize like it was an accident. Kids are small and close to the ground and don't get hurt from a small fall into the grass. Kids often cry when they fall and their parents are around. The apology gets you out of there with no consequences. That was the first thought that came to mind. I'm blown away it wasn't considered.

Reminds me of The King's Game. Nobody knows who thr king is, but for every task followed the whole class receives confirmation. The difference between this movie and The King's Game is one is in Japan and this in the western world. The King's Game isn't played for money and it's all highschool students, but the challenges get more and more deadly with consequences of being completely erased from history and other people's minds except the students themselves.

For the 3rd challange you can get a ball and kick it to the kids, that wouldnt injure them, but young ones would cry, while make it an accident.
