From what I've read, Richie and Eddie weren't ever gay in the book. It was all something they added in the films, although Stephen King said he personally didn't mind the change.

I just love the interview where Eddie goes 'oh once the director said 'ACTION' Bill got immediately into character and started to drool all over me, it was awesome!' But then after 'CUT' Bill would go up to Eddie and just start apologizing but Eddie's actor was just like 'no that was awesome, keep doing that!' Love that the kids and adults in these 2 movies acted so goddamn good.

I just want to say, not only are these two movies good horror movies, but they’re amazing movies in general especially with the aspect of friendship. It chapter one is one of my favorites and though it chapter two didn’t quite live up to chapter one, it was still a great movie.

As a gay man, the opening scene when the couple is beaten up really haunts me. My boyfriend and I were beaten up bloody one night when a group of homophobic guys saw us holding hands outside the mall. We kept to ourselves and didn’t bother a soul. I have this theory about Stanley. I think the reason why he was able to truly remember while getting the phone call from Mike while the others had to come back to gain the memories is because he was the only one who truly never accepted what happened to them. Sometimes when you try to repress a memory, it can be easily triggered by something as simple as a phone call. By him trying to deny that Pennywise exists, he gave It a lot of power over him mentally because he didn’t try and process the fear, he just tried to repress it. Again, this is just a theory.

Thinking about the small bit of dialogue from Pennywise that was cut in the first movie directed at Richie implying he was gay. It would have made the internalized guilt Richie showed this movie a lot more clear and would have added a bit of context to Pennywise talking about Richie's "dirty little secret." Plus I'm sorry y'all, Richie re-carving R+E into the fence and smiling to himself?? Oh my guy was deeply in love with Eddie, can't tell me otherwise.

Not enough people talk about fact that Richie is gay! In the book it's beyond implied about Richie having a crush on Eddie(he calls Eddie cute and pinches his cheek often and he also kisses eddies cheek after he dies in the book) and I wish they'd show that more in the movie other then the "R+E"

I usually hate humor breaking up serious moments (looking at you MCU), but for some reason it just worked for me in this movie. Maybe it was the fact that the scenes were pretty hilarious which made it worth it. When Bill Hader looks up and sees the spider stanley head right above him and just casually goes "oh there he is!" As someone who has hated horror for about 25 years of my 29 year life due to panic attack-inducing traumatophobia (fear of injury, gore, etc), I actually love how comedic this movie is. It was a great test of my years of exposure therapy, and being able to laugh during a scary scene is a juxtaposition I think is fantastic. I hate vomit, especially vomit going into another person's mouth, so having a song play during Eddie's token scene made me burst out laughing so hard we had to pause the movie while I tried to catch my breath. Rather than being disgusted, that incredibly out-of-left-field directing choice made the scene not only something I could watch without freaking out, but even go back to watch again.

I’m late to the party, but Richie’s “secret” is that he’s a closeted homosexual. It’s hinted at in the scene where Henry is telling him to leave the arcade. Then at the end of the IT: Chapter 2, it’s again hinted at when he recarves the R + E into the bridge..

That clip about Barbara Muschietti and those two girls talking about casting Jessica Chastain is great for a number of reasons. Those two girls, Megan Charpentier and Isabelle Nelisse, who play two bullies in Chapter One, actually played the two girls that Chastain’s character adopts in the movie “Mama”, also directed by the Muschietti’s, meaning all five of them are probably friends!

I'm sad that Richie couldn't get a happy ending. Seeing him re-carving their initials and the sad, regretful yet still happy smile he gives it broke me! I understand that it would've been better if Richie's 'secret' (as if everyone doesn't already know) was more set up in the first movie. But, as a queer person myself, I was certainly confused when I was 12. But, I didn't grow up in the 80s, so I'm sure it would've been even more confusing for Richie. Bill Hader's performance is heartbreaking in this movie and I definitely relate to him (and Eddie) a lot in both of these movies.

I have to admit - I was looking back on your videos from when the channel started, and while the production has always been really good you've really come into your own now and it shows.
