a way to get rid of the stomach drop feeling that REALLY helps is to hold your breath, push your feet up against the front seat as hard as you can, and close your eyes if you want. i tried this on a big drop and i had no stomach drop feeling
I heard the feeling kinda goes away after the first big stomach drop sensation. I don’t know where you went but I went to six flags great adventure and when I did nitro early in the day the sensation was so over the top, but later in the day when I rode el toro I didn’t really feel it going down the first drop
@@tomasalessi8470 I went to six flags discovery kingdom and the first ride i went on was wonder woman. if you dont know what it is, you should look it up. i am traumatized lol but the feeling didnt go away for me all day
@@Ivypool-drawsthat makes it worse 😂 the best thing you can do is completely relax your body & literally go w the flow. Basically if it’s a drop tower kinda ride let yourself be lifted a little from your seat. The more tense you are, the more you feel it. That’s why screaming can also help w the feeling. It helps you release tension
Guys just ride the rides. You only live once. I’m rlly afraid of rollercoasters but I’m going on Smilernsoon and I’m dead excited. If you get scared in the queue just think to yourself ‘you’re gonna get through this’ bc u are. The biggest thing you will regret is not going on rides. Step outside your comfort zone sometimes. If this is hard just pretend everyday is your last day on earth. That way you will know you should do everything you can. Hope this helps 🩷
I was intimidated by the smiler the first time but seeing a bunch of kids come off and run straight back on made me just say well fuck it if they enjoyed it that much im going on
@@gamingandcraftswithlogan8714 yes I’ve been on it twice. It’s actually amazing it’s not even that scary. It’s deffo one of my favs probably my fav atm it’s like a 12/10 for me
I feel like being afraid of roller coasters is when you’re gonna enjoy them most. The best feeling when facing a monster of a ride is at the very end when it’s over and you realize you’ve won against yourself and your own fears. I remember being deathly afraid of roller coasters, but working my way up little by little, challenging my own vision of myself and what I could handle and ending the visit on one of the most intense rides in the park? I was still scared, but I felt triumphant walking out of that station (despite the wobbly legs and shaky breath). I kinda miss that feeling sometimes.
Look guys. Last year I was deathly afraid but now I will go on any. My top tip is to go with a friend and as soon as you get into the queue, DISTRACT YOURSELF! And try to go on a day where you will get a walk-on or a 5 min wait!
Yeah, I finally decided to give big rides a go and went to Thorpe Park with some mates (was free because of a friend who works at a Merlin park)! Tried all the roller-coasters with lots of encouragement from friends and found I really loved them! Slowly working thriugh different theme parks and I've loved them all so far!
@@silentsnarlomg can you help me. I’m having a lot of trouble getting over my fear at that park and would appreciate some tips that are specific to that park.
THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!! I FOUND HOW TO STOP THE STOMACH DROP FEELING. Breathe, just breathe. Sounds weird but I tried it on a 300ft coaster. Rose once without breathing on the drop and felt the feeling. Did it again while breathing which will feel weird at first but I didn't feel it AT ALL.
When I was a kid I was terrified of roller coasters. Hated them. My family took an annual trip to Michigan’s Adventure every year and I always hated going. But when I was about 8 or so, my grandpa said “the trick is to stick your hands up. It sounds scary but that’s what makes it fun.” So I tried it, and it made me love roller coaster. My grandpa gaslit me into loving roller coasters and I’ll forever be grateful for that.
The way i got over my fear, was going on the big one for the first time. As soon as I went on that, I didn't feel the feeling anymore, just thrill and excitement!
I would start on 13, then wickerman.i wouldn't recommend Rita first...it's rough!!and waiting for a launch can be nerve-wracking even when you know what's coming
Hi There, a great Video, I personally think the gradual process of going on Rollercoasters is a good option as well as the straight track method, where you don't focus on the layout and think of it as a straight track. I would also recommend breathing naturally and breathing out with regards to the stomach drop feeling. Cheers Peter 🙂
When something does go wrong on a roller coaster majority of the time its just getting stuck on the lift hills its very rarely something that causes an injury or issue But media does focus on that small percentage that does But one thing you can be assured of is if a rollercoaster does have an accident then those will become the safest rides in the park post incident
I used to be scared of roller coaster too but then my cousin took me on Vortex at Canada’s Wonderland and I loved it, a few visits later she took me on behemoth and leviathan and now I love rides like that, well all rides really
Its not always the stomach drop feeling for me, its just the height in some roller coasters because they’re so high. Especially in free fall towers But im gonna overcome my fear of free fall next week!
Spinball whizzer was rhe scariest one for me. I always felt like i was going to get thrown out and the G's i felt kept me going in a circle in the seat 😂
Another tip from someone who was scared (and is stil kinda scared) of roller coasters: just scream it out. You would be surpised at how fast a scream of fear turns into a scream of joy
I went to alton Towers for the first time recently with my friends, not knowing if I was going to go on many of the roller coasters. As a person who has never been on a roller coaster with more than one inversion, I was unsure if I could bring myself to go on the more extreme rides. My friends let me work my way up, and one thing they said that helped me go on many of the coasters was by them saying things like "if you go on and don't like it you never have to do it again" as well as "you may regret not doing it because it will be along time until you get this chance again". Throughout the whole day, I actually went on ALL the coasters, including smiler (which was a bit too much for me 😅) I am proud I did it to say that I went on all coasters when i visited alton towers for the first time. Surprisingly, oblivion ended up being my favourite ride! Good luck if you are trying new rides- they might end up being your favourite! 😍
I was petrified of rollercoasters like when I was a kid I couldn’t even go in little ones like loads of cars that would go round the track not even fast. I hated them but it was only yesterday that I was like you know what I’m going to go on all this scary rides I don’t care. I’m going to face my fear so I started off with some easy just rollercoaster type ones gradually worked my way up and I am here to say that no matter how scared you are face your fear because now I am literally obsessed with rollercoasters and I can’t wait to go back and try even more scary ones
I was horrified of the tallest ones and the ones with inversions, but after a few rides at Universal Orlando, namely Velocicoaster, I have gotten over it. Velocicoaster is now one of my favorites, because it is ridiculously smooth and amazing
@@Gaming_Atlas that’s awesome!! I haven’t ever been to the USA which makes me sad. But maybe one day a miracle could happen. I mean I don’t live far from Alton Towers but nah the rides are big and terrifying, I’d be wasting my money lol
@@samuelharrison7068go with a coaster kid. I’ve been going to theme parks since infancy so I’ve never been scared but while my mum loves them she always gets scared waiting in the queue. But no adult can watch a tiny child bouncing onto a rollercoaster with no fear and not follow suit. And if you somehow can, their jeering will break you lol
I crave that stomach drop feeling, I love hyperia to death for it. It feels so abnormal because it isn’t a feeling you feel regularly when you’re just watching tv or something, but it’s so amazing.
I love going in roller coasters, expect the tower ones where you drop down or the big swinging hammers. All because I’m literally just scared to get the tingly feeling.
Definitely less scary going with someone you care about who is just cool as ice makes you freak out less. Also helps to do a warm up ride my favorite is backlot stunt coaster just shoots you off so there is very little time to be nervous. The stomach drop feeling does go become less and less everytime you go to ride rollercoasters. I still have it bit it is much less.
Distracting yourself from the anticipation will make everything feel a lot less scary. I nearly ended up shitting my pants in the hour long wait for a small coaster, but wasn't scared at all when I could walk onto a big one without thinking.
fun fact about the ride of the smiler (showed in the first clip of the vid) it was a ride that had issues before and sometime after the issue they added a 5th train on the ride, and they accidently put a train onto a running ride that had no people on the train tho. they didnt know they started the first train so they added another train on the ride while the first train was still going and was stopped at some point on the ride, the 2nd train was going with some passengers and when they were going up the ride it stopped and they thought there was a train while it was going and they didnt see it so they turned the ride back on after the ride was going the 1st train was stopped and the 2nd train ran straight into it. 2 people lost there legs because of this
I used to be terrified of coasters until I went on a school trip to alton towers with my mates and my first roller coaster in my life was nemesis and second was the smiler. Safe to say I have overcome that fear and now want to go on more!
i was literally terrified of them, my first coaster was RMT, then i got forced onto wicker man. after riding that 3/4 times and learning to love it i eventually went to galactica and then to nemesis reborn. i’m not scared of coasters at all now and my next trip to towers will consist of all of the big 7!! a massive achievement considering how i felt about them a few years ago 😂
Biggest thing to remember is these rides run thousands upon thousands of times with out incident. I have finally got over the fear of the rides but my fear of heights makes me still terrified lol.
as someone whos deadly afraid of big roller coasters but can handle smaller ones, just control your breathing and exhale on the drop, it helps a lot and so does screaming
Got over my fear of rollercoasters during a tour with my friends, i didnt sleep before we left and we went to portaventura, Cause i was so sleepy i didnt think twice about going on the shambhala and ended up going on it.
I was afraid of the stomach drop feeling too but I learned if you don’t tense up and just shout it’s not that bad plus it’s only a half second feeling then the ride is fun ash.
Just 2 days ago i concurred my fear, at magic six flags mountain CA, i started on revolution, then goldrush, ninja, west coast, batman, scream, and finished with tatsu and i cant wait to go back to do stuff like goliath and wonder woman, twisted collosus too. I also did jest stream but wasn’t very notable. It was pretty empty so i got to go on a few of the rides twice, i did ninja, tatsu, and scream twice because they offered.
Funnily enough i absolutely love roller coasters, but i have always had a hatred for air pressure. The speed and the inverts dont bother me in the slightest, but the feeling of strong air preasure on my face really gets to me
btw something i did to get myself loving coasters is starting off in small coasters of different part like do a small launch coaster then a small loop coaster up and up keep going til u think u can and if ever get scared in the que think about the walk of shame if u dont go on it
I honestly just did it ignoring my fear ( i was afraid of coasters that went upside down and really high ) i could handle normal coasters but upside was too much for me but i just did it and now i think its fun
Fun fact: That first coaster he showed “the smiler” once broke down and crashed with another cart that got stuck during the test run and 2 girls from the front row were amputated because they hid the stuck cart too hatd
Starting on smaller coaster is a really baaaaaad advice imho... Especially if you are scared of heights... It would make you experience the bad sides of coasters without enough adrenaline to compensate it. Obviously don't choose an hardcore thing that can traumatise you as first one like kingda ka, the smiler or 4x but still a good adrenaline adult coaster and not a family one...
i have a question… if you’ve gone on ride with the stomach dropping feeling and you hate it, is it possible to just grow accustomed to it? cause other than that feeling i really love rollercoasters.
Back when I first started on rollercoaster I was told some thing that sticks with me to this day. If ur a first timer to rollercoasters try this forgot that nonsense u only need one word that's excited before u join the que tell ur self or even speak it it out loud the phrase I am excited I am.excited I am excited to ride this ride I have been excited to ride it. Ok sounds stupid but by saying ur excited it tricks the brain in to thinking this is a good thing. Trust me it works for every thing in life
You're afraid of Rollercoasters because you aren't courageous enough to ride them. I'm afraid of Rollercoasters because I have absolutely god awful vertigo. We're not the same.
I know that telling people the odds of getting hurt on a roller coaster does not help, but again, you are more likely to trip on the sidewalk and DIE than get hurt on a roller coaster
Two years ago I was in disneyland (afraid of every rollercoaster with a looping) with my family. We came past the Indiana Jones coaster which has a looping, which I didn't know. For the rest it looked really amazing so my dad told me that we HAD to ride it. So we did. To make it even funnier, when he was a teenager he pulled the same shit with my aunt 😭😭
I used to be terrified but one thing that I did was kind of feel how safe the restraint/ seatbelt is then I would tell myself that this restraint is really tight and I will not fly out
I remember entering alton towers with an absolute phobia of rollercoasters and not wanting to go on the smiler, and leaving right after i had tons of fun on galactica, oblivion and smiler😂😂
I am scared of the heights and safety but I just went to the dark forest in alton towers I went on thirteen and loved it and I really loved the drop, I also went on the octonauts (I was eleven) and my fav ride that made me live heights was the oblivion
My first ever roller coaster is journey to the center of the earth at disneysea Japan and it might not be a starter roller coaster but since then I’ve loved going on roller coaster’s even the scary ones
I overcame my fear because I didn't want to miss out on anything my older brother did so I went on Oblivion with him and now roller coasters are kinda chill for me now
see my friends had the "teaching a baby to swim approach" thundercunt me into the water (the ride) and do the "(snaps fingers) up!! up!!" my first ever rollercoaster was saw and tbh? I was not scared to do hyperia whatsoever afterwards
yeah, I can agree that starting small is good, I'm actually doing it rn tbh and I've already been on a coaster that has a loop in it, but I personally think that you just need to go at your own pace if you like a coaster and have been on it before or seen people do it and think you can then you will be able to do it, but if you see a coaster that your not ready for yet, then thats totally ok and you should feel free to go at your own pace, but to sum this up I have a quote from a movie that fits this perfectly and that is 'if you think you can, then you will, but if you think you can't, then you won't.
@@tom58358 I wouldn't really say that, at least for me anyway, but yeah sometimes if you don't do it you'll regret it so just do it, or go big or go home as you put it.
Something like Rita or Galactica is probably best for starting as they’re smooth and fun, spinball whizzer is crazy and is painful to ride, wouldn’t be a good impression 😂
The first one i went on was oblivion i didnt actually see the rollercoaster itself before getting in the queue and at that time I was scared of all rollercoasters hahah
I wonder if any of the people injured on The Smiler (some of whom lost their legs) had a fear of coasters? Sure, it's had many successful rides since then
Ok. Im actually scared of rollercoasters. I went to universal and the scariest one i went too was hagrid. Which isnt even that intense. If i ever come back. I will try to overcome it and try veloci and hollywood rip ride. (Hopefully cuz my mind tortures me with the negatives.)
If you’re worried about the feeling of your stomach going on the air time elements, just clench your arse cheeks while going over it and that will stop the feeling!
