There are many factors to consider when dealing with fear and developing yourself into a confident horseman and rider.
While there are many pieces to resolving fear, in my experience the bulk of the work has everything to do with developing new and positive paradigms, mindsets and awareness within you - with awareness being the number one key to overcoming fear.
For fear to change into confidence, you also need to develop your horse's foundation and TEST you and your horse often before you assume your horse is safe or told your horse is safe.

When some people say "Spooky" is just the word used for a horse's natural self preservation that they are indeed born with.

Hi Lisa! Yes and no. Wild horses don’t spook. They don’t waste their energy for one and second they live in their parasympathetic nervous system 99% of the time. The only time they use fight or flight is to survive. We normalize domesticated horses behaviors because that’s all we know, it’s our only experience. Meaning most horse owners never get the chance to study wild horses or work with one. This means we create the spook in our horses and that’s how we created the language, mindset and behavior.

Guess one is born that way. I never had the problems some seen to have. I always felt a part of the horse . Perhaps having multiple books on riding & reading the mindset of a horse helped. Then seeking professional help. Been around horses since 5yrs old years. 24/7.

I love your commitment to change the human mindset towards horses. It’s really important though, Mindset is everything. Horses understand our mindset and once we change our mindset everything starts to get better. Your horse reacts differently and is more excited to be with you. Shiloh leaves her food every time she sees me walk towards her. I call with a really energetic positive voice and then halfway to her she starts walking towards me and when we meet she waits for me and completely ignores everything else to be with me it’s so amazing you are the best! Thank you thank you thank you.

Is it " spooking" or reacting. Any horse can be startled. I get startled at things.

That was helpful since after falls on horses I sometimes loose confidence in myself and in riding certain horses

I am enjoying your instruction and philosophy. I know you will judge me but I have one question: Have you ever been behind 200 head of cattle mounted on an Arabian of strong Morafic influence with 5 other riders working along side you?

Hi John and welcome! Thanks so much! No but I have worked 100 head of cows bareback and bitless separating the newborns from the pregnant cows. There were 3 of us too. It was amazing and exhilarating! My horse Smokey took care of me and the babies!

So I love my filly to death, known her since she was 7 months old (and I don't know if it's bs but when others see us chilling and playing they say we're a great duo) we used to ride great too but I've had many blows to my confidence, this year she bucked me off 3 times and I just feel so broken

Where is all of the hay\bedding in her stall? Standing on cement or concrete or whatever it is could be bad for their ankles

Hi Veronica and Welcome! Thank you for sharing your concern. They are not standing on concrete. The stalls have thick mats. My stalls are used as run ins only, meaning my horses come and go and sleep outside. Keeping them bare keeps the bugs away, keeps the horses from urinating in the stalls, which means they don't stand in their urine and thirdly, it's the closest and second best way to keep horses, allowing them to come and go and not be stalled for long periods. Hope that makes you happy!

@Sabrina Arbogast my horse and I were doing so good. We finally “clicked” after 7 months together. In September I was getting on and had my left foot in the stirrup and didn’t open my hip far enough and I kicked him. He took off and I was belly on the saddle and fell 5 1/2 feet onto my face and neck. Hubs says no more riding.
