How much money do RU-vidrs really make?
It’s an important question, because according to a recent study, becoming a RU-vidr is now considered one of the most desirable jobs in the world. And yet, some articles will tell you almost nobody is even making a living on RU-vid. But then, on the other side, some people talk about normal people becoming millionaires from their videos. So, what is the truth - how rich can you get from youtube?
In this video we’re answering how youtube ad revenue works, how much money you can make with youtube, and all the other ways some youtubers profit from their channel, including some monetization tricks you may wanna use yourself.
For example, I’ll be explaining how a video with less than 1000 views made me over $500, and yet a video with 10,000 views, made considerably less.
So, let’s delve into the truth about making money on youtube.
We begin by talking about how RU-vid ad revenue works - how do some videos make more money than others? Why do some creators get paid millions of dollars of ad revenue whilst other struggle to pay their bills?
To explain all of this, we'll be talking about CPM's and how google ads (youtube ads) work for both advertisers and creators.
However, making more youtube ad revenue is just the tip of the monetization iceberg. For the richest youtubers, ad revenue is NOT how they make most of their money...
And if you want to become a RU-vid millionaire, you're going to need to start thinking about RU-vid more like a business. And so in the rest of this video, we'll be exploring what a RU-vid business really means, and you yourself can start selling your own products or services to make more money.

Exactly, so many people wanna be a RU-vidr because is the "easy way to become millionaires", but once they start uploading content without good storytelling or technical knowledge they see is not that simple, the views are not coming, so they bail. To be honest, making a living on RU-vid takes much more work and learning than a lot of other jobs, is not as easy as many people think it is.

I used to make videos solely about natural hair/beauty but then I decided to lean into my profession as a lawyer and pivot to law/finance. I can definitively say, from personal experience, that everything in this video is true. My videos that are financial and legal in nature provide way more Adsense revenue than my natural hair/beauty videos. It sucks, because I love both topics, but from a purely financial perspective, it clearly makes more sense to lean into niches that ultimately make more money.

Doing youtube as a teenager or young adult without any commitments is a great way to kick start making some extra money. As a parent or adult with lots of responsibility, it is really hard to juggle. It will take years to make money for most people. Let that sink in. Not saying don't start, but to be aware if the level of commitment needed to succeed on this platform.

It's all about the audience, even content is secondary. If you're making videos that people want to watch, then that content becomes king. Secondly, grabbing and understanding the demands of your audience is the hardest part. If you crack that code, then all things fall in place

Haha, I should clarify that is absolutely not normal for my channel whatsoever (not even remotely close), I just thought it was interesting that it's possible for certain topics to get that high. I actually saw one guy with a video CPM over £100 once, which is pretty ridiculous. 😅

CPM is one thing, however, what you need to know is that "Your Cut" amount is coming from the RPM. - That's the money you make after RU-vid takes their 45% cut and gives you the 55% difference.

Wow, writing and editing in your videos is very high quality, but what amazes me even more, is that you are somehow able to create around 15 min long video like this every week. All these animations, transitions, typography, movie clip selection... are you a wizard or something? Do you use some 3rd party assets for AE/PP?

Hey, firstly a huge thanks for the comment, very glad to hear you're enjoying the videos. But to answer your question, for a long while I was doing it all myself but now I'm building a small team to help me produce these videos more regularly, as you're right, they take a very long time. 😅 I'm a big advocate of creators trying to do this so they can make more regular videos whilst still maintaining the quality. (In fact, I actually plan to try and increase the quality and take things up another level over the next year). I just want to let you know though that a lot of people are reporting that RU-vid AREN’T showing them new videos even though they’re subscribed, unless they turn on ‘all notifications’ by pressing the bell. (And some people even have to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to even be able to turn the notifications on). It’s frustrating, as a lot people are missing the new documentaries as a result of this glitch, but just wanted to let you know in case you wanna make sure you see future videos. If so, please consider turning notifications on. Thanks again for the kind words - you’re a legend!

I use social media to make money online doing affiliate marketing and get the bulk of my signups using RU-vid. It took awhile to get the hang of it and I went thru a ton of trial and error but then I hit some momentum and my channel just started growing and growing. RU-vid is not easy at all... It takes consistency and determination. You have to be willing to learn and keep up with the forever changing algorithms but it is possible! Wishing all of you tons of success on your RU-vid journey.
