Maxime Vachier-Lagrave is one of the best exponents of the Najdorf Variation in the Sicilian. We think he is the best in the world right now!
ChessBase India caught up with him to know how young and budding talents could learn an opening like Najdorf. What is the correct approach? Maxime gives his thought-provoking answer.
And yes, a happy 27th birthday to the French GM. 21st October was his birthday!

william harvy najdorf has destroyed by his own opening by Fischer
@stopwritingthatreplyjohnat6638
@@jackripperjr8498 I think it probably deserves to be called the Fischer variation as he is the one who popularised it. Karpov didn't invent the Karpov variation of the caro kann but he gets his name in front of it

Hi all, MVL is definitely an extraordinary player. I have studied and played the Najdorf as well for about 20 years. I'm happy to share all my knowledge and experience in my recent video classes, about 8 hours in total. Hope you will enjoy and improve your knowledge about that important sicilian variant. The english version will be available soon. www.chessleinier.com/en/chess/series/33/how-to-play-the-najdorf-with-blacks-by-leinier-dominguez.html How to play the Najdorf with whites: www.chessleinier.com/en/chess/series/32/how-to-play-the-najdorf-with-whites-by-leinier-dominguez.html How to play the Najdorf with blacks: www.chessleinier.com/en/chess/series/33/how-to-play-the-najdorf-with-blacks-by-leinier-dominguez.html

Why is Gelfand allways ignored when it comes to najdorf? He redefined the opening, and kasparov even admitted that Gelfand knew all the lines with 7... nbd7 in old mainline and the english attack better than him. Fischer didn’t have profound knowledge of the opening as Kasparov and Gelfand. I would say 1. Kasparov 2. Gelfand 3. MVL

In classical. Pretty much everyone loses to magnus. In faster formats? Mvl is comparatively good.
