I have been crocheting for 40 years, and the biggest issue I have with starting a new project is knowing how long to make the foundation chain. With this method it is so easy to see how long I need to make the project. Thank you for your clear instructions and helpful video!

With this 'new" foundation chain you have saved my twin size scrap yarn blanket from the trash can or dog blanket!! Many thanks.

This technique is so helpful. Thank you so much for making and uploading. I've been crocheting for over 40 years and made a few blankets in my time. This technique saves time on counting accurately how many chains to start with. I tend to mis-count after 50 chains. I am using this technique moving forward I just started a shawl that has a foundation chain of over 200 chains. I used the foundation double crochet and saved myself so much time, frustration and eye strain. I liked and commented because more chrocheters need to see this. ❤❤❤

Girl, I have heard of this chainless foundation soooo much but have never seen it shown so easy as you just did it. MIND BLOWN!!! WOW! Thank you soooo much! I can FINALLY do it in all those stitches. This is AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for making this so easy. Love it!!! 💕🥰💕

Wow. Agree with many others. Years of chain replaced in a flash. Other video presentations of this were confusing and hard to manipulate. Easy.. straight forward… paced.. voice tone added clear caring tone.. simple to follow. Masterfully done!

YOU ARE THE BEST!!!. I've been crocheting for more years that I really want to say.....and you know..."You can teach an old dog new tricks!!!" I've watch more than 6 different video on how to start my work without a foundation chain and as hard as I tried couldn't get it to give me a smooth bottom finish....then you came along.....Eureka!!! you're the best....Thank you!

FANTASTIC! I wish I knew of this technique 50 years ago. What an easy method to correct a MAJOR PROBLEM in all those thousands of foundation chain patterns. You have a perfect calm voice and explain very clearly and slowly so everyone can grasp this “new” method. I can’t even begin to thank you enough.

I am a very experienced knitter with basic crochet skills. That foundation chain with many stitches is the hardest part of the whole process in my mind. I am making a shawl and have been redoing a chain of 200 stitches over and over for days now and once I was able to get a decent looking untwisted chain, I found it to be too tight for the fabric. This is brilliant! It’s easy to do and it’s easy to count the stitches you have. Not sure why this isn’t the standard way of doing things. It will be my go to for all projects. As a knitter, I also appreciate your “knotless” start. I’ll be using that technique as well. This is a great tutorial- clear, slow, concise and no background music. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for this video. I tried looking at other videos, but they did not turn the work upside down like you did so it looked like they were putting the needle into the side stitch of the work instead of the bottom. This video really helped me to master this technique. I was always coming up with the wrong number on my second row and I would have to start all over again. I think the first and second rows are the hardest because you have to make your stitches are even on the first row and it is easy to miss a stitch on the second row. Especially when you are using multicolored yarn. This solves that problem. Now I just have to count my stitches to make sure I have the correct number on both rows. and both rows will be uniform. This is great!!!

I totally love this. Yes I am one that’s been crocheting for decades, and was always frustrated with that foundation chain being kind of tight as I’m learning this stitch I noticed it starts to become a curve if I wonder what I’m doing wrong.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 месяца назад
The natural tendency of this stitch is to curve very slightly. Give it a stretch and see if it straightens out. If it does not, then the loop you are pulling up from the base of the previous stitch might be too short. So when you insert your hook into the base of the previous stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, try stretching that loop a little longer to loosen it. That should help with the curving. I hope this helps!
