I was a cradle orthodox and for the first 17 years and then I started doing my research and asking questions and had some serious doubts about my faith and I had been thinking about athiesm for about a year. It took me a lot of research, reading and contemplation and prater to come to the conclusion that God is undoubtably real and the Orthodox faith is true. I would say most people who are honest with themselves and do their research will come to christianity eventually. Others might need a nudge from God and the saints.
Hi Karas, I share exactly the same story. During the 3 years of search I went into philosophy, Eastern religions; dark places, and felt like a drowning man in a stormy ocean. But yes, whoever is honest, will find Christ (nobody comes to the Father except through Him). I remember also, that I always had this belief in God; but as soon as those philosophies and stuff took over, I became more inclined towards atheism. Curious, huh? It's as if atheism produces more atheism (same some priests, who do wicked things, by their actions as if declaring atheism, lacking fear of God). And Jude 1:8 says something like: By the strength of their dreams these wicked ones abuse the heavenly authorities. (I felt it speak as if directly to me, for I was headed towards oblivion; but God rescued me, and I Thank Him with my whole heart).
@@karas3248 Yeah! "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days." 2 Timothy 3:1 "while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it," 2 Timothy 3:13-14
Thank you Bojan My wife has been struggling for a long time because should could not "feel" God; this was exactly what she needed to hear After I relayed your message to her she immediately picked up the bible and started reading. Thank you, brother, I pray we will become catechumens of the antiochian orthodox church in due time.
How many times the Lord has shown His providence, and how many revelations of His wisdom and mysteries? Countless... But we forget or not even aware of this, how worthless we truly are... Thanks for the video.
Regarding the creed: "A certain spiritual father advised a young priest to think of his own death when holding the aer during the creed because that will be over your face as you go to eternal life."
@@BanterWithBojan You should, whenever you get the time, make a short video on how to practice. You see, I have been wondering if as Orthodox Christians we are saved by the right beliefs and the right practices? I've been reading about Orthodoxy and yearning to convert for almost three years. I'm closer than ever to finding a parish and a spiritual father. Due to extenuating circumstances I was unable to attend an Orthodox parish for the last 2 and a half years. But, now God seems to have blessed me. I truly believe God has been guiding me down this path for the last 2 and a half years.
This video and "A Caveat to Orthodoxy" has really helped me today. Would you consider changing the title of the latter? The subject matter was what I was looking for, and by God's grace I found it. God bless
Thank you for your videos! I appreciate your art, and it's also a blessing for Orthodox Christians to have a platform to share knowledge and ideas with one another and with newcomers. I'm Greek Orthodox, and my fiancé is Antiochian Orthodox. Growing up Greek, I thought all Orthodox Christians, unless converts, were named after saints/feasts of the Church. He and his family have secular legal names that are different than their baptismal names. In Greek culture, we all have baptismal names as our first/official names, and I'm wondering how it is in your culture? I've never heard of a St. Bojan, so maybe having a different name than your baptismal name is more common in Orthodoxy than I thought? Or is there a St. Bojan, and I just haven't heard of him? I'm always interested in learning about Pan-Orthodox cultures.
I come back and watch this informative video from time to time as it is so easy to forget the points you make about faith, especially using the imagination, so crucial to keep that point in the forefront of my mind prior to prayer
I can't recommend anything specific ( almost all of them are good), but if I really need to pick one I would say... books by saint John chrysostom (his homelies are quite Good)
