SUMMARY:
--------------------
In this episode of The Charged Life, #1 New York Times bestselling author and high performance coach Brendon Burchard riffs on the question: "How can I believe in people again if I've been so hurt and disappointed by other people?"
This is Brendon speaking freestyle, recorded in one take without prompter or notes.
We all struggle to make it through life. Remember that. Have empathy for others. A must-watch for those who have lost faith in others, doubted humanity, pushed the doors to their minds and hearts closed.
Here's what you can do:
1. Don't Play the Victim Game. We often feel that people can't understand us, so we start separating ourselves from them. But there's seven billion people on the planet, and thousands of years of human history. You are not alone, nor are you going through something that no one can understand. It's easier to believe in people again when you realize that people CAN understand you.
2. Share Who You Are. The way to trust people again is to share your thoughts, your feelings, your beliefs, your ambitions, your dreams with people again. Trust that people will support you... but only if you give them reason to by sharing yourself authentically.
3. Network with your positive network. If everyone seems like a jerk, but you have at least one positive person who you work with at your job, go out to lunch with them. Start talking with them and get to know their friends. Go out to lunch with their friends. Go out to dinner with their friends. Positive people tend to attract other positive people and as soon as you reconnect with your friends who are positive, who do believe in people, who do believe in you, who do cheer you on, you start to access their network of other people like that.
Follow the advice in this video and the points above and soon you'll find more supportive people who believe in you, who want to engage with you, who you have enthusiasm to meet and see again and then you have what we call The Charged Life.

Great video. Life really is so simple. We just complicate it so much. "When we build a wall against the bad people, we also block the good ones" So simple yet so profound. Thank you for this amazing video!

What if an overwhelming majority of the people coming to you are of the bad kind and the few "good" ones simply go with the flow of having you humiliated just so everybody else feels better about themselves? The only times I ever get invited to a party is to fulfill that uplifting role of that guy who's so less cooler than any of us so it's probably good to have him around. I block people because interacting with them is a suicide-inducing nightmare. Throughout the 27 years of my life there is so little joy I ever drew from company and so much pain and humiliation. Is it any wonder that right now I prefer to just stick to myself and avoid social situations altogether? That when I have a free evening I prefer to actually enjoy myself rather than spend it on constantly thinking "is anyone looking at me? what are they thinking now? why should I be listening to how great a time they recently had with their awesome friends?"? I don't think so.

Here in 2019 ! Hate to say it but I was definitely one of those "they can't understand me" type of dudes. My thought process behind it was : I've learned a lot, I arrived to pretty deep conclusions, and if I share them with people, they won't understand. So I'd rather just not share them than having to take so much time explaining myself They can't understand anyways so let's save everyone some time. I was wrong thinking like this, I knew it was not beneficial to me or anybody else, but I kinda needed a reminder that people really want to know and grow at the end of the day.

I never said nobody could understand me. In fact, I'm pretty sure most people out there could definitely understand me, like an open book. I feel like every time I open my mouth or simply walk past someone that person can already say that I'm lonely, that I'm bitter, that I'm cold and that it's probably for the best to stay away from me. It's *me* who can't understand others, no matter how hard I try. No wonder why I avoid interacting with others if someone talking to me already sets my blood boiling and increases my heartbeat ten times. I feel like they might throw a punch at me at any moment so I instinctively cower and start policing my every thought before I say it outloud. Then that other person can see I am visibly disturbed and so they back away. And it's like this every time.

Example: I work at a family style restaurant; I have worked there for 2.5 years, it was my first job, and I am currently 20 years old. I work the same days with the same people, and we continually have the same problems day after day. Keep in mind, some days I see these people more than my own family, so in a way they've had to substitute for some of that. They are also a variety of ages, but most are either in high school or middle-aged. There are many who work there as bread-winners for their family, and who have worked in the restaurant business for their entire lives. I know the stress, I know the business, I know the mob-mentality and how much easier it is to criticize someone than to simply give that person a break. I try to keep open communication with some of them, who I see as parental figures at work, but some days it seems like those relationships I hold dear aren't actually there and never were at all. I know that people understand what I'm going through at work because they too have the same job (although I'm a hostess and they're servers, the idea is still the same: we are a staff who is serving one customer base). Some days though, the servers (usually 4-12 of them) become a mob that all start nit-picking at me, the 1 hostess. I'm not one to argue, but I've also learned that I'm wasn't hired to please my co-workers, I'm there to please the customers. This also means pissing off a lot of people, which might just blow any chance at a healthy relationship with them. It's hard to feel understood when you feel like no one listens. This is one aspect of my life: work. But the thing is when I go home to my parents and my sister the idea is that my job is easy and I'm not suppose to vent and complain about my day--another feeling of being misunderstood. A lot of times I'm not trying to complain, I'm talking out loud to figure out what I'm suppose to change to help the situations at work. Instead of advice I get shut down. So what is a 20 year old girl suppose to do? I know I'm young, and I have it relatively easy with a part-time job paying my way through college at a breakfast restaurant surrounded by the elderly (customers). What people don't seem to understand in my life is that I go through a ton of peer pressure and stress throughout my day. I am asked to multitask and to people please a dining room of customers as well as a kitchen full of servers, when in fact I am only one person. At the end of the day, I do love my job despite how stressful my days at work are. I am one person just trying to get through college so I can progress my life forward. I realize everyone else is fighting similar battles and are in different situations; but when it's the same people day after day on the attack, it's no longer a situation where they are stressed and I should just be patient with them. There's a point where changes have to be made--I don't want to be anyone's continuous punching bag because I'm younger or because it's 1(me)-VS-10(them). In the end what I'm asking is, How can I help others take what I have to say less offensively, and instead take it more proactively (as me asking for advice in order to resolve the issues)?

From your advise, I deduce that The people who are depressed, betrayed, or just in general sad, should just look for people who are possitive, but you see, there is a difference between people, they are not just the same and as you said in the video, everyone is unique, but we do share common attitude about certain things. What I do disagree with this video, is that you talk only about the people who are in that situation. What about the people that are around them, usually the things that hurt us the most are things that are deep bond with us, part of our dreams, inspirations etc. Then is the moment we build the so called "Wall", that is the moment we need the help of others, and as you stated in the video, most people are kind, so why you are not approaching them to, what about them? Every person has the ability to perceive the current state you are, the basic state, if your sad or happy, if your angry or worried, so then what stops them? So we should be good, focusing ourself only? Isn't that called narcissism and usage of people? P.S. I am not agains your motivation video, in fact I was influenced by it, just I do think there is more to it, that what you shared with the audience, for example, what about the people that let you down? Maybe they were hurt aswell in their life, they were lied by someone, what about all that? We cannot know what made them do what they do at all time, so isn't it true that looking for each other is important as looking for ourself? P.P.S. Thank you for your time.
