I hate sewing rounds & even straight corners. I always mess up..!! I truly didn't know anything about double bias tape. This is a helpful tutorial. So I really need to practice. I'm so glad you explained stuff instead of just pointing..!! Ooooo soooo clean & neat, I luvvvv. Thanks alot..🙂🙂

Just discovered your videos! You're great and very helpful. Is there a different technique to sewing a V-neck bias facing? I watched both your videos on bias binding and bias facing for round, just wondering if there's a trick for V-neck bias facing... I'm in the middle of sewing samples. wish me luck!

Anastasia, thank you for sharing this video. I've watched many tutorials in reference to bias binding the neckline and arms, however when I followed your instructions it was really easy. I just started sewing again since high school which was 42 years ago, so basically I'm starting from scratch again. I will be following up on your videos for more detail instructions indeed. Should you stay stitch the neckline before applying the bias tape in either application?

Your shirt is really cute!!! That's a good idea to practice with the binding on muslin, I'll have to check out my local sewing shop to find some. Can that bias facing be used in a v-neck?

Thank you 😊 You can use bias facing for a V but your going to have to cut the binding at the same V angle 📐 . It is a bit more complicated.

I made a dress using a bias binding neckline. The neckline does not lay flat but kind of stands up around the neckline. Any ideas on why that happened? I think I will unpick and try again but I want it to work right the next time!

Well one is visible & one is not. So it’s up to you if you want to see the binding on the project or not. You can use these to finish any raw edge.

You might want to try using a zig zag stitch or a stitch for stretch fabrics.

This is exactly what I need. I bought bunch of bias bindings when I started sewing a few years ago, tried once, failed miserably, and never dared to try again. Now my sewing advanced a little as I have been doing simple alterations on my own clothes. After watching this video, I am going to give it another try as I have a dress with a neckline too high. I am going to low the neckline and finish it with a bias bonding. Thanks for your clear and easy to follow instructions, Anastasia.

You can. You have to be careful it does not stretch out when you are sewing a woven to a knit.

Sewing the first fold of the bias inside is ok but my problem is once outside I can not hide the first sewing or sew it correctly and straigt

You probably need to pull the bias binding over more or do the first stitches closer to the outside. Getting it correct and straight takes practice. When teaching, I have students do a practice a few times because it's not something you necessarily get perfect the first time. Keep sewing!

Hi Anastasia! Can I use the invisible bias facing technique to finish the necklines of garments made with more unusual lightweight knit fabrics (ie. not a standard jersey)? I have this cool knit fabric that I want to use to make a t-shirt dress, and I quickly realised that it's not the sort of fabric you can finish with a neck binding or ribbing as it is too lightweight. Is the bias facing method the answer?! :D

Yes you can! You will want to use a knit fabric for the bias facing though.
