Get rid of those spongy feeling brakes and tackle that job you’ve been putting off. This was my first attempt at a brake bleed and it was pretty simple! If I can do it, so can you. The bike in this video is an Ariel Rider X48 and the brakes are Tektro. The same principles apply to any hydraulic brakes, so it doesn’t really matter what kind of bike of you have as long as you have hydraulic brakes (not cable pull). You can order a kit on Amazon for $20 and it should have all of the adaptors for all the major brands.
Don’t forget to wipe your rotors down with rubbing alcohol when you’re done!

In my experience its best to take the bottom caliper screw out first and attach the filled syringe. If you take the top screw out 1st theres a few ways for it to let air in and youll leak out the bottom caliper.

There should be oil in that cup when doing this and the plug out. The plug only goes in when putting the cup on, then oil is put in the cup and the plug taken out, then the syringe plunger stuff, then at the end the plug goes back in the cup just to stop whatever oil is in the cup from coming out when you unscrew the cup.

I would of kept the pads in....if they aren't new air is only going to get into the system again. The brake block is a perfect brake pad measurement to make sure the piston is all the way in and to ensure if the brake is pressed the piston won't fall out

Glad you didn't take the rear wheel off and instead just took off the brake caliper. Much easier to just remove the brake caliper than either wheel.

Nice video, only, if you showed where does the syringe go in on the caliper would be great 😀 No clue where to stick it on my bike....

Usually it's a button head bolt, whereas the bolts holding the caliper together you never want to touch, take a bigger allen key and are "cap head" bolts.

It gives me confidence to try it since my rear brake won't work at all. As soon as my Oxycodone kicks in I'm going to take a run at it.

Using the hopper method that you used instead of 2 syringes is the best option. Good choice.

The cup he used compared to an open ended syringe with no plunger, is the same thing. The syringe at the lever with no plunger is basically just a cup. There's a syringe at the caliper end in both cases, they are both the same setup really.

When removing the hose from the caliper right before putting the screw in the oil start coming out how can i block it. Because when the oil come out the air will get in. Please help
@yutehube4468
@yutehube4468 27 дней назад
If oil comes out, it's under pressure and no, that shouldn't suck air in anyway. If oil comes out when undoing the caliper bolt, you had pressure in the hose which means either: 1. You pulled the brake lever without quickly opening and closing the caliper bolt to make the pressure equal out. 2. You did not fully open apart the pistons. 3. Or both! Make sure your pistons are fully apart with a block that's from a kit of the same brand as your brakes, so you know for sure it's the perfect size. Having the pistons fully pushed apart lowers the pressure in the hose to the lowest it can be and in theory with pistons fully apart, it should be the same pressure outside the hose as it is in the hose, zero pressure, thus no air goes in but no oil comes out.

Man I've been riding bicycle since I was a child and I've never had to deal with anything like this with the brakes just get squishy and stopped working what a pain in the ass.

Can I ask why you didn’t just take the caliper off the front as well instead of the tire?
@yutehube4468
@yutehube4468 27 дней назад
Because aligning a caliper again is a PITFA.

My the top is my screw is stripped
@yutehube4468
@yutehube4468 27 дней назад
The screw or the hole? If it's the hole then it needs a helicoil, but upside down because you don't want shards of metal getting in the reservoir, but if a screw already stripped there, then there probably is shards in the reservoir anyway. Fully bleed oil through and keep throwing away the old oil, until no more shards come through + do the helicoil.
