I have a few infiniti's including Q50 and FX45. My nissan Frontier SE CC 6 Cyl bottom hose was not getting hot and always cold. I Changed Clutch Fan, Thermostat, Antifreeze, bled the system and nothing. I eventually came to the conclusion that the Radiator was either bad or clogged up, Sure Enough I take Radiator to a Radiator place and asked for a cleaning of the Radiator "$25" Pretty cheap. When I went to pick up Radiator I spoke to the person that unclogged it, he said it was pretty clogged up, put radiator back on, added Radiator bled the system and Viola all is well and the needle is always less than half way 🤗. Mind you my Frontier is in Blazing Hot Puerto Rico as it is my Vacation Truck, yet my engine runs cool at all times. A simple air bubble in the cooling system can cost you lots of money if you let it get overheated. Thanks for sharing, I will be working on my Q50 which was low on Coolant.

Trust me it's super easy. 1. Jack front end up a bit so the nose is pointing up a bit. This helps with bleeding better 2. Drain system 3. Fill system 4. Turn vehicle on 5. Turn heat on low not full blast as this will take longer for your thermostat to open up 6. Let the thermostat open up a few times and look to make sure all air bubbles are gone 7. Also back left of engine there is a bleeder you can open as well to bleed from all points

@TheRoostersGarage
@TheRoostersGarage 3 года назад
You turn the heat on not due to hot or cold air, but because most heater cores have a coolant valve that regulates the amount of coolant through the heater core. Some vehicles don't regulate the coolant, only the air. But to be on the safe side, heat temp all the way up to allow max coolant flow, and the fan on the first click just to make sure the system is on to ensure the valve is open. This is also a double check to ensure you've got the air out of the heater core if you feel heat once the engine warms up. It's a good thing to see air come out as long as it stops. If the head gasket is blown, there will be nasty colored water and air coming out and it won't stop.

@Pete_Tech_
@Pete_Tech_ 3 года назад
Fill the system full and run with the cap off. Once the fluid level is stabilized (has been running for awhile and tank is topped off) then put the cap back on. Look for the bleeder screw (tiny cap near the expansion tank) and crack loose and continue to let run for 10 minutes. Rev engine to 2,000 rpm for 1 minute with the bleeder still open. Shut bleeder go for 5 minute drive. Leave engine running, loosen bleeder again for 1 minute. All the air should be out at that point. They are a PITA to bleed.

Checked for fan operation and everything seems normal, radiator cap looks good, bleed the system, did a leak down test to check for a blown head gasket, good. But keeps overheating. Im noticing temperature drops when I accelerate the RPMS slightly, and it drops quickly back to normal, goes from 234 F to 205-210. If your confident the air is out, cap it and go drive it, don’t drive very far in case it starts to overheat. If it does bring it back shut it off wait for the system to cool down and open the Well it’s still somewhat warm and it should push some more air out. I have seen this be a common theme with some cars, one there is no cap on the system cannot make any pressure. Therefore, the boiling point is much lower.

@Pete_Tech_
@Pete_Tech_ Год назад
Okay, so first off. Make sure you perform this procedure from a non overheating condition. Meaning if coolant temp is already to hot, stop the bleed procedure immediately. Check to ensure that your fans, both high and low operate. Often I will turn the AC on during this procedure to force the fan operation. Secondly make sure your using a fluid feeder (like shown) that sits higher than the highest part of the cooling system. Third a sticking thermostat can cause these issues too. Make sure to feel the hose connect to the stat housing, if it’s cooler than the upper (noticeably) change the thermostat first. Another key element is raising the Rpms to get some water flow, helps pull air out.

dont you mean to say by runing the heater it removes and decreases heat from the engine and not increases it?

I followed all your steps. I left it on for 15 mins then all the coolant was gushing out of the funnel?? Why is the funnel overflowing???

Could be combustion gasses getting into cooling system. I’d have the head gaskets checked out!

Thank you for your advice. I was looking for that part of lifting the front if its a go or no go. My last mechanic stole my coolant reservoir of my CB4. So from now on ill try all by myself. Takes longer and ill make some mistakes. But at least no one steals my shit xD

The level in the funnel rises because coolant is expanding from heat not proof that there is air in the system

Has any one found a fix for this? I'm having the same issue 2011 g37 sedan. It's driving me crazy really cause I can't figure it out and no shop I take it to can figure it out I've dumped roughly 600 bucks in diagnostics and shop visits for this issue but no one can figure it out...why does it overheat at a stop but cool down when driving? No leaks any where head gasket is fine, fans do come on, coolant switch works, water pump works, changed thermostat problem still persists. Any answers?

Had the same problem with my Infiniti. Changed all kinds of parts and even had the coolant system vacuum bled and still overheated. Finally took it to the dealership as a last resort and they said even tho it’s vacuum bled there will still be air. Only way to eliminate the air pockets is thru this funnel and run it for an hour -hour and half at a incline. Hope that helps

You could plug it or u can get tubing put it at the bottom of th funnel and the other end in a bucket let gravity work it’s magic bro

You used half coolant and half distilled water?
@Pete_Tech_
@Pete_Tech_ 2 года назад
You can. It’s not really that exact of a science. I live in MN, it gets -40 here. If it’s not 50/50 it’s gonna freeze. Now in Florida you could use 90% water 10% coolant. Lol

what if the bubbles just don’t stop?
@AZ-bn8ns
@AZ-bn8ns 5 месяцев назад
Then you have an issue with the gaskets, do a test with the coolant to confirm if there is combustion in the coolant system. Debris along with bubbles is a visual sign of a bad gasket
