Here is a free Davinci Resolve course so you can continue learning how to create a lot of effects: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rXA7JBzmlWI.html 👉And if you want more effects and transitions for your videos, I recommend these: 1.envato.market/DaVinciResolve ▶Many of you ask if it can be done with a Depth Map, but I do not recommend it since in the gray areas (zones with less intensity of the depth map) when applying the blur effect, it will create a ghosting effect.

Thank you for the detailed tutorial! But apart from the anamorphic feature is it any different in previous versions that you use mask then blur?
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
Basically, it's the same, but in my experience, 'Gaussian blur' looked good when applied separately, whereas 'lens blur' did not perform as well. However, this might have been due to the videos that I used. I can't be 100% sure since I haven't made many comparisons. *I also tried using 'Depth Map', but lowering the opacity of the blur doesn't work well, as it blends with the original video.

How this looks compared to depth map + depth blur (in Fusion), in particular compared the edge of a sharp object where foreground and background are separated?
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
Depth Map reduces the intensity of the blur (Opacity) and blends with the original video, it doesn't look good. If you apply blur, it should be at 100%.

Depth map is not useful to create the right depth separation for the blur?
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
I recorded a similar tutorial using Depth Map but ultimately decided not to publish it. The problem is that reducing the opacity of the blur (the areas with less intensity in Depth Map) creates a strange blurring effect that doesn't look natural. Because the original video and a blur overlay merge together and it looks strange.

how about using depth map instead of three magic masks ?
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 2 месяца назад
Yes, you can also make the selection with a Depth Map. The only thing is that the gray areas (zones with less intensity) in my opinion, do not look very good when applying blur.

Wonder why they don’t add 90 rotate blur in advanced tab?
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
Hi dpixvid! If you're referring to the anamorphic option, I believe it's not associated with degrees. Increasing it distorts horizontally, and decreasing it does so vertically, but very subtly. That's why I increase the blur afterward. That's why setting the value to 0.2 (minimum) results in completely vertical blur distortion.
@dpixvid
@dpixvid 3 месяца назад
@@SergiomotaENG I hear you but stretching the bokeh balls vertical to ovals would go a long way to selling it better... maybe can combine with motion blur at 90 degrees...
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
@@dpixvid Just as I do in the video, it distorts completely vertically. Keep in mind that in the example with the woman in the subway there aren't many lights, so you won't be able to see many 'bokeh balls'. On the train tracks, you can see 4 from some reflections, and verify that they are vertical. At minute 5:07, as I increase and decrease the blur, it can be clearly seen. Don't worry, it is exactly 90 degrees.

Haha, I don't know names, but especially people who aren't familiar with photography or videography. There are a lot of beginners who don't even know what depth of field is. That's why I thought about including that part in the video; I believe it can help a lot of people.

It still doesn't look right in the second clip. Areas of the floor closest to the woman shouldn't be as blurry as the deeper background, and it makes it look fake
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 2 месяца назад
For now, this is the most realistic we can achieve. With the "depth map" effect, we can't do it because all it does is modify the opacity/transparency of the blur. It would be nice to be able to apply more or less blur depending on the areas, instead of just reducing the opacity, but currently, it's not possible.
@leebrandt8597
@leebrandt8597 2 месяца назад
@@SergiomotaENG Yeah I tried the depth map yesterday and it does an incredible job, only issue is that it is very taxing on the laptop so playback is minimal, so this would be the last thing to achieve after the grade
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 2 месяца назад
@@leebrandt8597 Well, my results were not good with Depth Map, as it creates a blurred layer of blur that doesn't look realistic, meaning the blur effect mixes with the original sharp image.
@leebrandt8597
@leebrandt8597 2 месяца назад
@@SergiomotaENG Not sure what you mean by that. But I did find myself toning down the blur to 2.8 since the 4 default seem way too much and unrealistic. Bottom line, I hope that the new background blur effect improves over time

Do you consider this to be a tutorial video? If so, WHY do you have background MUSIC. Have you EVER seen a professor ANYWHERE play background MUSIC while teaching the class? NO, why not? Because music CAN ME a distraction. How many of us were distracted with this MUSIC???????????
@SergiomotaENG
@SergiomotaENG 3 месяца назад
I have seen teachers with background music, like a Zumba instructor, for example. P.S.: I am not a teacher nor is this a class; I'm just someone who uploads videos. I like to have background music, and if that's a problem, then my videos are not for you. The music isn't that loud either; if it were drowning out the voice or making it hard to understand, then I would understand the concern.

@@davescorneroftheworld1147 I haven't said that tutorials without music are wrong; I've said that I like having background music. If this creators offer advice, I'll consider it, given their experience. However, you can't demand things from people just because you dislike something, since these videos aren't private for you, and you don't pay me a salary for it. For now, I'll continue creating tutorials the way I would like to see them and as people enjoy it.
