Buy an instant pot. It takes thirty seven minutes with one cup of water. Use the rack to put the potatoes on and put the potatoes in whole with the skins and prick them. Use pressure. They are like baked sweet potatoes.
I have tried instant pot.. its great, but I always overcook mine. I've taken to a 5 min parboil, drain/air dry a bit, toss in oil/herb and toss them in a Breville smart oven on air fry at 420 until they turn golden.. little oil, all flavor, soft buttery inside. If you wanna take it up ten notches or so, prep your potatoes overnight and soak them in your herbs, I'm a fan of thyme and garlic a little turmeric with onion powder.
That’s a great way to do it too! Mine came out stringy because I let them boil for a very long time - maybe even for too long. If I boiled them for less time and took them out sooner, the texture would have been firmer and less mushy. Ideally, I would prefer that they end up like that, but sometimes I just get distracted and leave them on the stove for too long haha
WOW !!! GREAT advice in preparing these S.P. I'm buying that kind of Pot with a strainer, because, INEVITABLY, I end up pouring out whatever I'm boiling. macaroni, pasta of ANY kind, black-eyed peas or just anything. So, MANY thanks !! P.S., I did not know one COULD eat the skin or jacket. I ALWAYS eat the "jacket" with Red or Golden potatoes, even when making mashed potatoes, I leave it on & eat it.
@@sebxlopez Thank you !! I only boiled 4 S.Ps' & ate all four, skins & ALL !! I only put salt, petter & butter. I must say that was the first time I ate the skins AND they were G G G R R E A T !! (My Tony the Tigar impression). Several other channels advised against it, saying "Too tough" or "taste terrible" or "very rough" or lastly, "bad for the stomach". WHAT ?? The skins (not to be confused with Washington, LOL) were FANTASTIC, NOT tough, NOT rough NOR any of the above mentioned, THE SKINSS WERE GREAT !! Many Thanks !!
Yummy, just boiled pot sweet potatoes I put pink salt black pepper and cinnamon some times a little butter on mine, You are right they are so good. Do a vid on fresh pineapple.
Some videos suggest that sweet potatoes should not be boiled---:because by boiling some nutrients get lost into water! Instead of boiling, should do steaming.?
@@sebxlopez Hilarious 🤣😂 ....probably a good idea you mentioned no dishwashing liquid. Maybe this person didn't watch all of your video but seriously asking if you washed the potatoes first 🙄 l feel this person has never eaten a potato before.....maybe who knows lol.
Sweet potatoes are my favorite, but sometimes I eat white, yellow, and red potatoes too. I’ll store all the leftover potatoes in some rubbermaid food containers, put them in the fridge, and then eat them over the next 2-3 days. I haven’t tried freezing them, but you can certainly do that to preserve them better after cooking. I would probably freeze them if I had to store them for more than 3 days 👍🏼
I boil them like this when I'm making a lot for candy yams or sweet potato pie. Usually for single serving I just pop it in the microwave. What did you do with all the rest of the sweet potatoes? 🤔
Sweet potato pie sounds delicious! I ended up eating all the sweet potatoes over the following 3-4 days. I’ll store them in tupperware containers in the fridge, and when I want some, I’ll slice them in half and reheat them in the microwave. Then, I’ll season them and eat them. If they’re on the softer side and the texture is a bit mushier, I’ll spread them on rice cakes and enjoy them like that 👍🏼
I don’t think I mentioned this, but anywhere between 20-45 minutes should be good. These were cooked for at least 40 minutes, and they came out on the mushier side. It’s best to check them with a fork, knife, or skewer after 15 minutes, and then check again every 5 minutes until they’re at the texture you’re looking for 👍🏼
