Check for clogged jets in your lower sprayer arm (the one in the bottom of the dishwasher) before replacing the door seal. I followed a comment on the AppliancePartsPro website for the door seal and it fixed my door leak without replacing any parts (i.e. a seal). I checked the jets by removing the lower spray arm (easy to do, just pull it out) and placing the inlet hole in the center of the arm under a running tap...water will come out of the jets partially or not at all. Keep the water running thru the inlet hole and knock the arm against the sink basin to dislodge blockages (coffee granules in my case). I ended up knocking the arm about 10 times to fully dislodge everything.

I couldn’t pull my dishwasher out. It was installed too tight. So I improvised and probed the door hinges open with screwdriver and replaced the seal without releasing the hinges from the back. Very challenging but I did it!!

Wear gloves as he does--lots of sharp edges. Bring rags and (I used) mineral spirits to clean up the greasy mega-mess around the old seal before installing the new one. My SHU4016UC has a full side panel requiring removal to get to the hinges making the repair much more involved. Especially note: All the other screws on the door stay in place; only the 4 hinge screws and 6 panel screws are removed---others are for the timer, etc. Before replacing the outer panel recheck the seal to see that the lip has not come loose from the groove during the re-hinge-hookup acrobatics (and it WILL be acrobatics!). In replacing the front panel look up behind the controls to make certain no wires are caught up it the clips that hold the panel. 8:17 "push the bottom in so it goes over the spacers" will be a difficult step as the spacers are a good deal wider than the panel; you don't want to 'bang' it in and dent your panel, so have your gloves on to minimize cuts and scrapes and 'pack a lunch' for this step.

Just bought the part from you and did the repair. Quite easy. Thanks for this video. Quick Q. Is it normal for water to get under the new lower seal in the corners of the tub? I can see a small amount of suds in both corners of the pan, I’m running it without the front panel. Thanks. Ps other 72” seal is new also
@atfnik5348
@atfnik5348 Год назад
Hello. I have got the same issue and still testing without the panel. Are you having any problems with that?
@Samlol23_drrich
@Samlol23_drrich Год назад
@@atfnik5348 I spent at least two weeks playing with the amount of water getting to that seal. You know what the issue was in the end? One of the dishwasher arms (that rotate and spray water) had a small split in it. That allows too much water to get into the machine in the wrong place and floods the door seal causing a leak. So before you buy a door seal, take off both the lower and upper arm (They should snap off) and flow water into them or inspect them carefully around the seams for split plastic. Since replacing the arm it has been fine, and I kept the extra lower seal so now I have a spare.
@atfnik5348
@atfnik5348 Год назад
@@Samlol23_drrich Thanks for the reply. İ will check those today. While watching seal replacement videos, i saw some guys having the same issue. One of them used soldering iron to stick that piece :) if my case is not the spray arms, then it's definitely the seal itself that causes the leak. Did it overflow and drip outside the seal while testing?
@Samlol23_drrich
@Samlol23_drrich Год назад
@@atfnik5348 yes, it did overflow while testing. It totally has to do with the water level in the machine. Make sure you raise the front legs up so the machine is either completely level when testing, or better yet pitched back slightly. If there is too much water in there its going to overflow no matter how well you place and attach the seal. I used silicone thinking it would block the extra water. If you don't have a split arm, I would bet the machine is leaning forward. Even tipped back is harmless. Good luck
@atfnik5348
@atfnik5348 Год назад
@@Samlol23_drrich thank you so much for the help. While attaching the seal i also removed the legs and leg holders to clean and pulled the legs up to keep the machine kind of tilted just like you said. Thanks again.

My Bosh is different it seems 😳 My plastic flap is completely detached and it was placed just on the bottom front. No idea what I should do.
@planetmikeus
@planetmikeus 3 года назад
Can this be replaced without detaching the hinge tensioner/spring?
@thebordernow
@thebordernow Год назад
planetmikeus - I'm guessing you have to unhook the hinge tensioners because if you don't, once you take the door off the hinges to take the old gasket out and seat the new gasket in, those hinges will snap right up into the closed position because there won't be the weight of the door counter+balancing them any longer. And if the hinges are in the up/closed mode, you're not going to be able to get the door - and new seal attachment - screwed back into the hinges.

Are the jets in your lower spray arm clogged? If they are then it can create a "wave" that pushes the water into the tray over the drying inlet on the door. I cleaned my lower sprayer jets and found loads of coffee granules. After cleaning it my leak has stopped (without replacing the door seal).
