Hi Ben, my process is slightly different, I bulk prime straight from the fermenter. Pour the priming solution into the fermenter and give it a very gentle stir, wait 30-40mins, then fill all the bottles half way then go back and top them up. I use some tubing between the spigot and bottling wand and move the wand from bottle to bottle. Also just got a chefalarm after seeing your other vid and it's freaking awesome, cheers mate🍻
The Vanish Oxyclean, is that good for beer glasses as well as not to ruin the head of a beer? Also how long does it take to carb the bottle using this method?
AussieBattler Glass is impervious to most things, but you always rinse thoroughly because soap in the beer is bad! Star-san on the other hand won't affect the beer at all. Carbing in the bottle usually takes a couple of weeks. I sneak a beer to try at about one week and it has a mild fizz but is still under-done. When bottling I find that for the most part they taste best after about a month in the bottle.
hiya very interesting videos for beginners like me, I am at bottling stage and just wondering if there sugar needs to be sterilised first and if so how thanks nev
Sugar isn't a very good environment for anything to grow in so I don't bother with any sort or sanitation for it. If you're concerned, you could add all the sugar to some water, boil it, then mix it directly into the beer before bottling. Plenty of other videos on that method :)
I know it's a bit late for you now, but for anyone reading this, if there's potential for beer bombs, or some have broken already, don't risk it, just remove the caps as carefully as you can, noting that it will make a big mess either way. Chock it up to a failed experiment, and then try again with less sugar next time. If you're doing individual portions, measure each one carefully, if you're mixing all the fermentation sugar into the beer before bottling, mix VERY well. I hope you're OK Antonis.
