Sorry guys I lost the first bit of the video but all the relevant info is still on the rest of it. Hope this helps you to check your scope click value and wether theres any cant.
Hi Vin', I've never thought about doing that, but it makes perfect sense & is also an Indication of how good (or bad) the ratchets on the turrets have been M/c'd., as well as checking for Cant. (which seems to have become the source of a bit of Schoolboy amusement, which I like, & maybe helps build the community.) 😎😎😎
Good shooting and thanks for passing on your knowledge. I learned so much in this video then almost everyone else’s youtube videos combined 👍😆. I hope besides me, a lot of others are really appreciating your channel. I am extremely glad your channel isn’t another product pusher of junk. Like so many other youtubers who don’t care about the quality of our sport/hobby. All they are after is getting free products and making a quick buck ☹️ I think the poorly made springers being showcased on other channels will give most inexperienced people a bad first impression and they will quickly write off springers. And move to PCP.
Great demo for scope testing. Spring rifles are notoriously hard on scopes and sometimes internals shake loose, depending on the quality and age of the scope the turret adjustments may not be as repeatable as you would hope for. Ideally turrets should be at or somewhere close to the middle of their adjustment range (scope optically centred) but in reality to achieve zero this is often not the case. Something to bear in mind when zeroing is that crosshairs may settle ie the first shot you take after having turned the turret adjuster may not fully represent the adjustment and several shots are needed to see the effect of each adjustment. If you encounter difficulty with groups inexplicably opening up, before fighting with turret adjustments it's important to check your stock screws and scope mounts are properly tightened. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been caught out by this and left scratching my head only to discover stock screws working loose (on more than one occasion). Don't over tighten the screws holding the scope tube though as doing so can potentially dent it.
Thanks Vin, I'll definitely be trying that one myself. New JTS Airacuda Max .22 pcp , with a Konus Pro 3-x40 scope, looking forward to getting all set up.
nothing wrong with that scope or the gun , the shooter meh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just pulling your leg mate excellent example of a box test and a very good way to test your equipment . with a little bit of maths you can calculate your mil dots at different zoom settings with a second focal plane scope using your shots to measure if you want to on the same target for that range
Nah that was a fair comment Paul 🤣 and yup a good point about calculating your mil dots. I'm slowly working my way up to showing more advanced techniques while trying to keep it easy to understand 👍👍👍
hello vince , i did do the box test without actual shooting . but wit a scope mounted on a rail and sturdy in a vice . to go round the box and end at the start if the tracking is ok or not ,before mounting on a gun and waist no ammo if the scope is a bad one . taht shooting was not bad . also a good thing 👍👍
Nice one Peter, that will certainly tell you about the click value and return to zero. I'd still advise doing it again and actually shooting to see if the recoil has any negative effects 👍👍👍
Maybe do a Vid' re "Shimming" the scope rings buddy, should you run out of clicks, I had to do this on the Vulcan because of the "High Profile" mounts I needed, to clear the height of the front end of the 3-9 X 50, and being able to swap the scope to a different gun without having to buy another set of Mounts. I also have a Victory, .22 CP2 (CO2) Rifle/Pistol Combo so let's just say for instance, I only had the one scope & mount to use between the 2 guns??
@@vincentenglish8489 that’s the trouble for beginners Vin. If they don’t know they get all confused (understandably). Keep up the good content pal! How do I send you pictures of my gats?
Ahh it was on the bit on video I somehow deleted. It's a .22 HW95L with a 4-12x44 Hawke Vantage SF and Sportsmatch Mid one piece mounts using H&N Field Target ( not field target trophy - different pellets altogether). 👍👍👍
