When I was younger, single handicap, I used to get angry at every bad shot. These days I am playing off 15, I am not trying to improve. I accept the bad days and you enjoy the good days. Most of all I enjoy the golf with a good group of friends. It's supposed to be fun!
Well said pal I’m happy if I’m in the 90s it’s about getting out with your mates taking in the scenery and having a good day out 👌 watching this video it might help my game 🤞🏻
Liam I want your Shot Scope. Fantastic video. I play off 20 and have no woods in my bag - I have always struggled with them. So watching your video has really shown me the way forward - “Widest par 3 in the world” will be my new mantra.
Liam, Liam, Liam... I think your best videos are when you're alone, like in the beginning. It's absolutely stupendous. Oh, and you can keep your watch!
Liam I want your Shotscope. I’m 70 and don’t have the distance I once had. I play similar to how you played today and am happy breaking 90 these days. Golf is all about enjoyment, getting out with friends and having a pint afterwards. Brilliant video as always.
Hi Liam, great video. Normally commen sense and my golf game don't go together, this was just right. I am just short of a decent shot scope... any ideas? Kind regards Mike Hughes
As a 70 year old with only 2 years golfing under my belt, what an inciteful video. Brings course management to the front instead of just trying to batter the ball down the fairway. Liam, I want your Shotscope.
Real golf and shows what you can do .The only thing that you do that many won't do as high handicappers , is strike it good even if off line. . But great video . Well Done 👍
Nearly always use the 8 iron chip and run because my chipping is not great. had my best 9 holes today a 40 round Kirkby Lonsdale. Not bad for a 14 handicapper
Don't worry! I am 66 years old and only hit the ball average of 180 yards at best. In the Myrtle Beach World Amateur handicapped tournament last year my highest round was an 83. I was probably the shortest hitter in my flight of 50 golfers but finished with the lowest score. You can score with a slow swing speed!!!!!!
Liam I want your shotscope,we had a 4 man scramble competition yesterday with 2 9 year olds a boy and a girl as part of our 4 man team, was a competition for charity and after watching afew videos in the past using pretty much this system to get the 1st 2 balls in play and allowing 1 person per hole to go for the glory shot,we ended up winning the competition 👍 keep the videos coming mate ⛳️👌
Hey Liam I want your shot scope I'm a 17 handicap and shot an 85 last week trying to play within myself taking an extra club and swinging 80-85% and trying to play to the biggest part of the greens great video lad most enjoyable
Two year's ago, I was playing off 24, started playing in Wednesday Comps with the OMP'S of my club, their advice, why try smashing a 3 wood off fairway, put a 6 iron up middle and keep ball in play. Straight and steady. I'm now playing off 12 using that method. No driver in bag, and I hit my 3 wood 190/200 but consistently straight with it .
Liam I want your Shotscope. Love this video and is what I'm working on this year.....par 4 on in 3 down in 2, par 5 on in 4 down in 2......par 3 depending on yardage will go for the green but will happily take lay up to get on in 2 and down in 2. Bogey golf with a couple of pars is my goal.
Absolutely brilliant video Liam like in the beginning some of the best videos when you’re alone stop I’m in my late 60s now and I’ve lost many metres of distance so I’m looking forward to taking some of your suggestions and putting them in my game. Stop. PS I don’t need your shot scope. I’ve already got one.
Hey Liam…..I’ve noticed that you sometimes stand too close to the ball….the result is you swing out to in and hit it right….I’m no pro, but if you stand an inch or so farther from the ball, you might not pull the shot. That’s what I do after I pull a shot!….Just a thought….Cheers!
I think shotscope got this wrong...I've only ever been able to hit it 220 off the tee and kept a single digit handicap for 15 years... I guess they are saying the average distance off the tee for someone who breaks 90 is 220 ... I was always taught to keep the ball in play..so short and straight was the name of the game.....I wish I'd been starting now...hit it hard find it and hit it again
Liam I want your Shot scope well played Liam you hit your irons well keeping ball on short stuff name of game in medal did you work out how many stapleford points you got try it with 3 clubs and a putter it could be the beginning of the end for drivers 🤣🤣👍
Shotscope i want your watch . great insightful video liam and iwill take some of this onto golf course however you are still a very good golfer not many poor strikes unlike what a higher handicapper would do . Any chance you could do this again with Ebay Pete and Barlow to see how they get on with a similar strategy . 🙏
Fantastic video, I need to take this on board . After having a stroke 4 years ago( thankfully I'm pretty much OK with just a slightly weaker left side which occasionally creates some weird and wonderful shots) my handicap has unfortunately hit a very high 26 from 15. Most of my problems occur from trying to hit driver or woods. Hitting irons most of the time keeps me out of trouble and would possibly bring my handicap down to somewhere reasonable. The one good thing from my little hospital visit is that if and when I hit a bad shot I no longer get angry I just smile and think to myself ' be happy I'm here playing golf , it could have been a very different outcome' . Liam love watching all the golfmates videos , they're always entertaining . Liam I want your shotscope
Liam give me your shotscope... liam I want your shotscope.. I have been playing exactly like you have in this video as my woods and driver has gone to s@@t and I'm still getting same scores as when I was hitting my woods etc, just seems to be a safer steady way to play... yes it's a little safe/boring but really does show the glory shots don't always pay off and people who hit the ball super distances don't always get the best scores... Great video golf mates
Liam, I want your shotscope. I am really enjoying your 'relaxed' golf. It is definitely when you play the best shots. I suspect I am talking to myself as well... and probably most amateur golfers .... oh, and Cameron Young. Thanks Liam.
Such a great video providing a completely different way to get around the course. I will definitely be giving this a go! Lets see that 200 yard episode.
Liam, I love this Video. Being a 22 Handicap, I always try and look for easier ways to play. I played the other day at my local course and shot 92. Well happy with this. Might be able to to take a few more fivers on the near future! :) keep going Golf Mates!
Liam I want your shot scope. Been watching a guy on RU-vid called Jimmy Tropicana lately . And he tells us amateur plus 15 handicapers to play exactly how you just did it . I played 9 holes today, that way . I was on every green putting for par . Some thirty or forty footers maybe . But food for thought right enough 🤔⛳
This was a brilliant video, Liam. Take the Macho out of golf and a great score is possible. Reminds me of all the older seniors who, like OMP just punt it down the middle all the time and post brilliant scores, time and time again. Stress free golf is the way to go. Shotscope I want your watch. Liam I want your Shotscope.
I enjoyed this video but I think the title is misleading. You fail to consider that people who can only hit 180 yards with their driver from the tee also have corresponding distance reductions with all the other clubs in the bag. My 7 iron for example goes 115 yards and my best fairway wood goes 150 yards. This means I almost always take 3 shots at best to reach the green for a par 4 and 4 shots on a par 5. I also have duff shots a cannot eliminate 3 putting. I will never break 90 and at 75 years of age my physical performance is unlikely to significantly improve.
Great video and shows what happens if you play sensibly and to your handicap. Liam, I want your shotscope. Really enjoyed this video. Please do another one with maybe a 200 Yard limited club, which would help all of us shorter hitters off the tee.
Liam I want your shotscope. I am a 28 handicap and break 100 about a quarter of the time (best ever round was 93). I’m going to use your method next week and use no club bigger than a 5 iron and see how I get on as I seem to be stuck scoring roughly the same all the time.
Brilliant video wonderful insight into the alternative process in playing to your strengths. How would Mr b or hwc go doing the same as they don’t have the ball striking you do . Thx Liam and Presley
Great video, however, if you try again whatever club is maximum your drive club, do not use that club on the rest of the hole, who uses a driver of the fairway, just a thought.
A great example of how to play the course. Every time i start off a round with the same intention as soon as im on the first par 5 the driver's having it 😫. One day i might make it through the entire 18. Liam i want your shot scope 🍻
I've heard people talk about this basic strategy before, but it was really eye-opening to see it put into practice by a low handicapper. I will definitely be trying this next time out. It's also great to see that even an 8-handicap can be learning new strategies. Love the commentary. As you said, this is real golf. The good and the bad. Well done.
I think you manipulated those doubles and that triple for effect.Your score was easily a 79 not 83.Now just use a 4i or 4H off the tee.Play short on certain holes, maximise your wege play and your talking of 2 to 5 further strokes less than that because your staying on the grass and avoiding all the hazards.Driver and woods off fairways destroy your rounds. This is how to be consistently in the 70's.
You are a good enough player to be able to satisfy the fact you were showing how to beat 90 not 80.Come on some of those shots were very dodgy. 2:04 @@GolfMates
Loved the video but can’t help but feel it’s not a fair reflection on those of us who struggle to break 90 and even 100… you can hit your irons well more often than not. That’s why you’re a 8 hcp… I spray mine so far wide that I’m constantly in trouble, even hitting less than 120 into a green after a good tee shot. Distance isn’t the problem, it’s high handicap club face control. And that’s something you don’t have to worry about.
@@GolfMates Definitely but I just tried this method at Hart Common and shot a 117. I’m a 21.2 index, so 23 shots meaning 95 is my handicap. As I suspected, hitting irons off the tee is pointless when you can pull and slice your irons out of bounds so taking 7 off the tee. My best* holes were 16 & 17, where I had fairways either side and hit driver and should have parred both but got bogeys. So a 8 hcp can break 90, but a 23 hcpper cannot. *Did birdie the very short par 4 but that was always a short iron off the tee and luckily hit a good one.
As someone kept saying, brilliant video, you make it look so easy and just all common, trouble is I haven't got any of that on the golf course. Liam I want your golf scope
Just back from playing a round. I have been getting lessons and it just messed my game up. I went back to my old swing, playing a simple swing and for some reason today I was hitting it better and longer than trying out my other swing. My hands were like T-Rex after playing with the swing the pro was telling me to use
Liam, I want your Shotscope. What a great round of golf! With the price of Drivers these days, you could save yourself a few quid too, using this method! Shaun. 18.8 handicap.
Liam, I want your shot scope. Shot scope, I want your watch. I'm just getting back into the game after 3 years of injury. I'm really glad i watched this, can only play 9 currently but taking the drivers and hybrids out of the bag to have a sensible & fun game of golf.
Been raining every weekend for well over a month in Sydney meaning no golf...watching your videos is the next best thing to getting out there...Can't wait til the next tee time, fingers crossd for next Sunday...🤜💥🤛
Awesome video. On my way to break 90 my biggest mistake is to not play my handicap. Your video is all about the right mentality. Work with your distances. Great video. Thanks. By the way, Liam I want your Shotscope, 😅. Thanks to your camera man!
Great eye opener video. Thank you. I do not want your Shot Scope piece of crap though. You can keep that garbage or give it to some other sucker. Danny Maude wouldn't help me either.
LIAM I WANT YOUR SHOTSCOPE. Really good video however the only one thing I would say is all the high handicappers I know will only hit an 8 iron max 120-125 yards and we'll have a couple of really bad hits during the round
Great video Liam, my ego always gets me reaching for driver off the tee and end up in trouble. 😢. Will be disciplined tomorrow and try this. 22 handicapper. LIAM I WANT YOUR SHOTSCOPE!
I am going to be 70 soon. My index is 25. I wish I could hit 180 yards. In my bag, Driver, 2 wood, 3 hybrid, 5 hybrid, 7 iron, 9 iron, P wedge, A wedge, S wedge, L wedge, Putter. I typically shoot high 80's and low 90's. Liam, I want your Shotscope!!!
Turn your 7 pars into bogeys and the birdie into a par then you'd have what I call a decent score of 94. You're not an "average" player showing us how to break 90. You're showing us what a great player can do with irons, without going over 200yrds. Love the video
