The new 300r is 10 hours. It’s kinda been proven that rpm diff during your breakin period is useless. Metal is coming off of parts, regardless. I suggest changing the oil sooner In the period.
My 200 xs manual says full throttle for 1 minute every 10 minutes and vary the RPS for the first two hrs. It says nothing about keeping it under 4500 rpm at full throttle (it wouldn’t be full throttle). The only stipulation after 2 hrs is to not to run full throttle for more than 5 minutes continuously. It says nothing about changing the rpm every 5 minutes. Mercury should have better instructions if these instructions in the video are correct. Thanks for the video
Your manual is correct, he misinterpreted the first part. The varying RPM every 5 min is just OCD guys and myself trying to get each range of rpm worn in properly. Merc just wants to make sure you vary the rpm. We take it a step further to get the best break in possible. That’s all. A lot of pros do it this way.
So I've just ordered a 2022 mercury 25hp 4stroke the newest model that isn't released in Australia yet so brand new. I've heard you don't have to break them in because they do it at the factory because to many people weren't breaking them in properly. IS THIS TRUE ?????
