In this video we look at how to best season a shaving brush. The principles applied may be used across all shaving brush types - boar and badger. Facebook / shavetheman Twitter / shavetheman
Boar is my favorite knot material followed by Horsehair. I use this exact method to break in and or season my boar brushes and it works great. I don’t like a lot of splay in my brushes and this method allows me to keep my knots in splayed but still broken in. The other method with the overnight soaking and vigorous rubbing splays the knot too much for me. Also, if not done correctly it can ruin a wooden handled brush.
Very informative video. Thank you. I'm going to take the plunge into the shaving brush world. It's great that you made a video that's direct and to the point. The method you spoke of make sense to me. See how it works out. Thanks
I have an Omega 10066 I did this when I first got it I've used it about 3 times already and it still has a hint of that animal smell on it. Also it loses about 1-3 bristles whenever I use it and the bristles are sticking out it doesn't retain that nice shape
