Hello, I'm a 74 year old choir member at my church and loving every minute of it. Recently I realized that vocal training is what I need to become a better singer, and right after I finished my Devotional reading today your video popped up. What a Blessing! I look forward to more of your videos, and hope that maybe one day I'll sing a solo I realize my dreams come true. Thank you so much!!
Might be a simple thing to most, but you have no idea how much more aware I became of my breath, or lack thereof, by the hand placement suggestion you made. I always thought it was no more than getting your belly to protrude as much as possible and had no idea there was proper expansiveness all the way around I wasn't tapping into. Thank you, now I have to go binge watch your other videos.
By the way Pilates is an exercise were you have to deep breath. I heard a story once: The singer for Disney's Snow white wanted to sound younger better decades ago, when it was produced. She went to a Pilates class for it. Bc in Pilates you strengthen your core in the exercises and you have to breathe deeply in too the diaphragm and out with the exercises. I suppose it helps to learn breathing control and strengthening the core, bc singing really needs that for the endurance for longer singing without getting exhausted. Thats what I noticed personally, too.
I have been using your breathing techniques for my exercise students in Tai Chi Class. I taught them this lengthens the spine, helping with posture, and helping to get the air deep into the body to repair the organs. I taught them that a belly breath looks bad. I taught them to fill up their sides and their back with air as well, and not to breath in so deep that they get tense. I even explained to them how this relates to singers. They really enjoy the breathing techniques. It’s something easy that seniors can do, and it benefits them. Thank you so much for your lessons. God Bless you! ❤❤❤
Thank you for all of your incredibly valuable tips and advice!! I'm not a singer, per se, but I would like to be able to sing well. At the very least, I'd like to feel comfortable singing in front of others if I ever had the chance again. I've always envied those who had the confidence to sing in public, and had the voice to back up that confidence. Your videos, along with much practice, have put me in a position where I would now feel comfortable singing karaoke with friends. After all of the practice time being so fun and rewarding, I now consider singing one of my hobbies! Never thought I would say that but I really enjoy the way singing makes me feel. It's like a workout, but for my lungs, vocal chords, heart and soul. Your lessons and your encouragement have helped... turn me into a singer. I'm so very grateful!! Thank you!
This is my second time I run into a funny but knowledge singing teacher since I started to practice my singing more often since last yr...& I really love it, I learn while I laugh at a few of her jokes 😂
Superb!! It's been difficult to find anyone on the internet and in my area who actually knows how the voice works and how to teach singing. Both my parents were professionally trained singers and they followed many of these techniques. I also trained years ago. Thank you for sharing you knowledge and solid techniques to singing!! Much appreciated!
Instant subscribe. I love your no nonsense and down to earth approach. I sing every Sunday at church and memorial services has become a thing lately. I'm such an amateur and I feel like I will learn with your teaching style
Your videos have helped me so much. I used to get so frustrated with my voice, but now I've fallen in love with singing. Thank you so much, you're such a blessing ❤️
I am so glad to have discovered your channel, you really know what you're talking about and that's what I've been searching for since a key vocalist left my band I am now stepping into his shoes with your help !!!
Thank you❤🎉 I am singing at church, have sang for fun all my life, was in choir at school...and this is the very first time I have practiced this kind of breathing awareness! Looking forward to more videos
I am an Indian Classical singer. And I find your techniques very helpful. You teach the excersise to bring them into your habbit which is what makes them useful. Thank you 😊
@Healthy Vocal Technique as a functional breathing coach myself, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your channel, your straightforward approach and your willingness to share your decades of wisdom. Your emphasis on breath-body awareness is so spot on. And I love how you are teaching people to feel the expansion through their lowest ribs. I have clients who are singer-dancers, and your observation that dance trains them to engage their cores in a way that is completely counter-productive to effectively generating a powerful yet effortless voice, is so true. I also tell my students to only take in as much air as is required to get the job done, so your analogy of not needing an "elephant-sized breath" is so great! Really helpful imagery.🙌Your tutorials really help me to better cue my singers in a language they understand, so thank you so much for the time and effort you put into creating your videos.🙏 Much appreciated. Have a great weekend!
Victoria thank you so much for your video! I am a male alto and I thought I lost my gift after years of not singing and then losing technique altogether. It's been coming back now at age 28 and I really thank God. A lot of the other videos get VERY technical and then lose people... You are no nonsense and get to the point! I was shook when you sang at the end, didn't see you move ONCE. I enjoy teaching and making complex learning easy to others, everyone can be a student, not all can teach.
Thank you again for all these videos. The past semester I was only able to do 30 minutes a week with my vocal professor, so you answer all the questions I never had time to ask - and with such concise, easy to understand pedagogy! Very excellent stuff
I love her passion and delivery. Schools need teaches like this I bet there would be a lot more passing students. Of course the education system would need to double their starting salary before teachers like this would even consider that path.
Of all the videos I have seen with focus on correct inhalation, your's is by FAR the most understandable and precise instructional lessons on how to improve the singing voice. I got so much out of your video and can't wait to start the tips you laid out for the viewers. Thank you so much. You have another dedicated follower from here out
What a strong Gal you are. Thank you for your love and encouragement. Precisely what I need to be able to sing consistently, rather than occasionally being able to pull off something somewhat okay. My present lack of skill, is exactly what you passionately speak against. Again, thank you.
I am now 48 years old and lost touch with my younger singing days. After having kids and experiencing many health challenges I believe I was beyond learning to sing better. I recently started picking up the Ukulele and many great Ukulele players find a great need to sing as well. I was also overweight, still am in all honestly, but have lost many pounds. Lyme Disease, thyroid issues, and diabetes have not helped that much as you can imagine. I am once again excited about learning to sing and if I say so myself have always had a great voice just never challenged myself to make it even greater. My positive outlook on life has given me the chance to look past my health issues and has actually helped with my own pain without the need for many medications. Knowing this I would like to thank you for bringing back the excitement into singing and enthusiasm for life, since music has always been one of my great loves in life. Thank you for bringing me back to my song. I look forward to learning more. When my financial circumstances are a little more improved I shall sign up for more extensive learning. Again thank you.
I'm that student who'll try to apply his practice to an actual song. Now, I believe that the explanation of the teacher is the key for that and you are the best in that field.
You are a gem! Your teaching style is very PRACTICAL and beneficial. Thank you so very much for giving your time and knowledge to help those who aspire to use their God-given talents to the maximum and He IS glorified!
If I continue to watch your videos, probably I will know much more things that I wanted. I discovered you because all the online teachers that I found on RU-vid put to much pressure on beginners (like me) with their techniques. I love you, I love your voice, your kindness and your face. I love all from what you do! You're amazing! ✨💛
Wow, thank you for the video. I am a fan of analogy and less technical terms - after all, it is more important to understand the concepts and apply them than to be able to recite technical terms without fully understanding the concepts. When you can explain something to a 6-year-old child, then you understand it. I am not 6 years old (nearly 60); your video makes a lot of sense to me - THANK YOU, Ma'am!
One day I will mention your name in interviews of me because you helped me unlock what ever blockage that’s was preventing me from singing my best. Now I got it 💙
There are so few people with this amount of knowledge, applying it over the years endlessly. Literally almost nobody knows about singing like this, and even many people who sound good don't know how to explain the technical details behind it.
This is a gem. Thank you so much Victoria and God bless you for what you do. I only sing in the church and very occasionally in karaoke with friends. I know that my voice is not that good and your videos will definitely help me.
I love your tips on quiet breaths. As a psychotherapist who often teaches patients relaxation techniques, deep, quiet, diaphragmatic breathing can also relax a person from physical and emotional tension. Glad to know this works for singing as well!
Your teaching is practical. And you have good sense of humor too. I should have seen your videos two years ago. I like your style. I sing for personal enjoyment but i realize that i am not very good at singing despite practicing. Maybe i did not have proper understanding on posture and breathing. Thanks you so much for putting this in RU-vid. Greeting from Sabah Malaysia
This video will help me a lot to improve more. Very helpful video Ms. Victoria. Thanks so much for sharing this to many. Dreams will come true as I indeed love to sing & follow all your techniques. God Bless you more
Hi Victoria! Love your videos! I have been singing all my life, without lessons. I wanted to touch up and make sure I'm doing things correctly and didn't develop any bad habits. So far so good! Thanks for the tips!
Thank you, Victoria! I enjoyed this immensely! I sing alto in a choir that does latin polyphonies. I noticed I wasn't breathing correctly, because I kept running out of air, especially on those long holds! I love the polyphonies, & I would love them even more, If I could get the breathing patterns down right.
I will follow all your tips. I always have problems with high notes, especially the vowels, and my voice is boring. I haven't been singing since High School. Now, I'm starting singing again on karaoke. Thank you so much. You're the best vocal coach on you tube.
Also thank you for your kindness when I was young I could sing really shrill and high but I can't do that right now but you've shown me a lot again thank you for your kindness I don't like for people to make fun of me who does
Thank you for the lovely comment, Philip! I truly appreciate it. I only started making these tutorials a year ago. Please feel free to share with your singer friends! :)
@@Victoria-Victorious my adivise for you, is to also use others sites, because If you are one of the fist people to start in a New site and this site explode you Will be Very great there. Also RU-vid is slowly dying.
Neither do I! She’s literally one of the most effective communicators about vocal technique I've come across on the internet and she's truly passionate about the voice. Imagine how intensive an in-person class would be! 😱
You sing like a nightingale and soooo effortlessly. Thank God for You Tube that I stumbled upon your video. Amazing strategy and so thoughtful and humble of you to share your over 40 years of experience
Wow !! You have enlighten me on how to breath for sure. I will be 70 in a week and I’ve always loved music. I only sing at church. And I’ve noticed I run out of breath faster and have to constantly clear my throat. I’m singing tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous but I will practice your breathing techniques from now on. Thank you so much for your video. It’s awesome 😊
Great! Make sure that you watch my videos on breath support too! Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - CLEARLY & CORRECTLY explained - FINALLY! (VIDEO #12) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WR2772TGrgo.html
Wow - fantastic - this is so good, and even better, something that I can immediately work on, and continue to practice. This content is all useful, no fluff, and top quality.
❤As a school student who doesn't have the resources to improve my techniques I find your videos helpful. I have been watching your videos for a while and this particular one was just what i needed. Thank you!❤
This helped big time. Thank you. I have control issues because I have a wife range and Breathing properly truly puts me in full control and confidence over my voice. Still learning but thanks again for the authentic help.
Hi Victoria!...I used to tour as a background vocalist for Mariah Carey...I've been singing lead and backgrounds for 30 yrs with no formal training and Your channel is everything that I been needing All these years!!!🤩👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you, Thank you, Thank you lovely, talented lady!!🥰...Continued Peace & Blessings to you Victoria🙏🏽 ShaLom✨
I love your singing tips! You make it fun to watch and quite clear on how to do it and why. I think you are a terrific vocal coach...Thank you so much for helping us to learn how to sing much better. I really need it and I'm going to visit your website too. God Bless You!
for the first time in decades I will be doing a song in front of an audience (intermission of chorus concert) I am doing Johnny one note and I need to be able to sustain the note as long as possible and this will definitely help. Thank you
I'm watching all of these videos, and I can't express how much thankful I feel towards you. For real, my dream has always been to be a singer that you would be pleased to listen to, even tho I know I don't have the most pleasing tone in the world, but singing and the music is my passion. I don't even speak English (so I hope you can understand this), but I'm so glad I found your channel 🥺 Thank you!!!! ❤
This was great, very helpful, thank you! I'm always interested in learning tips that can help my singing. Sometimes just a few seemingly small things can make a huge difference in how you sound!
Thank you so much it really helped, i was searching for this everywhere but i couldn't find something good and then i found this video and it's really helpful❤
I was just rewatching this video because yesterday I felt like for the first time in decades of singing, I FINALLY FOUND MY DIAPHRAGM! 😅 Sounds so silly, that after this long it occurred to me. So I really appreciated hearing you say you have to first be AWARE of this. It's almost like something clicked because I could feel myself being able to sing without tensing up. I really struggle with neck, throat and shoulder tension when singing. Apparently that's what I've been doing all along, and damaging my voice! Anyhow, I always come back to your videos when I need specific instruction to solve a problem. And I'm still doing my vocal warmups from your website daily. I LOVE them!!
THANKS SO MUCH VICTORIA FOR THIS TRULY WELL DONE, RELATABLE AND UNDERSTANDABLE VIDEO. I ALWAYS WISHED I HAD A GREAT VOICE. OR AT LEAST A GOOD ONE. MINE IS BARELY FAIR. BUT I STILL LOVE TO LISTENS TO MUSIC VIDEOS TO ESCAPE THE STRESSES OF LIFE. I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYONE EXPLAIN THE SIMPLE, YET IMPORTANT TIPS CONCERNING INHALATION...SIMPLE BREATHING TIPS FOR A BEGINNER. YOU ARE A GREAT INSTRUCTOR! I LOVED YOUR VIDEO! I HAVE TAKEN VERY DEEP BREATHS FOR RELAXING MY BODY IN TIMES OF STRESS AND OR ASTHMA ISSUES (WHEN I CAN TAKE A DEEP BREATH.) I DO EXPERIENCE THE "HAPPY CHEMICAL" RELEASE AND IT IS PEACEFUL AND RELAXING. I WILL LOOK FORWARDS TO VIEWING MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS. I AM TOO OLD TO START A CAREER IN SICKING (I ALSO HAVE CLL...CHRONIC LEUKEMIA) AND BREATHING IS HARDER NOW, DUE TO THE ENLARGED WHITE BLOOD CELLS CROWDING OUT THE RED BLOOD CELLS AND NOT ALLOWING THE PROPER AIR TO GET TO MY LUNGS. BUT STILL, I CONTINUE TO DESIRE TO TRY AND LEARN HOW TO BREATHE PROPERLY WHEN I AM ALONE AND SING ALONG WITH A VIDEO. THANKS FOR READING THIS MASSIVE MISSIVE! YOU ARE A BLESSING! KINDLY, BEV FROM VIRGINIA
@@Victoria-Victorious 🥰 I think I am finally learning to sing on the breath, not with it - thanks to my vocal coach and thanks to a steady diet of your content 😤 truly, we appreciate you sharing your talent, experience and insight! Plus your videos are fun too 🙃
I really love all your analogies, and your enthusiasm.. best way to explain what we're trying to acheive.. and i REALLY love the birds, clouds parting and sunshine one!! Thanks for making your videos so enjoyable
Thank you for the lesson. I am 67 and hope there is time left to be able to sing well. I play violin so never took any voice lessons. But my dearest wish would be to sound good when I sing.
