Cool! I've been wanting to make earrings like this and couldn't figure out how to do the brick stitch increases and decreases needed. Threw me off at first. Then I realized you're a lefty! Thanks for your help!
Hello, I really liked this tutorial but for some reason I couldn't get it right, can you please make another detailed tutorial maybe for the dog face? ❤
Aww that's so wonderful, glad we could share something inspiring with you! We've got patterns available for all the necklaces Rachel showed in the video so if you wanna get started by making one of her designs you can find them here: beadaholique.com/products/sweet-kitty-cat-necklace beadaholique.com/products/grey-kitty-cat-necklace beadaholique.com/products/little-black-cat-necklace beadaholique.com/products/fluffy-white-kitty-cat-necklace beadaholique.com/products/purrfect-tabby-necklace beadaholique.com/products/yellow-lab-necklace
I feel silly asking this, but has anyone tried making any brick/peyote stitch pieces using just regular seed beads? I'm guessing that they would be Czech glass beads. The ones that are not as uniform in shape. I have a TON of those kind of seed beads and was wondering if my piece would end up looking terrible even if I use ones that are mostly similar in size and shape. Does that make sense?
Czech glass beads can be used for this technique and if they are generally around the same size they will work. We have a few weaving projects that use Czech seed beads: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=czech+seed&_=pf&pf_t_product_type=0-Product-Type%3AProject
And if I don't have Fireline what would be the next best kind of string to use for these projects? If the choices are between sewing thread or something similar to fishing wire?
Please help! I've been working on this all weekend and cannot get past the first row of ladder stitch. When I go to make the first decrease my beads 'do not' fall in place. If I get the first pink one to fit the white will not.
Hi Ashley, for brick stitch patterns like this we use MIyuki Delicas, typically in size 11/0. They're precision shaped glass beads. While we love czech glass seed beads we typically don't recommend them for this kind of pattern work, the rounder shape won't let them stack together as tightly as the cylindrical Miyukis
I have a question! I was using 0.24mm but it seems like you're using 0.12mm, the beads weren't lining up at all and were too loose even if i tightened them, do you think that's because the wire is too thick? :)
Yes I think that might be the case here. We provide links to all the supplies in the video description to make sure you are working with the exact items we used to make the project work. Sometimes there's a bit a leeway, but generally the smaller and finer detailed pieces like this want exact measurements. Here's a link to the Fireline we used, it's 0.15mm: :beadaholique.com/products/fireline-braided-beading-thread-4lb-test-and-0-005-thick-15-yards-crystal-clear
Yeah this technique should work with pony beads too. It will have a slightly different look since most larger beads don't stack together as tightly as these delicas but I think it will still be nice and cute
Hello! I looked on the necklace project page and it appears that the pattern is in the Printer Friendly PDF, down on the bottom right side. It is also on the main project page for that design, as the 3rd photo. beadaholique.com/products/fluffy-white-kitty-cat-necklace. I hope this helps
Beadaholique's answers are missing the point, but I noticed that if you go into the project listings for each separate cat pendant (www.beadaholique.com/beading-resources/beading-projects-tutorials/bead_weaving ), the third picture on the page is basically the pattern. You can just save off and use the picture. (As for the dog, no luck...)
Hi! We have several on our website that are free to download. Just click into the project and there is an option to download PDF instructions beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=cat*+brick*+stitch*
This is very frustrating! I went directly to the beadaholique website. I found the cat project, but there is NO pattern! It tells you to come watch this video. Where can I get the PRINTED PATTERNS for both the cat and dog?
Hi! You can find the pattern here : www.beadaholique.com/yellow-lab-necklace.html . Here is a direct link for the cat pdf instructions as well: www.beadaholique.com/media/pdf/Project-N7088.pdf .Thanks for watching!
Hi Yira, sorry we never recorded tutorials for all these animals, but we do have a project page for the puppy with a written tutorials and a beading pattern beadaholique.com/products/yellow-lab-necklace
Hi Tina, I'm not quite certain what you mean by "up" here. The orientation of the piece changes as you work on it so that can be a tricky. The basic idea is this though: We start with the ladder stitch baserow and then complete each line one at a time, moving from one side of the animal's face to the other. Following the video steps in that fashion you'll end up with a finished piece exactly as show. You can get a better look at the cat necklace here on its project page: beadaholique.com/products/fluffy-white-kitty-cat-necklace
Sadly no, you would have too many warp threads to tie in. Also the way the beads sit would be too straight and not jagged like they are in brick stitch.
Sorry to hear that. Are you referring to the "See all videos on bead weaving techniques »" link on this page? www.beadaholique.com/beading-resources/techniques-guides/free-beading-patterns/brick-stitch-bead-weaving-patterns
Beadaholique this link doesn’t get us there any better than the one in the info below the video, it comes back with an error code 403 forbidden, same as I stated in my original comment.
Sorry you're having a tough time with this brick stitch, let me know if there's anything in particular you're struggling with, we're here answer questions.
It does take a good bit of practice, our designer Rachel made a ton of these over a few months before she did the video. Hang in there, it'll come to you!

trying to follow this is so infuriating 😂😂 not cos of u just be ause the beads are tiny and im getting confused by "up" thrown rhe bead and "down" through the bead... how do i know what ways what?
Hi! I am sorry it's frustrating. The beads are definitely small and it takes time to get used to how they "work". My best advice is to do a little practice without all the increases and decreases and just get used to the beads and brick stitch first and then play with a pattern like this one.
@@beadaholique Yes thanks that's what I ended up doing 💖 No need to apologize like I said it's not because of u, just because seed beads are so little it was hard to see what ur actually doing ! I've been practicing the stitches with perler beads, definitely made some progress thanks
