I’ve alr made (and even tore down to rebuild) a hotbox and the first thing I wanted to do was make a smashbox right after. So glad that someone can help me get to this goal😄

Instead of cutting the cable of a gamecube controller, you can get a spare gamecube controller replacement cable. But at least you can use it to save your gamecube controller cable

I was thinking abt building something like this with a wooden frame, I was just wondering if the keys being raised is uncomfortable on your wrists? (also great vid)
@joeymacmods
@joeymacmods 11 месяцев назад
It’s not too bad, but all other ones I’ve made have not had raised buttons, I would recommend building one and then maybe adding some wrist support platforms to make your hands more level if you are worried about it ;)

if its not a smash layout (smaller xontroller) you can use the akko switch box

Thank you for making this guide, I'm going to make my own soon! Just a quick question: in the diagram at 3:07 I don't see any option for a minus/home/share button. Are those not possible to wire using this method? Thank you in advance!
@joeymacmods
@joeymacmods 3 месяца назад
Yeah with this particular way of doing it there is no option for that. Thanks you!

Great vid! I'm curious about building one like this. A couple questions though. 1. How are the keyswitches staying in place? If you press them won't they fall through? On arcade buttons like sanwa they have snap tabs or screw mechanisms to secure them, but keyboard keys usually mount onto a PCB or a plate, so I'm wondering if they'll be secure just floating like that. 2. If you wanted to upgrade from cardboard to a better quality material, what would be cheap that would allow you to put in keyswitches the same way (without a custom PCB or plate)?
@joeymacmods
@joeymacmods 6 месяцев назад
1. They have a lip they sit on, on the top and little barbs on the bottom that help them stay in place by grabbing the cardboard in between. 2. So I have a video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8c87jeKYhXA.html that goes over how I made one of these out of a wii balance board, these same techniques with the little 3D printed arcade buttons, using the keyswitches of course, could work on any material you can cut holes through really. You could also just use arcade buttons. Good Luck! And, let me know if you have any more questions, happy to help :)
@Numardoo
@Numardoo 6 месяцев назад
They don't over long term, i'm replacing my frame with a 3d printed one that wont rip(the cardboard wears out)

Thank you for your awesome tutorial! So, is that all we need to do for the wiring is to solder one pin of the switch to GPIO and the other pin to GND? And then we can directly connect it to the Switch using a micro USB, right?
@joeymacmods
@joeymacmods 7 месяцев назад
You're welcome! As long as you follow the wiring guide, it will work! To clarify, each of the switches have one unique spot they are wired to as well as the ground which can be shared by all the switches.

Great video, I used this to make my own controller! The only issue is that on dolphin I am unable to run, only walk when i hit a directional key, any reason why?
@royshantzis3321
@royshantzis3321 Год назад
My guess is the button isnt registering the cardinal (maximum) points on the analog stick. Try increasinging the sensitivity of the analog stick readings in dolphin.
