I qualified as a bricklayer in 2009 but unfortunately left the industry shortly after and never got back into it but this video probably taught me more than what any other bricklayer "taught" me
Ill be qualified before end of the year and I already consider myself retired. Housing crisis world wide understaffed industry. I’ve never encountered a decent human on the trowel there all horrible lowlifes in Ireland anyway
@@padraigharrison6919 it's draining but you just have to stick with it as it can be a good industry. Just gotta not let it get to you but it's hard when you're young. Funnily enough I always found the younger lads better to work with and would learn stuff whilst the older guys just wanted to shout abuse at you
@@padraigharrison6919I'm waiting for phase 6 you should stick it out go out on your own when your qualified or travel when you have your papers you'll find decent lads to work for or work with or build your own crew be the change that's my 2 cents if that helps
Slip movement ties or SST wall tie for tying in in general ! Always put tie on a mortar bed, easier to lay under gives 10 mm play room! Another tip if you always as a gang but movement applicator ( Jonny ) to the same side every time a movement joint becomes a movement joint ! If alternate weakens the brickwork against subsidence, critical especially timber frames or building over 5 metres
Great video charlie.. i see there is some super brickies on here who didnt read the title.. It clearly stats "how to build a free hand panel".. keep up the good work
Ive learnt a lot from your channel mate. Im only a DIYer but i built my own garden wall and saved myself over a grand in labour costs. Was fucking hard work though. Cherrs
Congratulations on hitting the million bro. I just talked about your channel on a podcast I was on. U don't follow any of the "rules" when it comes to shorts. And u still go viral..matter of fact u hitting Mr beast type numbers. Views wise. No captions. No shock factor. Very inspiring for the construction niche here on yt
@CharlieCollison it was just a small/medium podcast that asked me to speak on yt shorts . I just mentioned how u blew up and hit a million (congrats) no biggy, I just thought it was cool, all your shorts do well
I actually think this is quicker than putting up a profile , if you have the guile and craftsmanship ! 35 years laying, and I would say for younger gen ( profiles of you can )
Looked liked you enjoyed that. A change of trowel keeps the work interesting. Looks good mortar. But them aerated use to call Thermilite blocks dont half dry up..
A and d group ltd .has a nice video up trying out a 9 inch Bon keystone forged trowel narrow London . He had good things to say about them . I’m using one at the moment 10 inch narrow London with the soft grip handle ,along with a 10 inch Kraft tools ( owner of w.rose ) narrow London wood handle .
I find there is a lot of variance on the lifts of the w.rose trowel but if you have a w.rose that you like, it’s probably similar to the lift on the Bon trowels.
Thanks for your videos!! Need to know if your going to be competing in Vegas for the Spec mix bricklayer 500? Mason and I do our regional September 30 in Seattle, Wa.
He just felt like doing it free hand he has videos were he sets a profile and runs a line from the other side of the door or just sets up 2 profiles and runs it all in at the same time
There is a school of thought that prefers tying in cross wall with ties as its a less rigid connection and will provide some accommodation for cracking.
come on chaz a nail bit of timber to the wall and a door frame just run the thing in and straight joint at the intersection poor work mate your better than that .....
@@topcatcoolio8807 yep can't let the traditional brickie have all the freehand work .....lol but chaz does like a profile .... plus on a windy day that nib could get blown down .....
How come our blocks aren't that light in America?! That's Not Fair! And you don't have steel rebar everywhere!! Masonry work in England is like working in heaven. ..Except for the constant rain😂
